Just had another great weekend so far this year visited the site 5 times. Toilet block spotless. Very nice couple ran the site always pleasant. Great dog walk, quiet, peaceful never felt the need to use knitting needles. Lovly walk from the site along the old Railway track into Callender lots of shops and great food. People who have visited the site keep going back so now you have to book in advance would not just turn up.

We have visited the site twice, once 4 years ago, when we found the site quite run down. Decided to give it a second chance and returned last weekend.
What a change! Its now under new management, who were friendly and helpful. They have really transformed the site. The toilet block has had a facelift - very clean! Lovely views of the hills; the field of sheep and lambs was a lovely added feature. You can easily walk into Callander.
Grass was a wee bit soggy, but nothing to worry about.
Will definitely be back!

Very nice site. Beautiful surroundings, very peaceful and quiet. If you need entertainment and lots to do, this is not the site for you. If you want relaxation and tranquillity, this is it! The Manager and his wife were extremely helpful and friendly and the site was immaculate. The toilet block was a little bit dated but, again, very clean and lots of lovely hot water. The only thing this little site does need is a little shop. If you need to do some shopping, Callander is about 2 miles away - not far if you have a car but not worth moving a motorhome for. That saying, the walk along a very good woodland path is lovely and gives you lots to look at. Will definitely come back here again.

Another great break here. Friendly wardens found us hardstanding pitches for our stay on a rather wet couple of days.
The site was always clean and tidy. Showers and toilets were good, spotless, plenty of hot water and important to me, room to get dressed.
Meal in town was fine. Fuel and small Tesco in town came in handy.
Work in progress for motorhome service point and plans for another toilet block will make this site even better.

Excellent site.
Location lovely, site very well kept, pitches level & a good size if not the biggest we've had,
Toilets & showers very good,
Site wardens first class, helpful & friendly,
Dog walks just off site, plenty of places to go / visit in area.
Locally, site maybe a fraction too far outside of callander to be tempting to walk to in the evening, we didn't find a real warm welcoming real ale pub anywhere,
Rob Roy centre is now closed at Callander which is a shame.

We booked a 3 night stay at the campsite for our large tent with EHU. We understand we have a large tent and sometimes we have to pay large prices. We were charged £22 per night which is the most we have ever paid but this wouldn't put us off coming back in the near future as we enjoyed our stay here.
On arrival the site warden directed us to the pitch. We definitely landed on our feet as it was an extremely level and spacious grass pitch - enough room for our large tent, car and the pitch also came with a large picnic bench for our use.
The site itself has only one shower/toilet block and it was a fair distance from the tent pitches. I'm glad we had our portapotty with us!
In the mornings we had a bit of a wait for a vacant shower as these are communal - but that's no real problem as we spent the time chatting to fellow campers. The showers themselves were spacious with a good supply of free hot water. We believe there are plans to build a second toilet/shower block on the site so this slight inconvenience may be solved soon.
Onsite there are no real facilities for children - maybe a children's playpark would be a good idea. There is an enclosure in the centre of the site which housed some ewes and their new lambs which was lovely to wake up to in the morning. We were disappointed to find no recycling facilities on this site which is very unusual nowadays.
The wardens were very helpful in showing us where the local walks were from the campsite including the walk into Callander. Callander is about 1 1/2 mile walk down a lovely wooded pathway and there are a multitude of shops and tea rooms to visit including a fabulous fudge shop! If you don't have the energy for the return walk a taxi is available at a cost of around £2.
All in all this is a lovely site area and there is so much to do round about. We would definitely return for a future stay but take a smaller tent to keep the cost down.

Immaculate site with friendly hosts. The shower block is kept spotlessly clean and the power showers are great with unlimited hot water.
There are only two toilets for the men, and (from memory) I believe five unisex showers for the whole site.
In March despite unseasonably great weather the facilities were perfectly sufficient and there were always showers free regardless of the time of day, but things may change at a busier time.
Previous reviews have commented that prices were cheap. However that was not my experience - I stayed on my own for a five night break and was charged £13 per night, being £9 for my 'two man' tent plus £4 for the car.

I am not recommending this site to anyone else, as it is now so busy you have to book to get a pitch, which you never had to do before.
Although a small site it is ideal for touring the surrounding area.
The site itself has an immaculately clean toilet block, with outside dish washing area, there is also a small laundry room. No play equipment for kids but they all seem quite content playing together.
Great improvements have been made to this site recently, with hard standing and seasonal pitches.
Also one of the few sites that accept tents. Rates are very reasonable, we were £30 for 2 nights. Would recommend this site.

Came to this site for a weekend in our Motorhome - weather was a bit iffy but otherwise a nice weekend - and would definitely come back!
Toilet block and showers were spotless and loads of hot water. Liked the showers for the bit to sit down when getting ready which most sites don't have!
The owners could not have been nicer and even took you to your pitch - which is really helpful and doesn't happen often in sites.
Big plus also was very reasonable for the facilities and level pitches.
Highly recommended!
