Very nice site the pitches were hard standing slabbed, which was very nice for a change no muddy boots to battle with. When we arrived we were guided to our pitch in a nice and friendly way, unlike some sites, so that was nice as well !
The wardens were very friendly and helpful and as others have said the site was immaculate. The weather was very wet as you would expect for Feb in Britain even so the site was not awash and relatively mud free.
The shower block was spotless and as others have said there is an industrial site near by but you don't notice it. There is a very nice pub (the boat Inn) 5 mins, and I mean 5 mins not 5 mins to an Olympic sprinter, I hate walking and it was fine for me!
If I had an issue with anything and believe me it is a minor thing the shower block was a bit on the cool side (it was Feb!) and the showers operate on a very quick push affair, a pet hate of mine also there are only three showers in the men's block
Not a major issue in Feb and don't let that detract from what is a gem of a site.
Nice generous hard pitches, immaculate kept site friendly wardens and a grand pub in genuine walking distance I will go back.
Just as a Note if you are fancying visiting a Indian restaurant there is a fantastic one about three miles into leek Qaram we visit a lot of restaurants when we are away, and this is one of the best, exemplary service and very nice fresh food you wont be disappointed with this one, don't be put off by the car park inside its clean, spotlessly tidy and very well run and the food is cracking I have seen some supposedly nice restaurants that pale next to this one.

Nice site, with hard standing and water at each pitch.Friendly reception with a steam train line besides the site. Great walks along the canal and a nice pub very dog friendly 5 minutes walk away. Don't be put off by the industrial estate you drive into - trhe countryside is great.
A word of warning if you are coming in from Congleton, Macclesfield direction - don't follow satnav as this will take you up three miles of very, and I mean very narrow lanes!
Couldn't get satellite reception down the bottom of the site but many others unit seemed to have no problems.
Will return to this site in the future.

I loved this site. It was so quiet and restful. The wardens were friendly and helpful. The site including showers and toilets absolutely immaculate.
The railway station 5 mins down the road was charming and it was great to see and hear the steam trains passing close to the site. We had a lovely walk along the canal. Leek is a 'proper' town with lots of little independent shops and an interesting market.
The chippy on 'The Avenue' was very friendly and did great fish and chips. I will definitely visit this site again as the location and amenities were absolutely brilliant and I came home feeling really rested.

Glencote Caravan Park was the first site in four years that I have left feeling disappointed with. The site is in a nice place with the canal / railway / pub all within walking distance and some lovely flowers and trees around.
We also never had to wait for showers and there was plenty of hot water. Although the toilet blocks could do with updating they were pretty clean.
However this is more of a caravan site and not really very well equipped for tents at all. There are 5 tent pitches on the site and these are positioned at the very bottom of the site between a road, the railway line and the dumping area for the grass cuttings (very smelly) and considering that tents and caravans pay the same premium price, the standard is not the same by far!
The children's play equipment has been removed for health and safety reasons so all there is for children now is a grassed area with football nets and this is next to the fishing lake (not a great combination!) There is also no shop on site.I wouldn't visit Glencote caravan park again and feel they could do so much better with what really could have been a fantastic site.

Lovely site and lovely owners, we visited for a short weekend break with our kiddies 8, 6 and 7 months, as we haven't camped for over a year wanted to have a little break somewhere, the shower block is clean and warm with hot showers, all in all very relaxing site with lovely flat pitches.
Our kids loved the steam train that went past throughout the day, site is set in a lovely little village and a pub 2 minutes walk from the site 'the boat inn' great food at a reasonable price! Would recommend and will be visiting again when the weather allows us too.

Busy, but everything was spotless.
Cant thank the owners enough, from the moment we arrived to the time we left they were so helpful.
Only negative was we never saw the ice cream van!
Must admit as we drove towards the site you go past a industrial site an I thought hell where we going, but as you go past the industrial units it turns into a lovely setting for a site.
Steam trains going past close to the site, good pub close by, will certainly visit again, not even put off by the thunder an lightening flashing over head all night

My idea of the perfect camp site is with idyllic surroundings with an interesting feature, A good pub with-in walking distance (on the flat) and a river, plus very nice helpful people to greet you. Just chill out listen to the birds only the occasional disturbance of No 5199 Steam locomotive to make your ears happy!
The Boat Pub a good mix or real ale, and excellent food at a price that isn't a rip off, and a river / canal its a lovely walk on a nice day down the tow path to the next pub The Black Lion (its a long way there and a long way back if your not a good walker.
Back to Glencote! showers and toilets immaculate loads of hot water (and non of these silly push button valves, so you can enjoy a shower, the site is very clean and tidy and well run. The ice cream man called Friday night but no shop or paper delivery (this would be a bonus as all other amenities are there

We chose this site just 20minutes from home because my hubby had a dentist appointment while we were there, and also the fact it was our first camping outing in over 15 years.
We were very lucky to get a pitch, which was hard standing, made pegging down a little difficult if not impossible lol.
It is a fantastic site everywhere very clean, toilets and showers spotless.
The grass is so well kept, at first we were afraid to walk on it lol.
Tom the owner and all his staff very friendly and helpful. There is a fishing lake, which my son and grandson made full use of.
The grandchildren also enjoyed a ride on the Churnet Valley railway.
I think the site would benefit from a shop or at least a daily milkman visiting

This was the first time we have been since the previous owner Tim left and Tom and Alan have taken over. The site is still spotless along with the toilets. The new owners are very friendly and are always walking round making sure everything alright.
The Boat pub is only a couple of minutes walk from the botton of the site and still serves good food (it is advisable to book as it does get busy)
The TV reception is none existent. Most of the seasonal vans have satellite.
The pitches are large and on hard standing.
Well worth a visit

This was our fist visit to Glencote and we chose this particular campsite because of the good reviews it had been given. We were not disappointed! Although there were quite a lot of caravans on the site it was still quiet. There were quite a few caravans that were pitched there for the season and they were not all occupied at the time of our five day stay. We were on the first part of the campsite, just along from the barrier gate. We found this the ideal spot to be. We were not overlooked at all as our caravan was pitched next to the hedge (which does have a road behind it, but the sound of the odd passing car was never obtrusive)and in front of us was a good sized stretch of grass before the roadway that runs through the site. On the other side of the roadway was hedging that had caravans behind. Although myself or my husband did not use the fishing pool it was a good size and seemed very popular. The children's play area was more or less just that. There were no swings but a football pitch and an area that some of the children were having a game of tennis in. The site was spotless as well as the amenities. We never had to queue at all for the showers. There were four showers in the ladies, but one was locked whilst we were there. The local pub can be reached by walking to the far end of the site, along the lane and over the Chedderton Steam Railway line (literally a 5 minutes walk). Be warned - some cars do seem to travel quite fast along this lane which backs onto the caravan site. There is a One Stop shop that we walked to which was past the local pub and up a very steep hill. Unfortunately we chose to do this walk on one of the hottest days of the year (not a good idea). It took us about 25 or 30 minutes. Needless to say we went by car the next time we were short of supplies. We would definitely return to this campsite again as we found it very central for sightseeing. We visited Chatsworth House, (about 50 minutes drive), Dovedale, Buxton and a couple of National Trust properties and gardens.
