Always choose a campsite from the reviews posted and this site lived up to expectations.
Friendly staff, nice showers, clean and tidy site.
Had a meal at the Boat Inn, lovely food and good value for money, would recommend it.
Just a couple of niggles, road noise from the lane adjacent, can't be helped I realise that just a shame to spoil the peace and quiet. And a small shop would be a benefit, just stocking basics, but owner says too much hassle with health & safety and hygiene rules.
Otherwise a lovely place and for campers who don't visit the same place twice, we will visit again.

We stayed here half term week and unfortunately it rained hard for the first three days. We had been placed at the bottom of the field and it was very wet and muddy down there. However it wasn't a problem at all, as some of the campers left the owners placed new campers further up the field to minimise the churning up of the grass.
The team at glencote were friendly and welcoming, the toilet / shower blocks were immaculate. The site is very well placed to visit lots of the sites up in staffordshire.
I'd stay here again.

Stayed here from the 8-15th April. Fantastic site and Tom and Alan are fantastic and cannot do enough for you. We have never met anyone more passionate about the area they live in than Alan. Unfortunately this is infectious and meant I have come home for a rest after exhausting walks and cycle rides!
Site is fabulous with lovely level hardstanding pitches. You do have to go over grass to get to the pitch. However, we were in a 3.85T motorhome and it did rain quite a bit at times yet we never got bogged down and I am pleased to say that we didn't churn up the ground at all. Water seems to be on the surface and look quite worrying yet underneath is nice and firm.
Site was quiet at night even though full the whole time we were there. As others have said lovely walks/pubs. Plenty to do in the area or just laze around the site. Internet is excellent and good value for a week. Showers etc all very clean and plenty of hot water but at the end of the day it comes down to the people that use them. Big mat to wipe your feet on which one person chose not to use and walked mud everywhere! Why do people do this?
Keep up the good work and I am sure we will be returning to the area / camp site. We will almost definitely use the new site in Knutsford as I am sure this will be a huge success as well.

This place is an absolute peach. The site is surprisingly quiet even when it is busy, and the hardstanding pitches are really useful in wet weather. There is a great pub within walking distance, and when the Cheddleton Railway is in steam you can stop at two other locations, both with great pubs!
My only gripe would be the prices. I know it seems to be the going rate for top sites but I still think it's a bit pricey.

Visited this site after reading about it on UKCampsite.co.uk, the site is great very well ran. Very helpful staff couldn't do enough for you. Shower block very clean and warm during cool weather, local pub just over the railway lines was brill good drink and food, friendly locals too. Spent just the wk end but will be back in summer 09, everywhere will be in full bloom that makes this site worth another visit. Fishing pool looks good and will give it a try on next visit. Well done to all for making our stay brill.

We were visiting Alton towers. Called this site on the Sunday and was surprised that there was any space being august bank holiday. Told that there was a cancellation etc. This site is very well kept. Spaces between pitches was fine. Most of the people by us stay there all season and we was told that most of the people do so this site seems a really popular place. It has a steam railway that runs right through it on the weekend.
Nice site, and very well looked after.

This is a lovely well maintained site in a great location. We, and other tents, were pitched between hardstanding pitches and in some cases this meant there wasn't enough space to peg out all guy lines. Fine in good weather but you wouldn't want to risk that if a wind started blowing!
I found it expensive too, a pitch with no EHU is £18 a night for tent, 2 people and car. If one of your 2 people is a child they'll charge an extra £2. 50 on top
So nice site and could have been one I returned to despite the price

Facilities could not be faulted. Toilets always clean. Everything was in easy reaching distance, pubs, shops etc. The nearby old Railway Station was very good. Takes you back in time. Like the idea of personal water tap right by Electric Hook up. Staff always friendly, even gave us a hand putting the Trailer Tent up. Could do with taking the Giant Chess set from the brochure because it's not used anymore. Mind you that's because of the mindless idiots who borrowed them and smashed them. Well done! There were a couple who did not observe the 'No noise after 10.30 p.M.' but it didn't go on to long really. Even so will be visiting again.

I stayed at Glencote with kids in a tent with electric hook-up twice during the school holidays. My kids love to fish so it's great for them, plus we went to Alton Towers, hired bikes to cycle around the Derwent reservoir (Dambusters, ~1hr drive away), walked along Dovedale, walked along the canal & got the steam train back and dropped in on the pubs we passed.
The site drains well, the toilets are clean and the showers always hot. The owner Tom, and his staff are really friendly plus the site is quite small and mostly for caravaners who pay repeat visits so the atmosphere feels safe & friendly. The gate has card access only.
The local Morrisons is 2 miles away in Leek but there are a couple of local shops and a chippie however the Boat Inn is only a fews mins walk away. A milkman visits daily and fishing bait can be delivered however my kids were catching 10-14lb carp with mussels.
Our week cost £157.50 (there were no power cuts) I would recommend this site and would go back again anytime. However, the park seemed full most of the time so book in advance if you want electric hook-up during school holidays.

We went to this site on the wettest weekend in July! It was our first camping experience and we LOVED it. The pond is so pretty and it is clearly a bit attraction for local fisherman who are very friendly. We went to the Boat pub that is very close to the site - it has the covered area outside which meant that we could sit outside with out very generous basket of chips and manage to stay very dry. The steam railway is also very nearby and the children loved it. I can't stress enough just how lovely this site is. We will definitely return there.
