We have just got back from spending a lovely week staying in the holiday cottage at Monkton Wyld camping and caravanning site. The well-equipped cottage (sleeps 4) is modern, quiet and spacious with it's own parking, enclosed back garden and is dog-friendly. Any hitches were dealt with immediately by the management with the minimum of fuss. Situated very close to Lyme, Charmouth and Axminster, we spent our week walking the dogs along the cliffs, stopping for coffees and ice creams, dining at the River Cottage, searching for fossils and touring the surrounding area. The campsite itself looked very well managed with the best pitches situated at the far end of the site to avoid road noise from the A35. There is also an apartment and a farmhouse that sleeps 8-10 people. Handy for any non-campers who would like to join family/friends using the campsite. Highly recommended.

We stayed on the site in July this year.
The main site is beautifully landscaped and the camping field is spacious and flat, we and our friends we were able to pitch our tents together with plenty of room for the children to play. The Kids loved it.
We were advised when booking our holiday that the 'camping Field' was a few minutes walk away from the main facilities. The walk to the toilet block was via a woodland path which required a torch after dark but was great fun for the children. The toilet block was always spotless despite the site being very busy.
The local pub is child and dog friendly and serves good food. Although approx 1 mile away the girl in the office showed us a route down the country lane which made for a pleasant walk and was much safer than walking along the A35 with the children and the dog.
The children loved fossil hunting on the beach at Charmouth
In summary a great site well positioned, well run and very friendly. We will go back.

This is a lovely campsite. The staff were very friendly and gave us a single night’s tent site in the camping field even though this was against the policy of two nights only over weekends.
Although we had been warned that there was a significant walk from the camping field to the amenities we didn’t find it a problem. In fact the kids enjoyed the short walk through the wood, which was well lit and signed. There was plenty of room for them to play with the other children in the field.
The toilets etc were beautifully kept and the shop was excellent. Thank you for a very enjoyable stay.

We stayed at this site with our 2 grown up children and dog. The staff are extremely helpful and friendly, nothing is too much trouble and they are well versed on the area. The pitches are huge - we arrived with an extra small car, which we were expecting to leave in the car park, but there was ample room for 2 cars, caravan, full awning and pod, plus a large area for sitting.
The site is immaculate with mature hedging and shrubs. Everything is spotless, from the pitches, roads and pathways, to the superb toilet, shower blocks. Noise is at a minimum as there is just so much space available. There are 2 really good children's play areas here and lots of good open green spaces for games. There has been a lot of thought put into the different areas of the park such as the conservation area.
There is adequate dog walking facilities (all on lead) on this site, with a lovely forest walk which is well marked just over the road. The shop in reception is very well stocked with all the necessary items, plus a nice few extra items, the staff will also arrange for daily papers
Lymme Regis (beautiful) is the nearest town (about 2.5 miles) which has good resturants, shops and a lovely beach. Charmouth has a fabulous market on a Monday. The pub up the road (about a mile) is great with an excellent menu. The whole area around here is well worth visiting.
The only slight gripe I would add is that the nearset pub as mentioned is a mile away but is along the A35 which has no pathway for a large portion therefore walking can be tricky. I believe this is also the nearest bus stop.
This site is one of the nicest Camping and Caravanning sites we have visited (and we have stayed on quite a lot!) and we will definitely return.

We stayed here last week, when some of the schools had broken up ( Welsh & Scottish) but not all the English schools, we booked via camping and caravan club as this is a club site, though they only charge non member premium during school holidays, and looking at their website you would not think it was affiliated!
We arrived on a Saturday and there was a lot of weekender's there so we didn't get a choice of pitch, so we were placed on one of the back fields which was lovely.
The pitches there were well above the 6m distance gap and an area to play on in front, the whole site is nicely laid out most pitches in groups of 10 with hedging etc, the toilets took about 2 mins to get to and initially I thought that there wasn't enough based on size of site but there was never any queues, they were also immaculate what ever time of day I went there, they had family shower rooms, but this had a shower cubicle in with a door so I found it easier to shower my boys in the main shower block.
Two nice play areas and plenty of room on them to play ball games as well.
We love the local area, Fossils are easy to spot on Charmouth beach, Lyme Regis is great had a nice fish and chip take away while sat in the harbour, Beer is a nice place to walk to from Seaton (2 miles across coast path and beech cafe when you get there)
Weymouth is great for the kids sea does not really go in or out so its always there and accessible and very calm. (very expensive to park in Weymouth). Went to Monkey World which was nice, and the Donkey Sanctuary which was lovely to walk around, nice cafe and a maze to keep the children entertained.

Found the site to be very well cared for with friendly helpful staff. We requested a pitch near the playarea and the one we had was great really good safe access for the children and plenty of room for them.
We found the facilities to be very clean the family room was good for the little ones and lots of hot water. The only problem we found was the amount of showers and toilets on our side, we went in June and the site was not full but had to time everything right as 2 showers and toilets for each was a little on the low side plus only 1 washing machine and drier. August could be fun.
Lyme Regis was very lovely.
Monkey World great, Pecorama also good, Farmer Parmers good for the younger ones. Loved the Fleet Air Arm museum. We found a pub called the Old Inn at Kilmington it was top class. The food and service were really fantastic. Puts the George Inn at Charmouth to shame, they do not take cards but luckily have a cashpoint in the pub that costs £1.99 to get your money out, food not good either.
Handy Tescos at Axminster and the River Cottage Canteen in Axminster is well worth a visit as was Lyme Bay winery and the village of Beer. We would definitely use this site again but off peak. Nice easy access from the A35.

Stayed in this lovely campsite over Bank Holiday weekend - a very mixed bag of weather, with high winds, sunshine and lots of rain. The site was full to capacity but didn't seem crowded and there were no queues for showers or washing up sinks that I saw. Shower blocks were lovely, well looked after with lots of hot water and a very handy family room.
Lots of positives - the site is very well maintained and green, with large pleasant pitches. Reception friendly and seemed to be a well stocked shop (didn't use it). A fish and chip van visits two evenings a week.
Play area for the children was a nice extra and everyone was very friendly.
Our only whinge though was that we were told when we booked that we would be in the 'camping field' and that this was 200 yards from the toilet/shower block. We hadn't appreciated this meant the overflow field at the top of the campsite. This is a large, mainly sunny site and they keep numbers low so there was loads of space especially for groups. *BUT* there are no facilities, and if you are anywhere except right by the gate, then the distance to the toilets is a lot more than 200 yards. We had six children under the age of six and most of them were having accidents during the long walk down to the toilets. I actually timed it and it took me almost 4 minutes on my own walking at a brisk pace - imagine that after dark with a three year old (walking at a much slower speed) and you can picture the problems we had. I did ask Reception who said they were considering putting portaloos up there, that would be a huge improvement. The field itself is very stony (we dug up several huge flints from our pitch) and we only spotted one tap (i assume there were others but not many!). It also has the A35 running down one edge which can be noisy.
We were quite surprised that we paid the standard tent pitch rate to stay in the overflow field, considering the facilities on the main pitches were so lovely. We got minimal use of the playground etc because of the schlep to get down there. I guess that is the price you pay for booking late.
Overall a lovely and friendly site but do ask questions if you are in a tent as I feel the overflow pitches leave a lot to be desired.
Would mark this site 9/10 for most things overall but my ratings are based on our experience in the overflow field.

Spent five days with the kids here. Excellent welcome - shown to our pitch which was a bit sloping but spacious and just the right distance from neighbours. Great playground for the kids, fish & chip shop visits site on Sun and Wed and you can even order the papers. At peak times there are inevitably queues for showers. Great location and good facilities for a weeks break.
Needs a booking timetable for washing machine or an additional machine as there were long queues for washing. Staff work very hard to please customers.

I have never written a review before but on this occasion I felt I needed to, so please excuse the spelling mistakes. We booked this park on a last minute break and had the last pitch. Pod tent very big with electric, 2 adults and a dog !Devon had had more rain in the past week than I think they had seen all year. We arrived and were greeted so warmly by the people on site. Our pitch was a great size, we were right next to the children's play area and moaned to each other but we neednt the kids were great and by 9 everything was quiet. The showers and toilet block was so clean you could have eaten your cooked breakfast off the floors- not that we would. Plenty of hot water and never over-crowded. Fellow campers/caravaners were lovely.
I cannot recommend this site enough, clean, safe, spacious, friendly, reasonably priced, what more can I say. We have camped all over England and this was a fantastic site. Tried to book again but full, can see why

We stayed over the last weekend in April, arrived Sat 7pm on spec, no problem putting us up. We were pitched on the overflow area directly in front of the shop, but no problems with noise etc even though we were yards from the drive. Site was busy with campers & caravanners.
The toilet & shower block was the cleanest I've been to on a campsite. The showers are a decent size, no squeezing yourself in and having to stand in the shower to close the door. Plenty of room to store your clothes while you shower without them getting wet.
The site is well placed for Lyme Regis & Charmouth, but not really within walking distance of a pub, the nearest is about 20min away. Not a problem if you bring your own, and the shop sells tins etc anyway. The highlight of the weekend was Sunday evening when the local fish & chip van visits-you place your order then come back in 20min and it's all ready.
On the Monday morning we had bacon, eggs & scallops pan-fried with beans-scallops were caught in Lyme Bay by one of my nieces!
A good site, slightly expensive at £18 per night, but well worth it, the facilities are excellent. We will go back.
