Me and my brother stayed at this site, it was very last minute, we was told not to book and just turn up, there was plenty of room on the site even though it was very busy. Everyone there seemed really helpful. The shower block were really clean and nice. Its the first time I have ever been camping and I was really surprised how clean they were. I was quite busy on the Saturday as people were waiting for them but other than that i see no problems with them. The walk in to Buxton wasn't to bad at first, it took about 20 Min's, but walking back up the hill is a killer specially when the weather is red hot. Walking up and down the hill three times plus per day does you in, I would class myself as a fairly fit person as I go to the gym four ties per week but it even tired me out in the end. The kennels and cattery didn't cause many problems, the dogs seemed to bark for about 15 Min's every now and then but at night you didn't even here from them. There's not much there or even a pub close by but I would recommend the site to anyone.

This campsite has lovely views across the countryside, and the owners were very friendly – they booked us in for the bank holiday weekend at a week’s notice, didn’t ask for a deposit etc. The toilets and the shower block were very clean with fresh flowers. When we rang the owner said she could squeeze our party in on her lawn but when we arrived around 4pm on saturday as agreed, she had already put somebody on the lawn, but there was a area for us to camp. I can only presume that she say's yes to everybody and its just luck if you can get on. Having said that its a lovely little site, tidy and well looked after. We all agreed that we would go again but only for a weekend as the noise from the kennels next door is very annoying. The site owner did apologise for the noise. Cockerals make sure that you don't miss any daylight but hey what do you expect from a working farm.

A really pleasant site run by friendly people. Facilities newly refurbished to a good standard. Good views and not too far (walkable) from Buxton centre. Would definitely return even for an overnight stay over a weekend as less than an hour's drive from Manchester.

Just spent Saturday night at Cold Springs Farm. Couldn't find the entrance as they are currently creating a new entrance that takes you round the back of the cow shed. As yet it's a bit rocky, but no doubt by next year will be a lot more compacted or even tarmaced?? The site was very quiet, though the views were nothing like as spectacular as we'd imagined having read the reviews (Dent and the Lakes are much nicer!).
Facilities-wise, the 4 toilets in the ladies were immaculately clean. There was even a small bunch of flowers and a box of tissues included. We didn't try the showers, but would recommend flip-flops ladies! Washing up facilites we located overlooking the barn. There was even a bunch of straw on the floor and for those like me who are allergic-types, don't forget your inhalers! Giant rat also spotted in the barn, but what can you expect in such a rural setting and on a working farm? Noise from the dog kennels wasn't too bad - we were more plague by the midges!
As for the 10 minute walk to Buxton - more like 20, but all downhill! (£3.50 back in a taxi and worth every penny!). Plenty of pubs in Buxton, especially in Higher Buxton, near the market.
Will probably go again now that we've discovered Derbyshire (after years of camping in the Lakes and Dales). Very enjoyable night.

Would definitely stay at this site again. Brilliant location and beautiful surroundings: really handy for Buxton (great town) but rural enough to still feel like you're getting away from it all. Went midweek with a small group of friends with young kids. Hardly anyone else there so loads of space to run around. Brilliant! Loads of wildlife around including loads of Curlews and Lapwings. Stayed in sloping field at the bottom which was great but extremely windy. I would definitely go in one of the higher flatter fields next time as they're a bit more sheltered by the trees. It was also a bit of a trek to the facilities from the bottom field. Really impressed with facilities: nice showers, clean toilets and was nice to have radio piping through so could sing in the shower! The owners were friendly as was the farm dog. If you're looking for somewhere not too commercial and informal but still with reasonable facilities this is ideal. Great for gorgeous Goyt Valley too.

The toilets and showers have been upgraded, still basic but all new. 4 toilets in the ladies and all very clean. The owners are very friendly too. They are in the process of creating a family room, but that was still under construction when we visited. There is a lot of noise from the boarding kennels further up the road, but that wasnt too much of a problem. This is a basic site and prices are quite high for what you get, but the views are spectacular, where ever you pitch its beautiful! We would go back again

I visited for may day bank holiday. I found the site very relaxed, which was great. I am part of a group of around 12 and can find it difficult finding a site that wants a group. The site owners were very welcoming, and there was a good mixture of people. At the moment there is 3 main fields to pitch with more being made. There is electric for those who want it. The showers and toilets were clean and well presented. There was only 3 showers so it can be a wait in the morning. At present the site has planning for a new toilet block which should be great when its done.
We had a great time as there is lots to see if you want to walk and a nice lake/pond to site by. the ground could be difficult to pitch in make sure you have a mallet. Would def go back.

Just spend 1 night came back yesterday. The site is on 3 levels and the hook ups are on the top which is level. We only booked the night before so ended up on the sloping field. The surrounding area is beautiful, you could not ask for more gorgeous setting. Costly for type of site and amenities at £4.50 per person per night! The noise for the dogs during the night was awful, the owner was very pleasant. The owner has a dog which was allowed to roam around and we saw it on a numerous occasions going into other tents. One of our children does not like dogs, so this became a bit of a problem at times. The showers and toilets were damp and cold and needs updating for the money charged in my opinion. However we would go again if the cost was reduced. No problem with size of tent a Diablo 600.

First for the positives - this campsite has lovely views across the countryside, there are a number of walks virtually on the doorstep and Buxton is close enough for shopping/the pub provided your legs can make it up the mile of hill back to the site! And the owners were exceedingly friendly – they booked us in for the bank holiday weekend at a week’s notice, didn’t ask for a deposit etc.
And I think that’s where the problems came from – they had obviously been so nice to everybody ringing up at the last moment that the campsite was WAY overbooked, and everybody was crammed in. Luckily we had arrived mid-afternoon on the Friday and found a good space. People were arriving up to 11pm that night and things were pretty cramped by then. HOWEVER even more cars started piling in on Saturday and tents ended up within 2 feet of each other, with cars parked haphazardly around the site.
The toilets and showers are basic, but could probably suit around 40 people OK. Given that there were at least 50+ tents full of people and children that weekend the toilets were far from OK. The ladies have 2 toilets with two sinks, then there is one shower with a sink. The toilets were clean-ish and smelled OK, but the shower was awful. The room was small, flooded with water and had scum all up the sides of the cubicle. There was always a queue for it too, regardless of the time of day you went. Apparently it was a similar situation for the blokes too.
One final point is that there is no children’s play-area. Not having children, I didn’t think this would be an issue, until they started playing outside my tent at 6am in the morning…
At £4 per person per night the site and facilities were what I expected, I think it was the overcrowding that made things seem worse than they actually were.

We have just spent a wonderful weekend at this small, quiet campsite. The site is a long walk or a short drive from the centre of Buxton, and is not far away from the beautiful Goyt Valley.
The facilities are adequate, and certainly kept better than at other campsites at a similar price point. There is a small kitchen for washing the pots, and the usual toilet facilities. An unusual addition is a small chocolate dispenser in the corridor - suffice to say the kids loved that addition!
There are electric hookups available, although only on one field. If you have a caravan or tent that requires electricity, phone ahead to make sure there's room. There is water available from a tap on the driveway between fields.
At £3.50 per person per night, this site is a bargain. One pleasant surprise is that there was no 'checking out' time so we could pack away at a leisurely pace and enjoy the sunshine. I am not sure if this changes if the site is busy, though.
Overall, well worth a look for a quiet weekend.
