Great area for cycling. Enjoyed staying on this site. Other campers very friendly and helpful. Had one scary night when it was very windy and bits of trees were flying around.
The facilities were adequate and clean. Best to book early to be sure of a place. I arrived a bit late at night having got lost on the way and had to be very quiet while putting my tent up.
Lots of children on site all having a good time. Would return

Postern Hill is a wonderful camping community. The pitches are fairly close together, but instead of seeming intrusive, this seems to contribute to the neighborhood feel of the site. We had several fellow campers make kind offers--a torch, tea, food--and the proximity, I think, encouraged that.
As we were backpacking with bikes and a tiny tent, we were told to choose our own pitch and put up our tent (2x2 meters in size) wherever we pleased, which was a lovely option. The site had dozens of children, all of whom had scooters and bikes and with whom my daughter had a great time playing. There are also rabbits on site, and kids can go into the warren area if supervised and watch and feed the rabbits, which was a big hit with my daughter.
The site manager's hut has a great sample of pamphlets for the area and the managers themselves were friendly, gregarious, and very helpful.
We had a restful night with kind and friendly neighbors, a lovely time with our temporary neighbors and their children and pets, and found the location to be especially pleasant.

Postern Hill is a pleasant campsite set amongst woodland just outside Marlborough although just off a main road which can be quite noisy during the day.
Pitches are plentiful and flat. Barbecues are allowed (but must be kept off the ground).
The toilet block is clean and well maintained as is the outside washing up area. The main drawback of this site is that is has no showers and as a result it is difficult to see how one could stay for more than one night with only a tent.
There is a large Tesco at the bottom of the hill about 10 minutes walk (there is a footpath out from the back of the site) and Marlborough town centre (with several pubs and restaurants) is approximately 20 minutes walk away.
Overall I would recommend this site for an overnight stay in a tent but the lack of shower facilities would make it difficult to stay for more than one night.

Just returned from a muddy weekend at the Postern Hill site. Site itself is reasonable, however when wet as this time the pitches were a nightmare. Why the Camping Caravanning Club who run the sites can't find some gravel to make a few hard-standings I don't know.
I found the charges reasonable for 2 over 55's however the £5 per night for electric hook up is in my opinion gross. Looking at the tariffs if one had a car visit you whilst camping (£3) then per person (£2)
Wardens friendly and helpful, no toilets or other facilities in winter except the usual water and toilet drop.
Waste water is chuck in the hedge and is fairly easy to drop when best part of the site is empty, however when full could present a problem.
Overall, we would return as the site serves a purpose to enable us to visit our grandson nearby, its not the best site I have ever visited.

Just returned from Postern Hill, Wardens very friendly and helpful. I must admit I am not over thrilled with the pitch where you like situation, our 2 dogs Jessie & Stella really loved the forest walks twice a day. The television reception is rubbish, hence the satellite dishes every where. Tescos just a short walk through the forest a down the hill, uphill on return !. As stated before the facilities are basic but the setting makes up for that. All in all we loved it and will return during term times. I reckon that the kids would love playing in the forest, the are pinic benches and BBQs in the forest adjoining the campsite. The site is ideal base for visiting the area.

A return visit, and some last year. Wardens were friendly enough and left you to it, the toilets were fine, there was no hot water for washing up. No showers is a plus as it means the site is quieter than most, but I like to wash my dishes in hot water at least. This site seems friendlier than some others I've been to in general.
They seemed to have put in a few more hard-standing bits near the caravan part, not too obtrusively, which they really needed as being open year round and clay-ey soil means it can get boggy.
A new Tesco has opened just at the bottom of the hill, which is very handy as you can walk down there if you need anything.
The pubs in Malborough are amazingly good and amazingly numerous, and all seemed to welcome kids. We also found a cute little place to eat tucked behind the high street. It advertised French crepes but the main attraction was the retro decor.

The location is good if you like woodland and the walk in to Malborough very pleasant, however the facilities are basic considering the price and especially with no shower. The thing that really got me down was the relentless bureaucracy - a code to get access to the toilets and endless signs everywhere you looked, reminding you of the obvious or offering patronising tips on greening your lifestyle. (I was fed up with it and glad to leave). That said our 6 year old enjoyed it collecting wood and making a den.

Stayed here for 3 nights with a caravan Our first impressions were good on the Thursday night. However after a day out on the Friday we returned to our basic pitch to find we were surrounded by tent campers, if we wanted to leave we would have had no chance we were trapped with tents less than 3 meters from us. That night there was excessive noise past the 10 pm limit with different groups of people under the influence. Funny thing was they all left Saturday morning after just one night ! We thought must be a one off but NO more NEW campers squeezed in for an even worse Saturday night ! Even closer to us We had to wait for them to pack up Sunday morning before we could move our unit out and leave the site. Sorry but this site seems to attract the occasional camper who just meet up with friends have the BBQ and beers and leave in less than 24 hours later only to be replaced with a clone lot soon as their pitch is empty If you like living right on top of others this is for you. You may find it better on the hook up side of the park as there are no 'Tent campers' Not for me I will not be returning again

I admit to being a little disappointed when we arrived as I had convinced myself that this was going to be a large site with many tree surrounded enclaves, such as one gets at Wellington Country Park. The welcome though was friendly and efficient with a camp anywhere attitude and suggestions for suitable spots. Pitches are unmarked apart from the Premium plots. We wanted 3 pitches next to each other but like so many sites, emails went unanswered, so had to risk making 3 separate online bookings as there wasn’t the option to book more than 1 pitch on the same booking – it wasn’t a problem though. We had a similar experience to Gingawarrior, a recent reviewer – we deliberately chose pitches under the trees as it was a very hot day on arrival but the following morning was overcast and not warm where we were. Fortunately a large open plot was vacated nearby so we decided to re-pitch – 4 tents in 25 mins and would have been faster if our new pitches weren’t on stony ground.
This is a popular site for caravans and families (and satellite dishes!), hot water in the loos and washing up area wasn’t on the 6 occasions used over 2 days but the loos were clean and always well stocked with paper and soap. No showers though, a ruling of the land owner. The wardens clearly take pride and look after their site and were regularly seen walking around talking to campers – “correcting” one group who were burning logs in an old washing machine drum despite clear instructions that open fires are not permitted. Close enough to walk to Marlborough with a good selection of shops plus there’s a new large Tesco at the bottom of the hill.
In conclusion, this is a popular and well-run site in very pleasant surroundings, we enjoyed our visit but it didn't exude that sense of openess that we were hoping for so it’s unlikely that we will be returning.

We arrived on the 22nd of July and will leave on the 6th August. We pitched on the left side of the site from the reception area. This is the most sunniest position.
The wardens were helpful and told us honestly where the best pitches were for TV and internet reception.
We do not use the toilets we treat this site as no facilities site, price is £14 a night with the 30% discount Mon - Thurs & 20 % Fri-Sat for the over 55s.
The forest is exquisite and if you have dogs it is an excellent place to come.
The area is outstandingly beautiful and we would return here but pitch more selectively in future. We have seen numerous wild life (roe deer and fallow deer).
The birds are also prevalent although August is not the time to see them. All in all it was a great. We would return
