A big and busy site, not normally my cup of tea, but I enjoyed my stay here and would not hesitate to use it again.
As we pulled into Lobb Fields the sun came out and stuck with us for the entire time we stayed, and we received an equally sunny reception from the wardens. We were allowed to choose our pitch on the site map and although we didn’t pick the best pitch it was still very good. It was large, well tended and although slightly sloping the chocks soon did their job.
During our three night stay, Thursday to Saturday, we were able to see two sides to this site, and both were great. On our first night it was practically empty, very peaceful and although the views are not amazing you do get a sense of where you are and it is very pleasant. As the weekend wore on it got busier and busier and by Saturday night it was pretty packed although still not full, almost exclusively surfers. This gave the campsite a nice buzz with music and BBQ smoke adding a certain atmosphere.
The facilities maybe a little old but they were clean and well maintained, and considering the amount of people on site it was astonishing that I did not have to wait for a single shower, cubicle or sink at any point. There is no shop, but there is a burger van and although I did no use it my camping colleagues did and praised the bacon butty.
There is a bus stop just outside the site that will take you to Braunton with other bus links, supermarkets, pubs and just about everything you’ll need or further on to Barnstaple, a large but still pleasant town with anything else you might need. The other way on the bus is Saunton Sands and Croyde Bay which are really just surfing villages with basic facilities.
We used Lobb Fields as a base to walk the South West Coast Path from Woolacombe to Braunton on the first day, this is a very attractive route initially and although still pleasant walking through Braunton Burrows it did cause some sore feet. The second day we walked Braunton to Bideford, an easy and pleasant walk around the estuary.
So all in all a great site, fairly lively at times and probably more aimed at the younger market, far superior and cheaper for campers than at Ruda round at Croyde and more agreeable than the big sites in Woolacombe.

We had a lovely time here, the children loved the play area and made lots of friends there. Can be a bit noisy at times with other campers and the site next door, but it is a site we have been to on and off for many years.
We love the area, so much to do. Did some body boarding, visited the Atlantic village which our little one adored! plenty of showers.
Friendly atmosphere overall, a little shop would be useful for basics, although there is a shop off-site, 10 minute walk.

We stayed here with friends, and we all had young children, the campsite were very accommodating ensuring that we were all camped next to each other.
The pitches are large and we had a great time despite the weather.
There is a nice play area and fast food type van, the showers are hot and clean.
There was no shop on site but a very well stocked shop reasonably priced within walking distance.
The campsite is ideally placed for access to Saunton Beach and Braunton for fish and chips at Squires.
This was not the first time we have stayed here and we will be heading back.

Great site - would go back anytime! The weather didn't let us down. The facilities were fine, clean and usable, no shop on site but this wasn't a problem as it's close to amenities. Close to beaches - car parking charges were hefty but that's the same anywhere these days, I guess if you were younger and fitter you could walk - better to bike perhaps? The site was busy, and due to the lovely weather got busier all the time, we never felt cramped and there were no problems with noise etc. A very friendly site.

This was our first outing in our first ever tent and I think we picked a great site for that occasion.
A good flat site with clearly marked pitches, big toilet and shower block, outdoor (but covered) washing up facilities and a great little children's play area. A snack van was also available on site too. Ice blocks and gas also available.
A lot of one-nighters/surfers seemed to use this site and one night we did have a large group of young men close by that were a bit rowdy late into the night. A few words from other campers soon shut them up though.
Close to plenty of beaches, other towns and tourist places - the dinosaur park at Coombe Martin was a particular hit with my lot!
Overall a great basic site with very helpful, friendly staff. Would use again if visiting the area.

Joan and I stayed here for four nights and I wish we could have stayed longer. Its a lovely site and the pics on the web site doesn't really do it justice. Joan has arthritis so we used the disabled facs and found them to be perfect, clean, showers nice and hot and powerful. There were not too many holiday-makers on site when we were there as it was just after the may bank holiday. I found the staff to be very friendly and helpful Gina and James were great as was Alison.
The surrounding area of north Devon is without a doubt spectacular, stunning, so much to do and see, not enough time to see all of it but we will go back to lobb fields. We went into Braunton, barnstable etc and found the local people to be extremely friendly, that's unusual these days but it says a lot for Devon people. What criticisms do I have? Absolutely none.

I have visited this site twice. It is well situated for beaches and surrounding country side.
The wardens are extremely friendly, and even parked my caravan for me as I am something of a beginner at caravaning, previously had motor homes.
I would recommend this site, plenty of walks for the dog, a play area for the grand children when they visited, very welcoming to visitors, a tempting cafe, saves cooking.
I hope to return again next year.

We had a weekend at Lobb Fields in October 2007 and what a great place.
Clean, tidy, and with friendly wardens.
We had a pitch close to the park in the bottom field.
The pitch was huge and the grass was lush and well maintained.
The toilet block was fine and well lit at night (as the womens entrance is round the back).
We were lucky with the weather at that time of year and the site was fairly quiet, but I can imagine that even when full at the height of summer the site is nice too.
We travelled into Braunton village for the supermarket and found a small Somerfield, but this didn't have it's own car park.
There is a wonderful Fish and Chip restaurant/take away in Braunton and this is well worth a visit.
Saunton beach was a short car journey away and this was great. Great place for surfers and families alike with small shop and food outlet in case you don't have a picnic.
Would definitely return to Lobb Fields and would love to try in the height of summer.

We have stayed here 4 times in 3 years, love it and can't wait to go back. Very reasonably priced, friendly and welcoming and having exactly the basics required (and a bit more) - hot showers, clean toilets, a washing up area, lots of water pipes and even a laundry area just in case and no entertainment. We have stayed in the middle field and the top field which is open during peak season both of which are fine - amazing view from the top of the very top field.
Nearby beaches are great, Saunton, Croyde, Putsborough and a bit further over Woolacombe. Braunton town has all you need, pubs, eating places, a supermarket etc and Barnstaple isn't that much further away if you feel the need for a little retail therapy! We use this campsite as a base for all of the above and more venturing to Lynton / Lynmouth - 1/2 to 3/4 hour away in one direction and Bideford the other. Have stayed here in the sunshine and the rain and have always found something/ somewhere to go in the case of the latter which is no mean feat with 2 young children in tow.

Fantastic weekend was had at Lobbs Field. Lobbs field is a well run, family and dog friendly Tent, Motorhome and Caravan Park.
The Toilets and Showers are cleaned regularly and well maintained with fantastic free hot showers, and I mean proper hot.!
Each pitch is well marked out to see, and due to each pitch being a decent size you certainly can't encroach on your neighbours
There is a great little play area for the kids, which for a family of 4 was a blessing.
Unfortunately the Site no longer has a shop or a supply of gas cylinders. However, they have recently struck a deal with a vendor and a snack shop is now permanently available on site in the mornings and afternoons up to 9pm. The Snack shop supplies, Tea, Coffee, Soft Drinks, chocolate bars, breakfast baps in the morning and other fast food type delicacies. Plus other items I can't remember.
With no shop on site or Gas cylinders, this isn't a big worry, as Lobb Fields is literally a 5 min drive into Braunton where convenience stores are available and plenty of places that deal in Gas Cylinders, the only problem is if you forget to restock milk for instance, so you must not forget your shopping list!
Saunton Beach is only a mile down the road, the only downside is the car park as they charged 6 quid, which is ok if you are there for the day. Croyde Beach is further past Saunton, but this is the busier little village with the more experienced Surfer converging on the beach making the place very busy indeed.
Apart from the lack of shop, the site is really well run and I will certainly be returning but this time with my Dog.
