Me and the 2 children .Had a little weekend break and really enjoyed the farm.
Lovely showers .And vending units for hot and cold drinks crisps and sweets. Piped music in shower and toilet area .Would go again
£5 per person a bargain.
Children loved the chickens and little rabbits & sheep that float around you.
As per usual I found all people around me helpful and friendly just like the farm owners so as my children had never been camping before the experience here has left them happy to go camping with me anytime. So that's worth bundles

When you enter the farm take the road to the right that takes you to the back of the farm and the camping area, there is a little sign that says 'reception' and you climb the steps up to the farm door. Greeted by the friendly farmer who pointed out the facilities and told us to pitch anywhere below the top tier (which is EHU). Nice and relaxed site, not many rules, although a no music rule after midnight would be good. Stunning views of the countryside and a relatively short walk into the spa town of beautiful Buxton. Good facilities and free showers, excellent undercover washing up area, no play area for children and when full not much space for them to run around in, all in all an excellent site that we shall revisit.

This is a really good option if you are wanting somewhere to base yourself to explore the peaks.
I went with a friend and stayed for 3 nights. We went to do 3 days of mountain biking and it was perfect. Lots of space for tents, electric points and very clean.
Buxton is a pleasant one mile walk away and we went in every night although the walk back is uphill!
It seems to be very child friendly and the showers are brilliant! Hot and very powerful! Makes it a joy to have a shower at the end of a day on the bikes!
Only £5pppn. There's only 3 showers and the units are a bit small but that was never a problem for us. Take your own toilet roll. There was none in there o the last day of our stay.

I really enjoyed this site, the views are lovely and the campsite is tiered a walk into Buxton was well worth the visit and there are really good shops in the town centre.
The toilet block and washing up area are very basic and could be improved by some tiling, the shower cubicles are small.
My biggest problem were the midges, we were plagued by them, I know this isn't the fault of the campsite but they are a problem
How ever I will 100% return to this site but with plenty of repellent

My wife and I camped at Cold Springs Farm Camp Site for one night, which was last Saturday. We shall definitely go back. Its very reasonably priced, great views, very friendly and close to Buxton.
We read the reviews on here, prior to going, and generally agree with them.
Luckily the weather was dry, humid but only limited sun. It is about a mile up Manchester Road from Buxton centre (the Buxton to Whaley Bridge road), near the hospital, through probably the moneyed area of Buxton, with a posh looking golf club there to one side.
The site has a toilet and shower block which is fine. Chickens wander around, but were never a problem, except for the racket from them, and the dogs in the kennel next door too, early in the morning. If you heard it, you hadn't drunk enough the night before!
There were plenty enough people for an atmosphere on site, but it wasn't crowded. The atmosphere was great; very convivial.
Farmers Syd's very friendly dog came to see us when we were pitching the tent. A Staffie, I think. Once set up, we sat outside with a coffee and watched a buzzard soaring some way off. A marvellous sight. We never saw any curlews or lapwings but I guess you get them round the area.
The view of the hills opposite is really lovely, especially on a nice evening. To the left distance, about 2 miles away, is the upper corner of Buxton (on its west side) where the Cat and Fiddle, and Leek roads disappear up into the hills.
The drive along the Buxton to Leek road is stunning scenery, going past The Roaches, which are hills so-named by Napoleonic Wars French POW's, I believe. Further on the Winking Man isolated pub had a 'reputation' a long time ago for strippers and male coach parties. I know; my mate used to go!
We went down into Buxton in the evening, on the razz. It is about a mile back down Manchester Road from the campsite to the near part of Buxton centre, and provides stacks of pubs and eateries. The walk from Cold Springs to the near part of the town centre is exactly 20 minutes, and it isn't a steep road, whatever else is said here.
The first part of town that you come to, at the bottom of the hill, is the rear of The Old Club House pub, which is next to The Buxton Opera House, which collectively oozes old Victorian charm. Sat outside on a Saturday night is a gathering place and good atmosphere.
Around Buxton, on the razz, head up to the old market place. There are numerous pubs there. The Sun Inn is an old world gem, and the Swan is a great unspoilt one too. Unfortunately, when sat outside the Sun Inn, it sounded like a major scrap was happening down the road at the Cheshire Cheese pub. Some of the local tractor boys had probably had too much 'sauce'. The local constabulary were soon on the scene, but it lasted some time.
The Cheshire Cheese is a larger bare bones pub with live music, which isn't bad, except that a) they have ruined what was once a fine hostelry, and b) attracts the local riff-raff.
A big disappointment is the closed Bakers Oven further down the road, which was a CAMRA noted place. The Kings Head is nice. The Eagle is delightfully sleazy. There is a Robinsons pub which is basic but pleasant. The Vault is a late bar job with plenty of eye candy! A second late bar went unvisited. We had had enough by 1.30am!
There is a good range of ales available in Buxton and worth a mention is the Ramsays Bar in the Buckingham hotel, past the end of the Pavilion, which has a good range.
The one downer was getting back. To be charged over £7 for a taxi back the the site (approx. 1.5 miles) is an utter ripoff.
Would we go back to Cold Springs? Its not if, but when.

Have to echo the two previous reviews. Nicely tiered site which was a bargain at £5 per person per night with hookup and two cars. The size of our tent,6.2m x 7.5m, was no problem with the owners.
Didn't have many dealings with the owners but they were friendly with a very laid back approach to actually taking the money.
Were sung to sleep on the first night by another camper with his guitar, quite cool really. Happily nobody from the Campsite Gestapo had him shot for enjoying himself after curfew.
Showers are clean, hot and plentiful, the floors are a bit rough but not a problem.
Would definitely use this site again.

A lovely site on 4 tiers with a beautiful outlook.
1 mile from Buxton, with basic but clean facilities, plenty of hot water and good pressure on the showers. Friendly, helpful site owners and flat pitches- a bargain at a fiver a night. I have been to better (much more expensive) sites- but nothing this good at this price.

Our first vist to Cold Springs and defiantly worth a return. We went on bank holiday weekend and as expected was very busy. As it had been rather wet we could not take our car to the pitch, but this was not a problem. The family running the site were friendly and very helpful and seemed genuinely keen to ensure everyone had an enjoyable stay.
There were showers and toilets and these were clean and water was always warm when we used them.
The site is about a mile from buxton and is in a central position to do plenty of exploring. Would recommend.

We Stayed at cold springs farm last bank holiday weekend for 2 nights. The farm was basic but the town is only 1 mile from site. Showers and toilet facilities were a plenty and were always warm and clean. The site was not too busy which gave us plenty of room for tent and car. We did not book but were told we could just turn up. There was no problem getting a space. Very helpful friendly owners. The £5 pp pn was reasonable for the facilities provided. Surrounding views were amazing, Well worth a visit to the peak district.

First the positive, the views are lovely, the campsite is tiered and we were on the second where we could still get an ehu, and all the views, a walk into buxton was well worth the visit, the museum has a really interesting exhibit about local stone and there are really good shops in the town centre.
Thats it for positive, the toilet block and washing up area could be much improved by some tiling, the shower cubicles are small, cramped and not as clean as I would have liked, the toilets on the other hand were so clean that my 2 year old nieces trousers were ruined by bleach.
My biggest problem were the midges, they were mentioned in a couple of other reviews, we were plagued by them, I know this isn't the fault of the campsite but they should let you know, take and use plenty of insect repellent and eat indoors. I have never been anywhere where there have been so many and for that reason I won't ever be going back.
