We have just returned from a visit to this site.
The site is well maintained and in a perfect position. The views from this campsite are absolutely stunning. The roads leading to the campsite are quite difficult with a caravan in tow. This site is not suitable for children as there are no facilities for them.
The only negative point of our visit is that the pitches are too close and if you are located in the centre of the field it is difficult to get off the field, as we found when we left early in the morning.
Overall this site is a lovely base for a holiday that should suit all adults.

We visited this campsite during the May Bank Holiday Weekend and pitched in the designated camping area (not the summer overflow field). We found it to be extremely clean, friendly and quiet. The toilets were regularly inspected and the laundry and dish washing facilities were first class. I liked the little extras - use of a microwave and community fridge/freezer to be particularly welcoming.
My only criticisms of the site were I felt the pitches were a little small and there was nothing to do for the children - even Porlock is a bit light on entertainment for the kids.
Saying that, it was good value and I would recommend the site for a quiet get away.

I have got to agree with the last review, we have just returned from what was planned a 12 night stay. When we arrived the site was not too busy but as the weekend approached the site became packed. The facilities could not cope with the number of people staying. This site is a cracker but go in the less busier periods. Porlock Village is only 5mins walk and it has everything you need, Good restaurants, Friendly pubs, newsagent, post office , butchers .

I must agree with the last review. This site is very clean, but cramped. When we arrived we were directed to a very small pitch. Luckily because of a car parked partial on our pitch we were moved. This next pitch was fine, but some of the other campers appeared not to care what their offspring got up to. Like playing all sorts of ball games [no signs banning this] & running amok in & out of every ones pitches. The Owners seen to charge for everything, yet the pitch size remains the same. EG a very large 10 birth tent & wind break would be charged at the same price as our tent, which was a 4 birth with a gazebo. Noise was a constant problem with a TV being left on ALL night in the pitch next to us. Owners of the site seem to think that they are doing YOU a favour by letting you use their site [they think it is the best around]. I find that I cannot agree with this. Charges in the village of Porlock are high.

We have just got back from a weeks camping. I picked this site due to the good reviews it had received on this website.

Whilst I agree that the facilites are excellent (one of the best we have ever been to for cleanliness), we were rather surprised to find that on the Friday after a long hike the camping field was somewhat full.

It would seem that the owners like to see how many tents they can cram on to the field, which is obviously good business for them but hell for all the campers. This then meant the facilities were totally inadequate, the noise from all the people arriving (until late at night) was bad.

We loved the area especially Porlock, but I dont thing we would visit this site again, which is a shame as it is in a brilliant location.

Excellent site, clean, well managed, friendly and great location close to the village of Porlock. New owners for this year so hopefully standards will be maintained. Facilities are the best I have found yet outside of the Caravan Club. Met numerous 'regulars' who all spoke very highly of this site. Will definitely return.

I would heartily agree with all the previous reviews- a really lovely, well run and friendly site. They have won the 5 star loo award of the year- all the facilites are spotless and spacious.
At the end of the day, walk to the end of the site with a glass of wine, sit on the seat and watch the sun set over the sea and Porlock weir harbour!
Coastal walks, rocky valleys, cream teas- the possibilites for walking are endless- the bus service is useful- and Porlock village is 2 minutes away with a different restaurant for every night of the week!
Will definitely be going back- maybe to one of their centrally heated static vans for a winter break!

Probably one of the best sites we have visited in our many years of camping. Great central village location with all necessary facilities, though remaining quiet. Toilets and showers modern and well designed and always kept spotless, as are the similarly excellent laundry and washing up facilities.
Special features of the site include a wildlife garden overlooking the sea - fantastic sunsets. Small BBQ area with fresh growing herbs. Sue, Jim, Jan & Ray are all very friendly and will bend over backwards to help you. And all of this adjacent to many miles of beautiful coastal and forest walks, picture book villages, an abundance of excellent cream teas and plenty of characterful pubs offering a selection of good beers and ciders.
Now what am I doing next weekend?

Really lovely site just a couple of minutes walk from Porlock village, had a lovely two days here. Owners were really friendly. Facilities were spotless and among the best we have seen.

Only very tiny grump was that the ground was quite stony when trying to get the tent pegs in but the lovliness of the site made up for that.

We've stayed at this small quiet site many times over the past 20 years. Reently changed ownership. We stayed in a static which was brand new and spotless. We took a look at the shower block which was pristine - yes, agree there are only a few showers, but lovely and clean. The washing cubicles even have soap dispensers and sponges for wiping out afterwards. There is a travel cot in the ladies so you can wash while your child is safe. Nappy changing facilities as well.

No shop but everything in the village is a two minute walk and there is a Spar open very late.

Views are wonderful. Walks are great. Pubs are great (especially the Ship - their home made food is lovely) and it's a beautiful peaceful part of the country to stay. (Try Horner Tea Garden just up the road a couple of miles - babbling brook, birdsong - oh, wonderful.)

Porlock Wier is very picturesque and just a walk away. Don't come here for sandy beaches though; it's all very large stones and I wouldn't want to attempt swimming. Minehead (6 miles) is sandy but commercialised.

Oare, Rockford and Brendon nearby are worth a visit - beautiful scenery, and the drive from Porlock to Lynmouth (10 miles) has fantastic views over the Channel and Exmoor. Watch out for sheep on the road. Porlock Hill is I believe, the steepest in the country (1 in 4 gradient) but there is a very scenic toll road for tourers.

We love this area, and Porlock and just can't find anything critical to say about it!
