This park is one of the nicest we have ever strayed on. It is so nice to have space between caravans and not be put into rows and rows looking straight into the back of the caravan in front. I think every pitch is against a hedge or flower bed so you can always get a little privacy. Where we stayed on the park you could hear a pin drop it was so quiet. Spotless shower blocks and enough in the play areas to keep the children busy. We had to call out a member of staff at 11. 30 pm as we had a minor crisis and the staff were very kind.

Wonderful park, wonderful staff. Perfect location. We will be back with friends in 2014

We were looking forward to staying at this site having read some of the excellent reviews. Unfortunately we didn't find it lived up to expectations. We didn't find the staff particularly welcoming and whilst we realise it is the end of the season and there was just one week left before the site closed there was absolutely no atmosphere on site at all. At one point we were heading to the shop 15 minutes before the specified closing time and when we were a couple of metres away from the door they turned the sign to closed. The Staff would have seen us coming and so even if they were closing early they could have popped their heads round the door and explained this to us. Also, ensure you have everything you need with you when staying at the end of the season as the shop had only a few provisions left.

The lower toilet block was clean, warm and had plenty of hot water but I dread to think what it would be like in the height of summer with just two showers in this block. I also agree with a previous comment about the hairdryer being right next to the hand dryer. This could be very awkward at peak times.

The kids play area was fine for older kids but there wasn't much for the younger ones apart from one swing and a covered picnic table. Plenty of room for running about and playing ball games though.

On our second night the weather was particularly windy and wet with some very, very strong gusts which even had us worried at times. As we had no mobile signal, internet or TV it would have been a nice touch if the staff could have come round to make sure everyone was ok or perhaps popped round before dark to let everyone know we were in for some windy weather overnight (this was the night before the St Jude storm and we were worried the weather reports of the earlier week were wrong and it was going to hit a night early).

We love the area of Lyme Regis and would definitely return but sadly not to this site.

We camped in the top field which was virtually deserted when we pitched our tent only to discover two tents had practically pitched on top of us when we returned from our day out. It was mildly annoying but no fault of the campgrounds.

Also the field is VERY close to the A305 and we heard it all night long even so far as to be woken by sirens one night. You couldn't enjoy a peaceful evening watching the stars for all the traffic.

The top field also doesn't have washing up facilities which meant that I couldn't really ask the children to do it.

They mowed the field about 2 hours before it started raining so everyone had grass all over themselves and their shoes.

I didn't think the shop was particularly well stocked and you must order your newspapers the night before which we hadn't realised/remembered.

Those squabbles aside, the campsite is clean and well maintained. The children loved to play in the forest and the play areas. The portakabin loos and showers were more than adequate. The location is great with quick access to Lyme Regis and Charmouth.

We probably won't return but only because the noise from the traffic.

Stayed in the camping field which had plenty of room for tents and games. The field’s own toilet blocks with showers were good, but a little cramped at very busy times (not too often). The main facilities a couple of minutes stroll away were excellent, the best I’ve ever used on a campsite – plenty of toilets and sinks and very roomy showers and surprisingly not busy anytime I went to use them. There’s also a good wash up facility next to it. (A bin for waste and a few coat-hooks would have been handy)

Staff were very friendly and helpful. Made use of baked potato / roast pork man – enjoyed both meals. Site well located for coastal resorts and walks. Tesco in Axminster not too far away for a decent shop. Recommend the Old Inn at Kilmington along the A35 for a great pub meal (would cost you quite a bit with a large family though).

Only two downsides. The first they can do nothing about – the A35 runs right past the field. It’s not horrendous and we got used to it, but I prefer not to hear traffic noise when camping. The second would be a wash-up facility next to the toilet block on the field (nothing fancy just a few sinks with hot water under a roof would do).

Overall I would definitely recommend staying here.

This is definitely the best campsite that I have visited. The facilities are very good (if a little dated) and the staff are extremely friendly.

The staff make this site what it is and they are always willing to help with whatever it is you need.

The position of the site is very good for visiting East Dorset and West Devon.

The shower block is always clean and there is not usually much of a queue.

I would highly recommend this site.

My husband and myself along with our two daughters and their families (9 people and 3 caravans in total ) spent a most enjoyable 5 days at this campsite.

We all found this to be one of the most loveliest campsite we had visited. Staff were very friendly and helpful site itself was beautifully kept, showers toilets washing up facilities kept very clean. A fish and chip van came to site once a week. Nice

First of all I will start with a very small niggle, the sign for Monkton Wyld is a little too far in off the road and I drove straight past! but that's it everything else is almost perfect. This is a lovely site, its big but doesn't feel it because its subdivided into smaller sections.

The showers and toilets are first class and kept lovely and clean, the site has a small shop which stocks most things. On our first night it rained hard for about three hours and we were quite worried about flooding but in the morning there was hardly a puddle.

There are some lovely places to visit, Beer, Charmouth, Seaton and Bridport are just a few miles away while Lyme Regis is just a seven minute drive. We can't wait to rebook because like Arnie we will be back!

Stayed here one night and loved it brill quiet site, a little to far to walk to Lyme Regis or the nearest pub (very busy road to negotiate).

There is a bus service from the main road but probably easier and safer to drive and park in the huge car parks and they are cheap for cars not campervans. As they charge hourly for us. The site is very clean and well laid out with friendly staff, Unfortunately I would stay nearer Lyme Regis next time in the area. Not because of the site but convenience.

We were a big party which stayed for three nights in the camping field. From the moment we arrived it was fantastic!

Really accommodating staff and such a wonderful field that had plenty of room for the kids to run and play in.

The site is exceptionally well thought out and although it is primarily a caravan site it works very well for campers.

The toilet block in the camping field was spotlessly clean with very hot showers, the washing up facilities were scrupulously clean as well.

The only downside was the fog that seemed to hang over the site!

Fun was had by all and a definite guaranteed place to return as there is so much to explore in this area.

This was our second visit to Monkton Wyld camping field and have thoroughly enjoyed both visits. The staff are always so friendly and helpful.

The camp field is situated at the top of this large site and is only used during the school summer holidays.

Big improvements this year with the temporary toilet and shower block, all that is needed now is a temporary washing up station. (I did request for next year!), but this is just a short bimble through the little wood.

There are two play areas for children and a wooded area next to the field where children can play and build dens.

The camping field is ideal for big set ups and large groups, there are no set out pitches you just choose your spot on this large relatively flat field and get on with it!

The site is situated on the side of the A35 which means easy access to Axminster which has a few shops and a Tescos, and short drives to Lyme Regis, Charmouth, Seatown, Bridport, which hosts a market every Wednesday. Although being close to the main road also means some traffic noise.

Inland, Forde Abbey and gardens is beautiful and worth visit and we recently discovered Lamberts Castle Hill Fort and Pilsdon Penn Hill fort which boasts to have the highest point in Dorset.

We shall be returning next August, (the kids are insisting on it) and shall probably be camping in the same spot again like we did this year!
