March 2004 This site is very well kept, the pitches are spacious and level, the toilets and showers were heated and very clean, the owners were very helpful, even supplying a booklet they had compiled with walks and places of interest. The ducks are delightful, and seem to know as soon as you are about to have a meal. There is a lane next to the site which gets very busy at times and has no footpath, but just up the road is the old railway station, (unfortunately not running during our stay). Next to this there is the canal with colourful barges on it, next to this is the Boat pub which serves excellent food and they really make you welcome. All this makes up for the other end of the lane which is industrial units. Dog walking is really restricted to the canal side. Many of the places in the area including the resevoir is dogs on leads only.
I would visit this site again the owners seem to have got things just right.

September 2003 This was our first time camping and we where recommended to this site from a collegue at work. The site was beautifully looked after and the owners where very friendly. we also had fantastic weather which has now put us into a false sense of security for our next trip which is toCromer at Easter.
The showers toilets and washing facilities where kept very clean and the ducks made sure you where up early!

11th - 14th September Excelent site :o)
We were looking for a good site close to Alton Towers. This site looked and sounded perfect for us. On arrival we where lead to our pitch and where told about all the ammenities etc.
We were pitched right near the play area which was great as we had our 9 year old daughter and 10 year old niece with us. The play area had a giant chess set and giant draughts set along with a permanent badmington net and combined football basketball pitch. No swings or climbing equipment though.
Each pitch was immaculate. The hardstanding was big enough for our large twin axle van which is very unusual. We usually find we have to squeeze into the pitches on most sites. There was plenty of room in front of the hardstanding and between vans. We did not have our awning but if we did it would have fitted very neatly around what was left of the hardsatnding. Instead we had a nice paved patio :o)
The toilet block was very clean and tidy.
The steam train is really worth a ride. Helped to fill our sunday before we left.
The only thing negative we could think of about the site was the lack of a shop. Even if they supplied a few basics it would have helped. There was a store not too far away and we were very close to Leek which had 3 or 4 supermarkets and plenty of other stores about.
A very nice break indeed and to top it off the friday was a perfect day to visit Alton Towers as it was nowhere near packed and we managed to get on the big rides with only 5 - 15 minutes queing. The smaller rides did not really have any queing at all.

August 2003 Excellent site - the best we've been to!!
Owners are very helpful. Showers & toilets extremely clean. Site is very flat & immaculately maintained. It's on the edge of the Peak District National Park and close to Alton Towers. There's also a lovely village pub just a couple of minutes walk away down a country lane.
Bonus point for me - ducks visited us for breakfast!!

2000 Immaculate site in nice location. Steam trains run alongside. Minutes from steam railway station with Thomas the tank engine etc on special occasions. Canal runs just around the corner with nice pub at the junction. Owners friendly and helpful.

April 2003 Just spent our Anniversary here and had a brilliant time. We were right next to the Churnet Valley Railway. Site is kept immaculately clean, especially the toilets and showers. Would recommend the site to everyone.

22/03/03 Just had a second weekend at this site, both were brilliant.Good points, good size level pitches, grass trimmed and cuttings collected, very clean toilet block. The site is surrounded by hills so TV & mobile reception is poor, also there is a lane running along side which appears to go to nowhere but is quite busy. Will definitly visit again.

2002 Hi fly fishing from glencotes is about 3 miles. Glencotes is a lovley site, playground on for kids, nice area and has a course fishing lake. Toliets and showers are very clean
There is also Rudgard Lake near to as well but I dont know if you can get day tickets. There is quite a few course fishing lakes in the area there is also Bridgemere Garden centre and Stapley Water Gardens about 15 to 20 miles away. You wont be dissapointed with Glencotes

This must be one of the best sites to go if you want a bit of nostalgia.the site is located outside of the market town of leek it has mainly tourers with a few tent pitches,it has all the facillities even a small fishing lake.the joy of this site is it is 100 yrds from the cheddleton steam railway that runs every weekend and trust me it is fantastic ,it also boasts a canal nearby with great walks alongside the railway we rate it at 8.5 out of ten
