August 2004 Excellent site! Very clean, superb facilities, very helpful staff and enviromentally friendly to boot!
We had an excellent time here for a week in August. Shops two minutes walk in the mornings for papers and bread etc. Porlock is lovely, and there's a great walk up Hawkcombe just off the High St. Leads up the lane past a large playing field with childrens area.
Would highly recommend this site, especially to families. Very safe to play for the kids, great views, and the owners had some good advice on places to visit locally. Had a great day messing about in a river close to the site (just up the top of Porlock Hill).
We will definitely be returning here again in the future. Scenery along the road to Lynton/Lynmouth and from on top of Porlock Hill is awesome!

August 2004 Excellent value, clean, well-looked after site with best toilet / shower block we've encountered in UK so far - seat / shelf for clothes simple but well-appreciated touch. We visited during "worst August weather in years" so wasn't very busy, perhaps in busier times 3 showers may not suffice. There are also 2 or 3 private wash cubicles if showers full. We were in tents in 2nd field, below electric hook-up field. Dog walking area here, so be aware where you pitch if you are not keen on some inconsiderate owners allowing their dogs to bark. (I am a dog owner!). No smells, though. And otherwise very quiet at night, peace! This field had plenty of room & fantastic views of sea & hills, with reasonably clean porta-loos (take a torch at night!). Meant little bit of walk to showers & dishwashing in 1st field. Indoor dishwashing facilities again clean, use of microwave for 20p, free fridge freezer which could be used for food storage as well as ice packs! And even veg peeler to borrow if you've forgotten yours! Porlock village 5 mins walk very quaint, everything there you'd need, fab icecream, even outdoor shop. Apparently the safaris round Exmoor in a Land Rover are fantastic & well worth £15 for 3 hours, we never managed to do one. What I will say is mind the hills, especially further along A39 towards Lynton & Lynmouth, make sure car & driver are prepared! Porlock Hill scary at bottom, even £2.50 toll-road - worth driving on for views alone - winds steeply & curves a lot. Would recommend both area & site to anyone, may well be back to go on that safari!

July 2004 A friendly, well run and clean site with views of the Quantocks and the Bristol Channel.
Ideally situated on the coastal path and with easy access to Exmoor.
The site is two minutes from the centre of enchanting Porlock - a village with plenty of pubs, restaurants and shops.
The shower and toilet facilities were of an extremely high standard. The fridge freezer and microwave facilities in the dish washing area were an added bonus. They even provided eco-friendly washing up liquid!
The site was very tranquil and relaxing. It is an ideal place for adults-only as there are no children's playground facilities.
We arrived late Friday (9pm) and the office was still open. Peter showed us to our pitch and provided lots of useful information and a very friendly welcome.
One tent, two adults, two nights - £22, and worth every penny.
We liked it so much we are planning to return for a longer break.
Would highly recommend this site.

June 2004 Wow what a fantastic camp site. Super friendly, super clean, super tidy. Spacious pitches with lovely views. Really the best we've been to. All facilities are outstanding and environmentally friendly to boot. No more expensive than others of less quality. Well worth a visit - and we'll be back.

September 2003 Perfect, pleasant, friendly right in the centre of charming Porlock. Just the two of us camped. Flat, clean pitch with lovely views of Porlock hills. Facilities excellent - Use of a kitchen with fridge/freezer & microwave. Toilets & showers very clean & no problem getting dried & dressed.
Locals friendly, good, interesting shops & great down to earth pubs - Specially the old coaching inn - The Ship. Jan & Cliff will be back.

July 2003 Stayed for one night camping in the main field. Nice peaceful campsite, great views of the Bristol channel. Nice walks along the coastal path. Staff were friendly and helpful. Facilities were nice and clean, but there was a queue for showers in the morning. Would definately go back.

July 2002 and few times before A small level site on the edge of Porlock village which has nice pubs and shops. Peaceful with wonderful views whichever way you look. Washing facilities are ok but you go for the peace and the views and the excellent location - at the bottom of Porlock Hill - wonderful base for exploring Exmoor. Small shop, nothing else but everything else within easy walking distance. Nice people, been there years. Walks to Porlock Wier and Bossington - chocolate box type cottages with excellent cream teas. Wonderful corner of the country but don't tell everyone!
