As others have said this campsite is immaculate in every way that you could eat your breakfast on the toilet floor. Enough room in the main field so didn't have to use the rally field. Site is about a mile from the coast and there are many public footpaths nearby so area very good for walkers. The village of Porlock is only a two min. Walk away and would highly recommend The GBG listed Ship Inn with quality locally sourced real ales and food though I would reserve a table during weekends. Paid £19/ night for two with ehu.

This is a wonderful flat site with stunning views. We have camped here several times and always found it to be very well kept. The loos are fantastically clean. In August there are more portaloos in the rally field - then they take some away when the season is over. We camped up close to one and then came back to find the nearest one was over the opposite site of the field!
A lovely area, lovely walks, a lovely pub (The Ship) with good food. Other pubs not quite so good. Friends stayed in a static while we camped which was immaculate but they were disappointed to have to give a deposit which was only returned after the owners had inspected the van while they waited..
Personally, we think there were a few too many instructive notices around but that said, we still keep going back.

Great campsite, staff very friendly. Camped in the rally field which had great views of the hills and sea. Porta loos positioned around the field and where emptied daily. The field had no electric hook ups so make sure you bring lanterns. Wellies are a must as the entrance to the field can get a bit muddy with cars going in and out.
Toilet snd shower facilities were very clean. Porlock village just a short walk away. Would recommend a visit to the Castle Hotel, great food at a reasonable cost and very dog friendly.

Just returned from our 3rd visit to this immaculate site, which ticks all the boxes for us. The site itself is kept to an extremely high standard, the staff are friendly and overall the site and village have a relaxing atmosphere. The facilities are the best I have come across, even as a Caravan Club member.
The area is great to explore, with walks in virtually every direction. Leave the car behind and walk to Porlock weir and beyond or up into the hills to Horner or Selworthy. Buses run, from the village High Street a short walk from the camp, to Minehead, Lynton and Porlock Weir so there is really no need to use a car.
The village has plenty of places to eat, we had a meal at Lapsewood, which was lovely and very reasonably priced. The village even has a hardware store which has many things hard to find these days.
We will definitely be back, for yet another relaxing break.

Just returned from a great long weekend break at this immaculate campsite. As it was a very last minute booking for the late May Bank Holiday there was concern about overcrowding. This proved an unnecessary worry. More than enough space.
The camp site is predominantly given over to statics, touring campervans and caravans, it has some space for electric hook up if using a tent. The site has a further large field known as the Rally field in a spectacular setting with the sea ahead of you and Bossington Hill looking down on you. No electric hook up in this field.
Eight portaloos were provided that were kept spotless. Our eight year old and four year old loved the openness of the well maintained field. The main toilet and shower block is near the reception so a bit of a trek but again immaculately clean. Showers were always hot. 20p gave access to a hairdryer on the wall ladies.
The wash room was spotless with a fridge freezer accesible to us. There was a larger chest freezer in the main reception.
Porlock is within easy walking distance from the campsite. It has two small supermarkets and a hardware store. Good choice of pubs and restaurants for eating out. If you have children there is a great little park along the lane next to church.
Plenty to explore, Tarr steps near Dulverton is a must, for the children to have a paddle and a lovely riverside walk. Great walks from Bossington to Porlock Weir. Valley of the Rocks past Lynton was spectacular - keep an eye out for the mountain goats. Cloud Farm in Doone Valley was also a special find providing another peaceful riverside walk.Pony trecking can also be done here or just relax with a cup of tea and cake. If you are feeling energetic, higher some bikes from Porlock cycle hire - a new venture set up by a lovely couple. They will drive you to the top of the hill on to the moors and leave you to fend off the next set of hills. If you can stick out the route as far as Cloutsham - much easier if you give the tag along to your husband - it is gentler on the legs with a great sense of freedom as you whizz down the 1:6 hills near the end. Fantastic tea shop at Horner.
Weather was great which helped and look forward to returning. To make this site perfect a shower and toilet block in the Rally Field would be an added bonus.
Finally if anyone spots a pair of glasses on the field near the portaloos on the left hand side then please hand them in at reception - thank you!

Arrived at this site on the first day of their 2009 season, the site was spotless! Staff are friendly and the site is meticulously maintained. The touring pitches are in the centre of the site with static mobile home units around the perimeter. We were allocated a hard standing, with hook up. Freshwater and waste water disposal points are spaced evenly around the edges of the touring pitch area and are in plentiful supply. The overflow field was not in use during our stay as there were only five units on site. Showers, toilets, toilet emptying point, kitchen and laundry facilities were spotless.
The site is located close to the village centre but has excellent views of the surrounding hills. The village has numerous pubs, restaurants and several convenience stores for additional food supplies. There is a selection of other shops including an excellent hardware shop that stocks caravan spares and a cycle shop.
The site is well placed for exploring by foot or mountain bike, note that the geography of the place will involve steep climbs up onto the moor or cliffs. If you want to access the moor try the bridle way up through Hawkcombe (take the lane to the right of the church), 3.5 miles of climbing up through the woods and gorse onto the moor - achievable by mountain bike with reasonable fitness levels and a few steep pushing sections but it is worth the effort and there is always the downhill singletrack on the return journey to look forward to!
We will be back but not during the busy seasons.

Visited during the BH weekend and when we arrived the site was pretty much full. We were sent to the rally field which had cars all over it and tents/vans parked about 30 ft apart leaving little space to put up our tent. We felt that staff should have asked people to pitch a little closer to make room. We ended up having to pitch in the middle of the field near the entrance gate which was disconcerting due to the number of cars speeding up and down the field. The Rally Field had a few potaloos in it which was a god-send as the toilet block was a substantial walk away.
The facilities were seriously stretched during our visit with no room in the very small freezer for ice blocks and big queues for the showers. That said, the showers were always clean and the receptionist took our ice blocks and put them in the chest freezer in reception. The site was a gentle stroll into the village which was quaint with nice restaurants.
A nice stay in a nice location but if they offer you the rally field, I would only take it if you were desperate - the facilities are stretched too far when the field is in use.

We stayed here on a particularly wet August weekend! We stayed in the overflow rally field which was fine and had good views of the sea and hills around. We were a bit of a walk from the shower block and it got muddy - so bring your wellies! There were portaloos in the field (about 8 I think) that were kept really clean and were fine to use, not at all like the ones at festivals! The shower blocks were kept clean and had sponges and mops so that people could clean after themselves. Had plenty of hooks and shelves in the showers too which made it all very easy. Had to pay 20p for the hairdryer but lasted a good 10 minutes, so no real problem there. The dishwashing facilities were good too and there was a fridge, freezer and microwave for everyone's use too. I have to say that when we stayed there were only 15 or so tents in the overflow field, although the rest of the site was full. There is room in the field for a lot more and the facilities would have been struggling as I did have to wait a few minutes for the shower each morning.
The surrounding area is beautiful, a walk down to Porlock Weir is a good idea and we drove to the base of Dunkery Beacon and walked up for some amazing views. Porlock itself is lovely and we had a good meal in the first pub you come to as you come into the village from the campsite (only 5 minute walk). We did arrive late on the Friday though and we couldn't get any food in Porlock after 9:30 so had to drive into Minehead (about 15 minutes) to get a takeaway! Worth bearing in mind for those of us who leave after work on a Friday.
Overall, a lovely little site in a great relaxing location. We will definitely be back although probably not on a sunny weekend in August as I think the facilities would struggle a bit.

A most delightful site .
This is a family run site - 2 generations - it has child friendly showers with toys and playpens - all very clean, as were the toilets. It has a utility area and a small shop in reception.
The site is well kept and has beautiful flower beds; a dog walk and an award winning conservation area.
It is a very small walk - minutes - into the village where everyone is so very friendly and there is old style ironmongers that sells caravan parts & accessories, a great butcher and two very good pubs with food.
We will be returning here very often in the future.

Great site for weekend breaks we stayed a number of weekends in 2006, rang owners a couple of days before without problems, stayed on summer overflow fields no EHU. Allowed to pitch at 10am found the site to be clean with good facilities. Great views and a good central area for touring.
