We spent five nights here on the main camping field. We were greeted by owner, very welcoming and friendly with lots of knowledge of the local area.
Site is clean and well kept. Most pitches are slightly sloping. Pitches are all marked and fairly spacious. Toilets and showers are clean.
There is a block for washing up and a laundry room which we did not use, Elsan disposal point and a small play area for children. Also a dog walk with doggy bags provided. Lots of local information leaflets in the laundry room. Very difficult to get a mobile phone reception, however there is a payphone on site. TV reception good.
We paid £19. 00 per night including electric which I think is reasonable for the Devon coast.
Site is convenient to access the coast path. We walked to Hope Cove in one direction which is a fairly flat walk along the coast and also to Salcombe in the other direction which is a bit steeper. Salcombe and Dartmouth well worth a visit.
We walked to the Old Inn in Malborough, takes about 30 minutes, but you would need to be careful of traffic due to the narrow lanes and high hedges. However friendly pub with good food and beer and dog friendly.
We also visited the Port Light hotel, which is about 15 minutes walk along the road up quite a steep hill, or along an overgrown track across the fields. Probably be best to book if you want to eat here, we had no problem, being there early, but others after us were being turned away. Again good food and beer and dog friendly.
There is a petrol station and shop in the village which sells just about everything you might need and is about 5 minutes drive.
Overall highly recommended site, friendly owners, great location and we would hope to visit again one day.

Lovely site with plenty of room between pitches. Very helpful ladies, who regularly visited us to make sure all was well. Lots of helpful local information too. Beautiful fields and very well kept.
Only criticism was the lack of space in showers and nowhere to put your things except a ricketty hook. If you are larger than a size 8 you might have trouble getting out of the shower again!
Lovely two days despite the appalling weather.
Getting to the site is a bit of a squeeze, we had a campervan, but the lanes were very narrow and it was difficult to pass especially coming out of the village, which was very busy.

Lovely campsite near sea and some pitches with sea view. Good spacious campsite with a decent amount of space between pitches. Fair distance to shops but all made up for because of its charm and quietness.
Owner is very helpful and nothing is too much trouble.
Adequate and clean facilities. Showers cost 20p and last about 5 minutes, these were washed regularly and has one very good hairdryer (unlike most sites).
Good site and good value for money.
We would return here and recommend this site for anybody looking for a quiet site.

Really enjoyed our weekend. Very clean site. Very quiet. The ladies who own the site are very welcoming and helpful.
Fantastic location, great walks, good facilities. Shame the showers are not included nowadays - raise the tariff and include.
The roads are narrow in places but drive carefully and you will be ok.
Salcombe is on the doorstep and the coastal walk there is awesome. Coffee at the South Sands Hotel, use the South Sands sailing school next door and the a late lunch and a jug of Pimms at the WinkingPrawn - catch the bus back to Marlboroughand then a short walk to the site down the lanes - a great day out!

We have just returned from a 6 day holiday stopping in the Paddock field at Bolberry House Farm. On arrival we pitched our tent on a slight slope in driving rain not a brilliant start to our holiday but we survived to tell the tale. We had mixed weather for the week but managed to get out every day.
The facilities for the paddock are a little walk away and down some steps. The loos and showers were kept clean and tidy and we didn't begrudge paying 20p for the showers or the washing up water. The chemical disposal point was by the reception and too far to walk so we ended up taking the loo with us on our way out every day.
Our only real gripe was that the Paddock field was very exposed to the elements. It had a lovely view but as a result it meant we were constantly hit by the sea winds so a barbecue went amiss as did sitting outside our tent in the evening. Even the wind breaks didn't seem to offer that much shelter.
Perhaps the owners could plant more hedging along the middle of the field to offer more protection.
Salcombe and Kingsbridge were in a micro-climate of their own so it could be very overcast, foggy and misty on site but in Salcombe the weather was often dry and sunny and sheltered from the sea winds.
The owners were very helpful with local information and walks etc and the fish and chip van and hog roast on site on Sundays and Wednesdays were a nice touch. Most takeaways would deliver to your pitch but we didn't try this out
Overall we would return to the area there is lots to do and see but will probably not return to the site as it was very exposed to the weather.

Have just had a week here at Bolberry. Lovely site. 20p to wash up 20p for a shower. 6 minutes is just not long enough for a woman with long hair and legs to shave!
The hog roast on a Wednesday is tasty and worth the wait.
The road to the site were treacherous, single track and you just would pray you would not meet something coming in the other direction and that was without your unit attached.
The location is fab and the ladies really friendly. The shop is a little bit lacking and generally the area itself is a little expensive.
Will stick to cornwall me thinks but would still recommend the site if you did not mind the additional costs.

We've had a great week at Bolberry Farm, we stayed in the paddock field in our VW campervan, and we had two of the static caravans for other members of the family.
My brothers family did have a problem with their shower, which didn't get resolved but the owners did give them 3 bottles of sparkling wine as compensation - which did ease the problem. The showers were great in the camping block - but I always object to paying 20p for something that should be included and they were always clean.
The fish and chip night they hold once a week was a nice touch, and the quality was good but if a stayed again I would queue 1 1/2 hours for it, I'd use one of the many take away delivery firms.
We had some great walks and cycle rides a long you don't mind going up and down dale and the beaches are just fantastic with many to choose from and when the sun shines you could be anywhere.
They could do with another kiddies playground other than the one in the main field as its too far away for the younger children to go to by themselves.
In summary, the facilities are great, the owners are helpful and give you advice on what to do, and the location makes a great base to walking, cycling, surfing, eating and drinking - try the crab sandwiches at the Snoop Inn and also the seafood platter at the crab shell inn in Kingsbridge.

We have been visiting the South Hams for many years now, my wife holidayed here with her parents as a child, now we holiday here with our own children, and family. We have just come back from Bolberry House Farm just this last weekend gone.
We had two tents, ours and the Brother-In-Law and his family and a caravan which the Grand Parents use now after tenting for many years, we booked three pitches together. We booked Bolberry Farm because my Brother-In-Law had been there the same time last year and highly recommended it.
As soon as we arrived, Fiona greeted us all as we had known her for years, such a lovely lady! The next morning Fiona popped to see us all on her daily rounds, she opened her car boot and it was full of books, leaflets etc, regarding all the surrounding area, also her own knowledge was outstanding, ie, which beaches were dog friendly, good pubs etc etc.
Regarding the site, we were in the main park and all we can say it was lovely, large open areas between pitches, lovely play area for the kids to run their energy off, and they did, very clean facilities there are four showers in each block which are 20p for six minutes, also a washing room with two washing machines and two tumble dryers. Also a washing up area with freezer for ice packs.
Nearby Hope Cove is only a few minutes in the car and if you visit I would recommend the Hope And Anchor, great food good service, and like us if you have a dog they are allowed in also.A short walk away is Thurlestone Sands a lovely beach, and if you are a National Trust member you can park for free, though we found the beach cafeteria a little on the expensive side £8.50 for a burger! the staff were not much better either, mostly we packed up for the beach. Also we would recommend the Port Light Hotel, though book in advance.
On our travels we visited Badgers Holt on Dartmoor, fabulous cream teas and food set next to a river plenty of stepping stones to entertain the children and young at heart, then Dartmouth and caught the train from Kingswear to Paignton, though Paignton to me seems too commercialised, the coast road from Dartmouth back to Kingsbridge has some outstanding views, and if you are into your WWII history Slapton Sands is worth a visit on the way.
All in all we all had a brilliant holiday, also the weather had something to do with it, we would recommend this site to anyone, considering a trip to the South Hams, and Fiona and her sister were always willing to give advise, help that we are going to book again for next year.

This site is owned by 2 sisters who are really friendly, knowledgeable and dedicated to their business. We were greeted by one of the owners who gave us all the literature on the area, sharing all her personal knowledge and advising us where to go. They made you feel welcome and special right from the start.
The ablutions were extremely clean at all times, the water was very hot, with showers costing 20p for 5 minutes, which I found was more than long enough. There were numerous fast food restaurants who would deliver to your site.
The area was beautiful, lovely scenic drives and especially lends itself to motorcycle cruising (obviously we have a motorbike), although I must say most of the roads are single track with passing areas, so you have to be an experienced driver and careful. With regards to the area around the campsite, all the places are lovely and really worth a visit, e.G. Salcombe, Dartmouth, Totnes, Hope Cove. When we left it was like we were leaving friends we had known for ages. I can truly recommend this site and we will be returning. We do not have any small children so have not commented on their play area etc.

We have been to this site on numerous occasions now & have always found it to be very very satisfactory & we highly recommend it, the owners, are 2 lovely ladies, they are always on hand to give you any assistance you require. Don't be put off because they are females, their knowledge is enormous, they always try to help in any detail you come up with
We always go to this site for our summer break, when the kids are still at school, so cannot comment on what it would be like in the school holidays. The roads approaching the site are very narrow, I now have a larger unit than I had when we went there this year 2010, & will be going again in 2011 with this unit, the only problem I experienced was not on the site but on approaching it from the last junction on the minor roads. The locals can be reluctant to back up knowing that you have a large unit that you are towing
There is a lovely bay approx one mile down the narrow road from the site called Hope Cove, the beach is great & there are launching facilities for small to medium size craft (a launching fee is payable) so enjoy it as we will be again in June 2011
