Just back from 2 weeks at this site and you couldn't ask for anything better! Lovely big pitches, plenty of space, friendly people! Even though there were only two showers I had to queue twice for only a couple of mins,it wasn't a problem! The dog exercise area was great apart from the irresponsible owners who didn't pick up after their dogs. All in all we will go back to Monkton as this was the best holiday by far!

I have just returned after a 2 week stay and I was very impressed by this quiet friendly site.
With the site being just off the A35 you would think you would hear traffic noise but you cant, maybe the odd moo or baa (as you are oppisite a farm down a quiet lane). We received a friendly welcome from the wardens. The pitches are very spacious and level. My 4 children aged from 5-14 all enjoyed the play park especially the trampolines. Our dog enjoyed the exercise paddock which is a short walk off the site and across the road. The washing up area is outdoor but sheltered. The staff keep the site clean and tidy and are friendly and willing to help.
Unfortunatley the only gripe I can find about this site is, there is only ONE toilet/shower block for the whole site. Now I know this is'nt a huge site but during a busy peak season the ladies only have 5 loos, 2(yes 2) showers and 5 hand basins. And when you are bustin to go first thing in the morning it can be a bit daunting to see the queue comming out the door. The men however have it even worse with only 2 cubicles and two showers. Legs crossed !
However we loved this site and the only improvement would be to have more loos and showers. We shall be returning again.

Site is well located with all the nearby attractions being a short car ride away. Although the site is fairly close to the main road it did not suffer from any traffic noise. All the facilities are very well maintained and the site has a nice cosy feeling to it. The only small drawbacks are the one toilet / shower block - which depending on where your pitch is, can be a little walk in the middle of the night and the shop being on the site next door. There is however a supermarket approx 2 miles away for a full shop.
All in all, excellent - I am sure we will be staying again in the very near future.

We have just returned from a weeks visit to this camp site - staying in their Mongolian Yurt! The Yurt was fantastic with most equipment that you could need including a full size fridge, tv (for when raining!) small electric oven with 2 hobs etc etc. The best bit was the small log fire which we used every night.
The site itself was clean and tidy with what looked like spacious pitches - the only real downside we found was the toilet facilities there were only 2 showers each in the male and female areas and the whole thing just felt a bit tight for space.
My daughter (11) enjoyed the trampolines but these were very busy at times and the '3 children only' rule seemed to be ignored.
The campsite is in a lovely area either for Dorset or for Devon, We have some good days out - we went to Becky Falls in Bovey Tracey and stopped at the marble museum aswell. We went shopping in Exeter and enjoyed their museum and their are plenty of places to enjoy a cream tea!

August 2005 We stayed at this site earlier this month. We booked by email and telephone and the girl on the telephone was charming. She was equally charming and helpful when we arrived. This campsite is exceptionally clean and pleasant. It is quiet and each pitch is of a generous size. Highly recommended.

July 2005 Monkton Wyld is a really nice laid out site. Some of the tent pitches are level but we were on a little bit of a slope not very good when it rains.! A really good play park with two slow bounce trampolines and a wooden climbing frame with slide. Staff helpful if you had a problem. The only problem we had, was it only had 1 toilet block which was a short walk away if you were in the top field as we were. In the ladies toilets it had 4 loos, 2 showers and 3 handwash basins, not very good at weekends, very busy. When it closed for cleaning there was only 1 toilet for the whole campsite to use. Not Good when you are desperated for the loo. Another moan, was you had to be in by 11.00pm as they would lock the gate and did not open them until 7.00am the next morning. We went during the Life boat week and some nights they had things going on from 10pm so you had to keep checking your watch to make sure you were back on site. Not what I call being on holiday.! There was no shop on site the nearest supermarket was in Axminster about 3 miles away. Not sure if we would return again to this site.

August 2004 We visited this site in August 2004 for the first time. We think this is the best site in the area, we have checked out most of the other sites and we think this one beats them all. The site is always kept in top condition and the staff are always very helpful and friendly. We have 4 children and they all love the play area, the ages are 16,12,5,and 3, the oldest ones love the volley ball net because they are very active kids. There is a shop at the site next door if needed, take a walk through the jitty near the shower block and follow it through to the next site to find the shop.We dont spend much time on site as we like to make the most of our time but it has great facilitys.

August 2004 This site is reasonably priced with good facilities which the staff worked really hard to keep clean in the rain and mud . My children 10,7,5 had a great time on the large trampolines - they loved it despite the rain . There are beaches very close and easy shopping in Axminster which also has a swimming pool for really wet days and a chip shop .

July 2003 Just returned having 2 weeks with 10 days rain but we cannot blame site for that, not allowed on pitch till 11am also off by 11am warden keen on this. Very clean and tidy site, washing and laundry plus family bathroom. Our pitch no. 7 was very large hard standing. Playarea not suitable for kids over the age of 11, no ball games allowed other than in the play area. Owners very friendly, but wardens bit frosty, no shop on site - need car to do anything, Would visit again but without kids ours 12 and 15 were bored when on site.
