What a gem of a site. Beautiful scenery and well kept.
We stayed her for four nights on our epic three week tour. The weather was absolutely fantastic.
Toilets and showers are basic but clean and the owners were very nice and pretty much left you to your own devices.
Slapton village is beautiful and picturesque but, be prepared for a steep uphill walk back to the campsite. The hill needs to be walked slowly. Two lovely pubs with nice food in the village and one little village shop. Slapton sands is worth a visit.
All in all, a brilliant stay and I would go back again

Great site run by a lovely senior couple. The access lane is a bit tight with a caravan but everybody we met in the lane seemed to give way to us. Lovely views out to sea on a clear day.
The toilets and showers are basic but always clean and plenty of hot water. Some parts of the field have a gentle slope but not really enough to warrant chocks.
We would definitely visit this site again. Dartmouth is well worth visiting and perhaps a ferry across the river would be a nice touch. Plenty to do in the surrounding area.

We stayed at Sea View in what must have been the wettest and windiest August for some time, but we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
There were fourteen people and four dogs in four tents and a caravan, and we were sited along the wire fence with electric hook ups at the side of a very large field.
The showers and toilets were in portable cabins, and as has been said, they could do with uprating, but they were clean (and cleaned every day)and 20p gave me plenty of time to shower and most times I was out and drying before the water had stopped running, mind you, I don't have any hair to worry about !
It is a quiet site, if you want an all singing all dancing site it's not for you, and as has been said, the 5 mile lane to it is rather narrow, and please make sure you follow the campsites' directions as the lane up through Slapton is not on for towing !
Eating out is well cared for, the Crabhouse nr Kingsbridge is excellent as were the Church House at Stokenham and the Ashburton Inn ( at East Charlton or Frogmore, I'm not sure which !), We had several very good breakfasts at Beesands in a small crab shack, with the added benifit of free parking and an excellent dog friendly beach.
One of the problems for dog owners is that the beaches are of fine shingle and it makes the dogs feet quite tender, my Staffy was seen lying on her back waving her feet in the air to cool them off !
Shopping has to be done away from Slapton, we used Kingsbridge (good parking) or Dartmouth (Park and ride, don't try and park in Dartmouth !) and there is a brilliant Texaco garage at East Charlton which has a full supermarket and camping, outdoor, shooting, fishing and watersport shop. One of the pubs in Torcross has a very good fish and chip takeaway, but ordering in advance is a good idea.
As said before, it was a very wet and windy week, my nephew had to resite his tent against the top hedge, which cured the problem, but it meant that we had to look indoors for some of our entertainment. The huge National Marine Aquarium at Plymouth is very good and Plymouth Karting is a hoot, especially for a motorsport family like ours.
Would we go again ? Of course we would. A quiet and friendly site for campers with good beaches and good food in the area. Strangely there don't seem too many footpaths in the area but there is the South West Coast Path to use.

We have just returned from a weeks stay here and did enjoy ourselves. I agree with the recent review about the road to some extent. Yes it is narrow in places and we were towing a caravan but it's only for 5 miles and we didn't have any trouble when passing people. Tractors have to use this road as its surrounded by fields and they have to work.
About the site.
Yes it's basic, the toilets and showers could do with an upgrade but you get what you pay for. I used the showers several times and only used 20p each time which was plenty of time to wash my hair too. We didn't find that the site was really noisy in fact I've been to noisier places. There are two separate fields with plenty of space for children to run around and have fun.
The road down through the village can be a bit of a pain if its busy, it is very narrow. There are two roads down to the village and we walked down to the beach one day (45 minutes) I would say it tooks about 20 mins down to the village. You can also park and walk if you want to walk around the village.
There is a small shop in Slapton but we never used it. I would recommend shopping before you get to the site as you have to travel to either Dartmouth or Kingsbridge for any major shops.
The pubs in the village were nice and although we didn't eat there the food looked really nice. There is also a nice pub in East Allington which was only a few miles away in land.
All in all its a basic site with facilities available for the price you pay and I would visit this site again.

We have just had a fantastically peaceful week at this campsite. The hot weather helped, and we spent most days trying different local beaches. Torcross village is on the nearest beach and we got fish and chips there, to eat while watching the sun go down.
Beesands (along the coast a bit) had a great pub and a good shop selling locally caught fish. We had to go to Woodlands Leisure Park for the children- this year they had a special offer 7-day entry ticket.
The pitches are mostly arranged along the hedges around the site, with a huge area in the middle for children to play. We had a lovely view of the sea and wonderful evening sun (in front of the hedge nearest the bungalow).
The toilets and showers (20p) were clean and there was always hot water (free) for washing up. The fridge and freezer provided proved really useful.
Another great week in Devon- we will be back next year.

We have just returned from this site a day early.
The site is up a narrow winding road, god help you if you meet someone coming the other way when you are towing and even worse if they are towing too!
The facilities are basic to say the least. Showers and toilets in portable cabins. The same goes for the washing up area. Although they were swept out and had a cursory wipe round, none were properly cleaned out. A mucky bucket of water is left outside the showers for you to 'clean up' after you had showered. The showers are 20p for 6 minutes, I recommend putting 40p in if you want a proper shower.
The washing up area shares a tap between two sinks, which invariably other campers left filthy and I had, on many occasion, to clean out the sink prior to washing up. There are a couple of fridges and freezers to use free of charge, which would be fine if everyone was considerate and didn't leave other campers food stuff tipped everywhere whilst they searched for their own items.
Loud music, campers shouting and screaming late into the night/early hours of the morning, children playing football and yelling till past midnight, dogs off leads. The electricity went off one night and didn't go back on until the next morning. I wouldn't stay at this site again. It has the potential to be a decent camp if only the owners kept check on what was happening.
It is nowhere near anywhere and you cannot safely walk down to the pubs due to the speed of cars and tractors using the narrow lanes. Every day was a torment driving through the village to get to the main roads. There are plenty of nice places to drive out to but just hard from this site!

Cracking site if you don't mind roughing it a bit. Wonderful views across to the sea at Slapton Sands. Two fields. Loads of space between pitches and not busy.
Gentle slope but didn't notice much as we managed to find something reasonably flat and in the middle of the site. The facilities are basic but clean. 6 toilets, 4 sinks, 2 showers for each gender. Washing up facilities, huge freezer and a fridge.
Very reasonably priced as facilities are basic but clean. We walked to Slapton Sands - narrow lanes so you have to be a bit careful with traffic. The nature reserve is lovely and well worth a walk around.
The Queens Arms is perfect and we ate there on our last night. They have a few eating areas in the garden out back which is really nice. Very friendly staff and child friendly too.
We drove to Beesands and Hallsands really for the kids to swim in the sea. Shingle, small pebbles if you don't mind. But absolutely clear water and really relaxing. Would go again as we had really lovely time. Free parking too.
Blackpool Sands is well worth a visit too but parking is not free but you do get toilets, cafe, shop and it is a blue flag beach with lifeguards and no dogs.
Was very busy when we went. Superb area would definitely go again and stay at same camp site.

I think it's a bit steep to charge 20p for a shower after paying £15 to camp here for one night. The water was not hot but warmish.
The views and space are great and the whole area is TRUE DEVON!
If the water was hot and a simple shower included in the fee then this would be an ideal camping location. I would recommend but only after explaining what I picked up on with the facilities.

We wanted peace and tranquillity and that is exactly what we got. It's just a big, level field with a few hook-ups and nothing else. Quite a small windy road to get to it so not a lot of traffic. There was only us and 2 other tents for most of the week.
We pitched at the edge of the field to get hook-up but we were warned by the lady collecting money that the hedge wasn't protection from the prevailing winds. She was right. The wind speed was 24mph gusting to 26mph. Our tent was fine but we took down our extension 'just in case'!
The toilets and showers are just portable cabins, and the site fees reflect this. We paid just £12.50 including electric hook-up per night. No extra charge for the trailer or having a large tent. I used the washing-up room and there was always hot water available.
The site is quite isolated so expect to drive everywhere. We tended to be going through Kingsbridge most days so shopped at Morrisons, and there is a Tesco also being built.
We had heavy rain one day and the entrance became quite muddy but was dry the following day after the rain had stopped.
A very basic site but if you need to unwind this is an excellent place to do it.

We visited this site in august, just for three nights, excellent value for money at £14 per night. Owners are very friendly and helpful.
Shower and toilet blocks very basic, but excellent shower for 20pence.
There is a little shop on site, the daughter is very friendly and helpful.
Everyday at 5.30pm, there is a butchers delivery van providing everything from steaks to sausages, excellent for your bbq.
Roads are very narrow around slapton, not for the faint hearted, not a great road for walking into slapton, especially with young children.
Queens arms in slaton excellent food and very friendly staff, steak excellent, but very busy
Carpark, go before 7pm for a space.
Cant wait to return, site great value for money, we have just stayed at a caravan club site in hillhead, makes you appreciate smaller family run sites more.
