Nice site in the village of Porlock. We a good hard standing, level pitch.
The toilet block was very clean and the showers were solar powered.
There's a nice herb garden where you can help yourself to the herbs.
There's no shop on site but your in the village anyway and it's only a short walk to all the shops and pubs. The pubs all did food and were very welcoming. There's a sort dog walk at the bottom of the site which is fenced off.
There are sign's saying no access to the beach from the site so we asked someone how to get there, they told us, it was via a muddy track about a mile and a half walk, then across some mud flats. What they didn't tell us was that its not a beach at all just a vast expanse of boulders and large pebbles. So be warned if you venture there put your willies on.
We have had our motorhome since August and this is the first site in the uk that has a motorhome service area like they have abroad.

What a great site! Very close to the town with selection of pubs and shops, we recommend the Royal Oak for food. The people were very friendly and laid back and always greeted us with a smile. The toilet facilities are the cleanest we have seen on a site and were polished to perfection, well done cleaning staff! We stayed earlier in the year in the touring field and even the port-a-loos were immaculate. We look forward to coming back next year

Felt I had to write as we have just booked again for this site, and read the observations made by a fellow camper at the same time of year we last stayed. We too are seasoned campers and this is one of the best family sites we have ever stayed at. Amenities are spotlessly clean, site is quiet and relaxed and they try very hard to make sure everyone has the same degree of privacy. Yes there are rules - but the majority of them are just reminders to do the common sense things we all do at home - eg. Please wipe around the sink after use! which add to the overall comfort and cleanliness and benefit everyone.
As well as spotless showers and washing areas, there are washing machines and drying facilities, fab washing up sinks, Microwave, fridge and freezer facilities, running drinking water points and loads of space - we played outside the tent for hours - ball games, races general family fun, and my impression is so long as you are not interfering with anyone else having their own quieter time there will be no issue. Lets be fair, not everyone on a camping or caravan holiday wants to be 'amused' by other peoples children well into the evening -
As I said off again next summer, as it is so close to so many beautiful places to visit, the cafes and pubs in the village are all family friendly ( the ship has a good play area at the back right at the top) and the shops provide you with everything you could need. Yes there are sites with more facilities, but it genuinely doesn't need anything more than it has - and do go crabbing at Porlock Weir, best way of passing a couple of hours any day!

Stayed here over the Bank Holiday weekend.
Its a nice site with clean facilities.
However please read their terms and conditions as there are lots of rules!
Gazebos are not allowed! Shame considering it was raining and we wanted to have a barbecue.
And the showers were a cold, I guess that's because they are solar powered!
Apart from that, a nice place to stay close to the village.
If you want a gazebo or to play ball games then go to Sparkhayes or Burrowhayes instead.

This is a very nice little site, with good clean facilities. We stayed on the August bank holiday weekend, and whilst we’d left it too late to get an electric hook up pitch, they have a large rally field with ample room. We stayed in the field for 2 nights and moved to an EHU pitch on the third night. Where we were pitched in the field we had lovely view across to Porlock Weir and across the Bristol Channel to Wales.
There were portable loos set out, three on each side of the field, these were kept very clean and topped up with loo roll twice a day. On the main site there is dishwashing facilities which are kept very clean and a microwave and fridge freezer for campers to use. The showers were adjustable and nice and hot, with a dry changing area in the shower cubicle. This was a very comfortable place to stay.
There is a short cut from the site into Porlock village centre where there is a good selection of shops, pubs and places to eat and a bus stop for the 300 open top bus which runs between Minehead and Ilfracombe.
On our third night we moved our camper to the EHU pitch, interestingly this part of the site had a completely different feel - much more closed in and noisy with no sea view. We were just getting set up when the camp warden asked us to turn our van around as our side door was facing the “wrong way”, evidently all the caravans and RVs were required to have their doors facing in the same direction. We had initially parked our van over the muddy area to protect it from further damage and so that we could step out onto grass. Turning our van around on the small pitch meant having to park on the grass and step out onto mud where previous awnings had completely killed the grass, in fact, if we had put our chairs on the mud not only would we have got everything very muddy but we would have damaged the ground even more. We did as we were bid without complaint, presumably this is to stop doors facing each other, however the position of our original pitch, meant our side door had not been facing another caravan as small tents were in the next 2 pitches, so I tend to think this was a needless enforcement of rules. This didn’t ruin our enjoyment of our stay but had we been on that pitch for longer than one night the mud would’ve been too much. Having had a moan about this though, we’d definitely stay here again.

Having visited many sites over the years I had a very unpleasant experience visiting this site.
The pitches are overpriced with hidden extras when you arrive. The facilities are good but in poor condition and looking like the whole place needs a makeover. Showers are cold as is the reception you may receive.
Lot and lots of rules which are mainly pinned up on laminates around the site, (very unsightly). I guess the site is mainly orientated to the static homes as the rules are anti camper, anti dog, anti children and anti fun.
Really do not recommend going here to anyone who is camping. We only went because we were late booking and this was the only place with availability. I can see why.

Immaculate campsite with generous pitches and lovely views of surrounding hills. Well established shrubs and pretty flower beds. The toilets and showers were spotlessly clean. Friendly wardens showed us how and where to pitch. Warm welcome and helpful advice in reception.
A few minutes walk into pretty village with a few hotels and pubs all serving food. Miller's Bistro was excellent. Good antique shops. A pleasant 40 minute walk to Porlock Weir with a lovely pub, hotel and cafe etc.
Bus service to Lynton and Lynmouth and Minehead. Would thoroughly recommend this campsite.

We have just spent 4 nights in this friendly, spotless and attractive site just 3 minutes walk from Porlock centre. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The showers & loos are very clean, & there are also 2 washing cubicles. The water is good and hot, & showers are spacious.
The pitches all have close access to electricity, water, light and waste disposal & recycling. There is a well-kept, indoor washing up room with microwave.
The gardens and flowerbeds were beautiful while we were there.
Proximity to Porlock is a big advantage, as there is a small supermarket [open long hours], outdoor shops, gift shops, Post Office and 2 pubs. We ate in 'The Ship' where the meals were very good.
The bus stops outside the visitor centre [3 mins walk] with service to access points to the SW coast path.

We went to stay for 4 nights at the end of March and ended up staying for 8 nights as we enjoyed the site so much.
It is only a few minutes walk into the town of Porlock and everything you require is there. There is also good bus links to the east and west.
The site is immaculate and as it was our first time camping it has completely spoilt us. The owners and the site wardens are very welcoming and are complete workaholics, keeping everything in tip top condition.
The toilet and shower block are top notch too. Always plenty of hot water for washing your pots and pans.
Our Dog (Archie) was made to feel so welcome he was always heading off to meet Sue in reception.
Cannot wait to go back.

Very well kept site in superb location.
We did feel somewhat intimidated when we were directed and watched over whilst we parked exactly where the warden wanted us to be. Very quiet as it was the last weekend of the season but we were told we could not change pitch because they were fully booked - maybe there were a lot of 'no shows'. The many rules and regulations were not relaxed even though the site was so quiet - my 88 year old mother was holidaying in the area with a friend and they wished to visit us for a cup of tea. My mother is unable to walk well but they were refused access through the barrier even though I explained they were only having a cup of tea and then would be on their way. They had to park in the car park over the road and my mother had to walk to our motor home.
We did not use the toilets and showers as we have all facilities on board our motor home but understand they are immaculate.
Porlock had plenty of pubs and restaurants and Porlock Weir only 1. 5 miles away. Bus runs from Minehead to Lynmouth.
