Stayed here for 5 nights during the school break. We all had a fantastic time.
Very nice, quiet site. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Our kids (6, 3, & 6 months) all loved the playground - it is not clear from the photos on the website but there is a big bridge and slide, and smaller bridge & slide, plus two sets of swings and rope swing which the kids didn't leave alone. All set in sand as well which the kids played around in.
Showers and toilets are warm and clean, but were a little dated compared to some we have seen, but no complaints - other than push button showers!
Our pitch did have quite a slope but we got used to it, and there were nice views over a field full of cows with the sea just visible in the distance.
We went down to Pentewan to use their indoor pool on the first day as it was a bit wet. Nice pool but Pentewan sands itself had the pitches rammed in and it was very busy. Very nice deck outside the bar area though for a coffee/beer.
Some very nice beaches nearby. Carhayes was fantastic.
Will definitely be going back!

Had a fabulous time at Heligan Woods. Very easy to find and only about 6 miles from St Austel where there are plenty of the big stores if needed i. E. Asda and Tesco etc for supplies.
The staff at Heligan are very friendly and knowledgeable as you would expect and being able to pick you own pitch when booking was excellent and reduced the stress of our travelling down - no wondering about are we going to get the worst pitch because of the distance we live away from the site etc. There are no bad pitches and where the description of a pitch says 'sloping' on the booking site - it's really not that bad - hardly noticeable. We stopped at pitch 38 which was under a big tree, so when it rained we got the drips coming off the tree for a few hours more than the rain, but were really not that bothered. Electricity being free was a godsend as this was our first time using electrics.
The pitch was one down from the shower; toilet and washing facilities, but we weren't bothered by any excessive noise from there and the site has a no noise policy from 10pm but this wasn't really explained to some of the residents and I had to ask our neighbours to keep the noise down.
That said the facilities at Heligan were spotless - easily the best we have seen to date and the addition of a bathroom and laundry room was idyllic for us as a family unit with two under 10 year olds. The playground is basic with a slide, rope swing, bridge and swings but is enough to keep the kiddies happy for an hour or so.
The shop in reception is well stocked with the usual camping needs food wise and has plenty of flyers for things to do while visiting. Brilliant place and a site we shall certainly be going back to.

Heligan is a great site, spotless at all times with both the main wardens and deputy wardens outstandingly friendly, The fishing village of Mevagissey is a must see.
The tiny village of Gorran haven is also a short bus ride away, St austell is also easily accessable by bus. The gardens are also worth a visit as is Lobbs farm shop adjacent to this great site, will be returning soon.
This is a great base if once you have parked up and don't wish to drive whilst on your break, transport times and links are very good in deed. Pentewan sands is a gentle walk down and as you are staying at Heligan you can use all the facilities on this sister site. Excellent.

What a lovely site we didn't get all the benefits as it was late in the season but never the less we were made very welcome. With Heligan Gardens just next door, what a lovely day out. We have a small dog so the footpath to Mevagissey was a bonus, no traffic to contend with. A bus service to St Austell from the gardens was also very useful. Best bit you can even have a bath (great) if you do not like showers. Will definitely be staying here again.

Loved this site. Not far from the Eden project which was well worth a visit also Lost garden of Heligan are right next door. We were a bit disappointed with the lost valley bit.
After walking all the way down it still looked lost! I guess it was to far down for the gardener to get to! The jungle part was great fun and all the top gardens were worth a look round. Paul young just happened to be doing a book signing so my daughter and I had our photo taken with him. All very exciting.
We went with the family. They hired one of the two statics that allowed dogs. The static was a bit tired, but assumed this was because of some of the previous guests dogs getting on the furniture etc.
The people before had used the gravel and bit of grass next door as a dog loo so found ourselves cleaning up after them. The deck area was unkempt but a broom and a wet wipe sorted that out.
The other statics looked in better condition though.
There are plenty of walks from the site great for the dogs and a bus stop which takes dogs at the drivers discretion out side the Gardens gate.
The showers and toilets were very clean and all the staff were very friendly.
It has a shop that stocks the basics which was good because I forgot to bring tin tomatoes.
There is a playground which my daughter used regular and plenty of space to run around.
The pitches were large and flat, but I wished I had picked a hard standing because where a tent had killed the grass of before it got a bit mucky to walk on after a night of rain.
Would definitely visit this site again and would recommend it.
I am rating this site on my Motorhome experience only.

Our second visit to this site in 2 years as we love this area so much. We did however notice that the site has changed considerably in its dynamics with more people seemingly being long stay and working in the area and also a huge number of tents.
Caravans were actually in the minority which as it had been so wet the ground was in pretty poor shape on some pitches. The play area for the children was well kept and very well attended.
Although you can take your dog on site there isn't an area to walk them and I felt very conscious walking my dog round the site.
Also Heligan Gardens do not allow dogs from April - October which kind of defeats the object of staying there in the summer.
The showers and toilets still very well kept but now looking their age and could do with some updating.
The area itself is a joy to visit and would happily recommend a spot of crab fishing and fish & chips round the harbour at Mevagissey or a trip to Gorran Haven beach for a fun day out.

My first visit to Cornwall, and whats more two weeks in a tent! Thank goodness it was no cheap tent. A Vango Infinity 600, On arrival we were greeted by the camp wardens, where we were shown as to where our pitch was, the site was spotless, well maintained gardens and roads, spotless toilets and showers. Also if you are a bird spotter this is the place to be. On a night the campsite is well lit and have a policy of no noise after 10pm.
Next morning at 4am we were woken by the sound of the dawn chorus (told you about the birds!) at about 6. 30 the noise stops so more sleep can be had. (Strange on the 3rd night we did not notice any noise from the birds, must have got used to it) The only problem we had, was that we were told we had pitched on the wrong pitch and had to move 1 down (despite the warden watching as to where we pitched in the first place. This also happened to a motorhome too. So I suggest that you check before you set up your tent/motorhome)
Next door to the campsite is the Lost Gardens of Heligan, there is a gate that will take you into this attraction. Also note there is an excellent cafe that serves excellent meals and you don't have to pay the entrance fees to get in. Also it has an excellent shop, the prices are higher than the town but the food is so fresh.
The only problem we had was the constant. Rain. Thank godness the tent kept us dry and warm.
Would we visit this site again. Deffo YES, well worth the visit for a quiet stay and superb views. Excellent

We chose this site for its proximity to The Lost Gardens. Neither disappointed. The site is clean, well-laid out, with very good facilities and good value for money, only £11. 95 inc. Hook-up (except for the dogs quite pricey at £2. 75 each. ). We liked the good facilities and environmentally friendly aspect and it was good to be so close to the Lost Gardens - a shame we had to drive the 300 or so metres to visit the (wonderful) gardens as the dogs couldn't be left unattended in the van on site; understandable but slightly irritating.
Had a lovely walk down into Mevagissey - easy on the downhill stretch, more of an effort coming back up! (Very steep). A great location for visiting the gardens - which were beyond my wildest dreams - and also Mevagissey, a beautiful little seaside fishing village with lots of restaurants, galleries etc.

A lovely site, even better in the late autumn than the summer if your children are grown up like ours.
Spacious pitches, lovely view a good atmosphere and close to some beautiful scenery.
Toilets and showers a little dated but ok.
Next to Heligan woods and a great Farm Shop Try the Ship Inn at Pentewan in the evenings for good pub grub and local musicians.
Much friendlier than their sister site Pentewan Sands although without the beach.
Take a walk down through Heligan Mill.
Mevagissey is also nicer without the huge crowds of summer.

We have been to this site 2 years running and would definitely recommend. Its a sister site to Pentewan Sands which has a swimming pool, shop, restaurant and bar also free parking to use the beach. However, Pentewan Sands is busier and we prefer Heligan Holiday Park & just use the facilities at Pentewan.
It's up on the hillside looking down at the beach with a small shop and washing up, good shower block & toilets. Children love it as there is a good playground area where they spent the whole time with other children and you can see them because the site is small.
