I would highly recommend this site. The wardens were very friendly & helpful. There are plenty of places to visit in this area. Good cycle/walk path down to Mevagissey, although quite steep to return to site.
Good showers spotlessly clean & warm. Site kept very tidy & grass short. Playground well maintained & visible from some pitches to keep an eye on children.
Two minutes walk from Helligan gardens, where there is a bus stop. The gardens are well worth a visit. Buses go to Mevagissey, St Austell or Gorran Haven. Views accross to the sea. Very reasonable price.

Second visit to this beautiful site.
Just returned after three very enjoyable days/nights at what is probably my favourite campsite.
As mentioned in previous review(s) facilities good, park well maintained and wardens extremely pleasant and helpful.
Enjoyed walking to Mevagissey, St. Austell and Pentewan. Even walked the coastal path from Pentewan to Mevagissey - Gasped all the way as very hilly.
Right next to Heligan Gardens where bus stop is situated and where you can go to Mevagiisey, Gorran Haven and St. Austell.
In summary an excellent site & excellent value for money. Can't wait to return!

Tidy and well kept, spacious and clean quite large site. Has good pitches with hard-standing etc. Has nice children's play area with wood climbing frames etc. Friendly and helpful staff, you need to book at busy times. Reasonably expensive we thought given lack of extra facilities - i. E. Its not on the beach and no pool/clubhouse, kids clubs, sea views or nice pub/village nearby etc. If you're wanting those things. So you are paying for cleanliness, space and driving proximity to mid Cornwall attractions. It is right next door to The Lost Gardens of Heligan however (just walk around the corner) and quite near to The Eden Project, so this probably reflects the cost. Farm shop next to entrance at Heligan has good local produce and meat for BBQ. Lots to do in area (but you have to drive to everything other than Heligan), with mentioned attractions. Also reasonably near to the coast, so drive to beaches and nearby seaside towns - Mevagissy, Gorran Haven, Fowey and Polruan and Trebah Garden or other attractions. I would say this is perfect for those with big units or larger tents that want a clean, quality site (but no pool/clubhouse etc. ) as a base from which they can drive to attractions in mid Cornwall within 1/2 hour or more. Just to note - there is a large Caravan and camping shop nearby, on the road down to Mevagissy, where you can pick up camping supplies, and which has a workshop too if you need repairs. Personally we prefer smaller more characterful sights or those on coast with a sea view, or with or near to useful facilities (pool/pub/village) and so better value, hence 7 stars only. But a good clean site if it suits your needs.

We stayed here while touring Cornwall, good site, great view from our pitch before the fog rolled in! Toilet facilities good if a little dated but perfectly OK
Mevagissy is within walking distance if you're keen - we drove!
Dog friendly - good walk along track to Mevagissy to exercise them
Right next door to Heligan Gardens which is why we picked the site, literally through a gate. Dogs allowed in the gardens from October onwards.
Very well kept park, friendly wardens.
We would stay again

Just spent a very pleasant night at Heligan.
What a lovely site with excellent facilities.
Pitches large and with spacious layout.
Toilet/showers all clean and well maintained.
Beautifully maintained grounds that lie adjacent to the Lost Gardens of Heligan.
Warden/reception extremely pleasant and helpful.
Lovely walk into Mevagissey down old cart track which takes between 45 - 60 minutes and is all downhill going but alas all uphill coming back therefore walk there and get bus back.
Will use again in the future.

Just returned from a third visit, absolutely love this site.
Friendly warden and staff, toilets/showers kept very clean with plenty of mops/cloths to clean behind yourself-which most respectable campers do. A basic shop but still serving fresh bread/rolls/croissants and wine. Lobbs farm shop next door a must for your fresh meat etc. But a bit pricey for local produce
Beautiful attended grounds, children's play park looked well equipped. Some pitches had fab views of the sea some of the pitch sizes are the largest we have ever seen.
A must for the hard working families who need time out peace and tranquillity. Plenty of respectful dog owners who enjoy the lovely if not far walk to Mevagissey.
We no longer search for any where else in Cornwall as we feel this fab site has it all.
Pentwennan Sands(sister site)lovely to visit for a late afternoon pint with lovely views of the beach. We felt it more suited families who want an active/beach holiday. On site shop very expensive and the take away. Indoor pool extremely busy peak season, out of season a must.
Only downfall a bit pricey to stay but with The lost Gardens Of Heligan next door we feel its worth it.

This is our second visit to the site this year - in May we came in a tent and on this occasion we have come in a caravan. The site is in an absolutely fantastic location with far reaching views to the sea, however, we are a little disappointed this time.
Apart from one other trailer tent on the site we are the only occupants. Whilst accepting the rule that dogs should be tethered at all times, in May us, together with two other visitors were able to allow our animals to have a little more freedom due to how quiet the site was - hence the reason for the return trip.
However this time there appears to be a no common sense approach and rules are definitely rules. This somewhat put a damper on the week as we returned to the site based on our previous experience.
The toilets and showers are still very well looked after albeit not all were in use due to the low occupancy rate, and once again the shop was closed.

We used this site for the first time this year. We wanted to stay at the site on the beach but they don't take dogs
There is a good walk to Mevagisey down an attractive track way. We were told that it was a 40 minute amble. My wife and I walk at 3.5 miles per hour and it took us a full hour (downhill) and a full hour (back)
The Showers/WCs/dish wash facilities were first rate and amongst the best that we have seen. We did not use the washing machines so cannot comment.
The site is in a most attractive setting but is isolated. I should imagine that the Tenters and Caravanners will have a slightly better time of it as the roads are not a lot of fun with a 23ft Motorhome.
There is a good local bus service into Mevagisey and to St Austell

Just returned from this site. Our pitch was very large indeed and close to the playground, which was handy as we had 3 small children. It also had fantastic views down to the sea. However, this particular pitch sloped quite severely which really compromised our enjoyment. In fairness, I think it was probably the worst slope on the site and the other pitches seemed better - although you have a somewhat limited choice of pitch if you want non-EHU.
Facilities were fine and very clean - showers, toilets, pot wash (including a clothes handwash sink), launderette all in one location. There was also a family bathroom which was great - it contained a full bath and a little half size bath, perfect for getting the mud off my little toddler. I was disappointed with the laundry room though, as I felt £4 was expensive for a washing load. So I didn't use it.
The shop was fine, and the farm shop next door was absolutely fantastic (although pricy, as these places often are!). Wasn't very happy about having to pay 30p for freezing an ice-pack. I'm used to having a freezer provided free of charge for this purpose. The kids loved the playground.
All in all, was quite happy with the site but found it quite expensive (although I admit this was peak time) compared to other sites - we didn't use the facilities at Pentewan so didn't benefit from having that access included in the price, although that's our fault for being lazy!

We have just returned from a week at Heligan Park and were very impressed with the site. Our pitch opposite the toilets gave us a limited seaview as well as being able to enjoy the gardens around us. The toilet block and showers were well kept and will need updating soon.
The site fees also give you access to the sister site at Pentewan Sands which our kids used only once but they did enjoy the swimming pool. I did think the site fees were a little steep when Heligan itself is a very sleepy little site. We did have electric hook up and plenty of room for car, caravan & awning on our pitch.
The farm shop is amazing and stocks mouthwatering food, the butcher was a lovely man who cut us some lovely fresh steak off the bone for our barbecue. The site shop also had the added bonus of hot bread, croissants & pain au chocolate in the mornings. We will definitely be back next year !
We love Mevagissey and this site is more than handy for popping back forwards for daily visits.
