Had a 2 night stay on this site during the beginning of June, The facilities are 1st class, the café served simple but excellent food. The staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. It was my wife's and children's 1st camping trip and it's got them hooked. Definitely a site to visit.

Stayed here for 3 nights just before the late May bank holiday. The site is a short drive from Ross on Wye and well situated for the Forest of Dean. We received a very friendly reception when we arrived plus a little fact sheet containing details of the site and local amenities.
Being only one of two guests on the first night of our stay, you got a feel for how well tended to this site really is. Everything felt like it was either new or very well maintained. I'd describe the whole set up as functional - nothing really to grab your attention like magnificent views but like Ronseal, it does exactly what it says on the tun!
There are 4 fields and we stayed on the smallest of the 4. The fields are reasonably level although a couple have a gentle slope. Whilst it felt spacious initially, the pitches (with a car parked next to your tent) are just about big enough but when the site was full by the end of the weekend, we felt a little cramped. It should be said though, that at the time of booking the site is very clear about pitch size and we knew what to expect. I think the pitches in the larger fields are bigger albeit people do take the opportunity to park their cars in the car park to free up space on their own pitches e. G. If they are setting up a gazebo where their car should be parked. This means a bit of a bun fight for the limited spaces so the owners may want to think of a better way to allocate these (by all means, make these a paid feature!)
There is a small shop selling the essentials plus a cafe. We used the cafe for breakfast on our last day and thought it was reasonably priced with good quality food. There's a decent fish and chip shop and a Co-op in the local village as well so plenty of options. Washrooms were kept very clean.
In terms of the other facilities, there were plenty of hot showers and despite being very wet and muddy over the weekend, the owners did well to keep everything clean and tidy. Toddler room is a nice feature for young families. Washing up room with a freezer for cool blocks completed the list of useful features. There's no playground for kids although there's enough free space for a kick about in the big fields. This should all be viewed in the context of the site being absolutely packed out for the bank holiday weekend so full credit to the owners for keeping everything running smoothly.
The only service that fell down was the free wifi. It was a nice feature (so I feel a little churlish criticising) given that the Forest of Dean is terrible for mobile signal but it can't keep up with a full site. My advice to the owners would be to heavily limit individual users' speed to allow them just basic web browsing/email/Facebook etc. Like some hotels do. This would mean everyone would at least get some bandwidth rather than one or two people hogging the wifi with YouTube or Skype.
We'd definitely consider staying here again although it's more of a manicured site than our usual preferences. We paid £77 for the 3 night stay (two adults and two under 5s), which seemed ok for the service provided.

Location;
Lovely place, with plenty of places to see and visit, with the Forest of Dean closeby, and the edge of it within walking distance outside the site, approx. 1000m up the small road, and from there you can go in all different directions, so for dogs is an absolute gem. The resident owl is out every night calling, but didn’t get to see it unfortunately. Went to Gloucester, which is lovely, and the work they have done on the historic dock warehouses has been done well. Also went to Ross on Wye, Monmouth, and these are not far away. Just up the road is a place for cyclists, where you can hire bikes, walk, with or without dogs, so plenty of greenery and activities for all. Our dog Kara enjoyed her hols, very tired though.
Site:
Lovely café on site with shop, the food is well prepared, and you can see them preparing food. Everything in here for the children, children were on site, and had plenty of things to do, and they played on site, but didn’t bother anyone. We were on the only hardstanding, which was lovely in the corner, and its fenced off which we think used to be the wardens plot, but they are now next plot up after the small strip of garden, they have planted, which is lovely. The site is made up of 3 large fields, upper, middle and bottom. The site was full most of the time, and it seemed once one tent or caravan left, the next rolled in to take their place, so a popular place, which says something about the site. The wardens are lovely, the chap , is quite a cheeky chappie, and always has a greeting for you. He is really the perfect chap to be on site. Toilets and showers, clean and tidy, even with the amount of children about, and although the site was full to bursting, we did not have to queue for showers. Press button showers, good, didn’t stay on for too long, and you need to wait for it to stop before you press the button again, otherwise a dribble starts coming out before it gets itself going again as I found out being the impatient one ha ha.
Critiscism; only two, and that would be that tents and units are a bit close together for my liking on the site, but we were on the hardstanding so it didn’t bother us. And the other is that there is no dog bins around on or off site, although there is a blue barrel grit bin up the road, but people have reused this as a dog bin, which in one way is a good thing, as they are picking up after their dogs, and basically have no other bin to put it in other than the domestic waste bin on site.
Saw 2 deer in the forest, at last, the day before we left. Haven't managed to see the wild boar with her kids though, never mind, had a lovely week.
All in all a good place to either just chill in the sunshine and peace and quiet or, go out and about cycling, walking, visiting, or a combination of both. I'm sure we will be back for another visit.

A lovely campsite. Family friendly, our boys had loads of fun playing with other children and the site felt safe and secure for them. We loved spending time walking in the Wye Valley and it is close (driving distance) too quite a few walks.
The things we liked -
When you arrive you are given a fact sheet which explains everything you need to know - Doctors, pubs, shops etc. A really great sheet.
No deposit for the key to disabled facilities (we have been charged a refundable deposit for the key in the past).
They are flexible and allowed us to park near the toilets due to disability.
The showers and toilets are clean and well looked after.
The cafe was nice and we liked being able to order croissants for breakfast.
Very friendly staff
Quiet location
WIFI hotspots which was handy and free
Things we didn't like -
The hot water in the shower was very hot and we couldn't alter it which was a pain for kids.
Poor phone reception - but hey we were on holiday and there is not much they can do about this.
One of the roads was closed on the way to the site which meant we had to call the wardens and get directions. This was a pain and I do think they should have known about the closed road and had info on the website.
I think they should think about a play area for kids - but my kids didn't seem to mind and had fun anyway.

Management response: Thank you for your lovely feedback. We are delighted to hear you enjoyed your stay.
We are sorry that you were inconvenienced by the road closure. However, we have done everything in our power to warn campers. There is a header, in red, on our website’s “Welcome” page; a header, in red, on “Our Location” page along with revised directions. Also, every customer receives a confirmation email when they book and again, highlighted in red, is a notice about the road slip and to seek our alternative recommended route. I am afraid that Sat Navs will not pick up the road closure and therein lies the problem. Apologies again, but we really have tried to do all we can.
Yes, the ‘phone reception can be patchy with a few networks (Orange and TMobile) being particularly poor. The entire Forest of Dean is very rural and therefore always suffered with its mobile signal. We have a payphone in reception to try to help address the situation.
I’m sorry but we are a bit stuck with our fixed temperature showers. The showers are currently set at the recommended temperature which seems to be “just right” with most adults but may be a little warmer than some toddlers or young children like. We therefore recommend our customers use the Toddler shower and toilet room.
We hope this answers your concerns and really hope to see you again soon. |

This was probably one of the best campsites we have ever been on and we have been camping regularly for the last 10 years! We were greeted by friendly staff and made to feel very welcome. They gave us a really useful information sheet which not only told us about the campsite, but also about the local amenities and, in particular, good places to eat nearby. We had some lovely meals in the pubs that were recommended - places that would perhaps never have found without the info sheet. The toilet blocks were spotlessly clean with free showers that had ample hot water supplies. The Cafe on site was lovely. They baked on the premises and we often brought their freshly baked bread for either breakfast or for our picnics. The location was brilliant. We spent many a day at Symonds Yat, which was about a 15 minute drive away. All in all, a perfect place to camp to be able to enjoy the hidden gem that is The Wye Valley.

This is a really great site ideal for exploring the Forest Of Dean, river Wye and surrounding villages & attractions.
Campsite very well organised and wardens very friendly & helpful. Showers really, really good even by most hotel standards. Hot, spacious, clean & each cubicle has a wire shelf for shampoo etc. Could not be faulted.
Freshly baked bread & pastries from the cafe (pre order by 8pm to be ready from 9am in the morning) a real treat. Pain au chocolate our particular favourite. A campsite that offer real cappuccinos! We were impressed.
My only complaint was that the 2 small freezers provided for freezer blocks were less than effective. Even after leaving the blocks in either one of the freezers all day they were still not frozen! This did make keeping food chilled an issue for us.
Other than that highly recommended, and thank you to everyone at Greenway Farm for an excellent long weekend away.

This was our second visit at Greenway Farm.
The welcome was as expected, very friendly and professional and we were given our choice of a pitch sheltered from the somewhat inconvenient southwesterly gales!
Our trailer tent is a Conway Classic Trio with full-on four metre awnings, so the sheltered aspect was very much appreciated. The 10m x 10m pitch size is more than adequate and with electric hook-up all the creature comforts are available.
Since our last visit in 2010 there have been alterations and improvements to the toilets and shower blocks and washing-up facilities, which make everything that much easier to access and use. No excuses now for any lack of cleanliness, personal or otherwise!
During our stay we visited local towns, fished for a day on Steam Mills lake and visited two heritage railways, the Dean Forest and the Gloucestershire and Warwickshire, so we were very well occupied.
The local Co-Op in Drybrook had all that we needed to sustain us and we had Friday night fish and chips in the Greenway Café, which was lovely.
This site gives us everything that we require for a relaxed and peaceful time away from home.
With their professional, courteous and friendly service all the people running Greenway Farm make it a very welcoming place indeed.
All in all this is a site with our full recommendation.

My wife and I have just spent 5 nights here and what a fantastic site.
Booking. Really friendly on phone and took advantage of five night starting Sunday offer. Great value
Pitches. 10 metre square pitch. No worrying about unit site.
Camp. Mainly level pitch close to petting animals though main field does slope.
Staff. All were friendly and approachable. Great with local advise.
Facilities. 6 sink washing up room, Laundry room (quite cheap to use), Multiple wash basins, toilets and showers. All facilities kept spotless.
Cafe and shop. We did not use the cafe ourselves but other campers were very complimentary. Shop has basic items but a decent range.
Quiet little village close by with a few shops which we did not need to use. Very close to walks within the Forest Of Dean. Short drive to Monmoth and Ross On Wye and easy access to Brecon Beacons. The site is clean and well maintained. Grass mown well and lots of flowers around in beds, new hanging baskets and boxes. Thanks to the owners and all their staff. We will be returning.

Booked this site as a last minute weekend away - what a find.
Site is spotless and beautifully kept, well maintained spacious pitches and you get such a lovely warm welcome on arrival.
The toilet and shower block is top class, spotless and the showers are great.
The surroundings are very pretty with lots of different walks for all types of age and ability.
There is an on site café which sells various food, drink and snacks. On Friday nights its fresh fish and chips - highly recommended. The home made cake is delicious - what better than home made coffee cake, although my husband would say the Victoria sponge !
This is a first class site and we will be regular visitors from now on - highly recommended

We have just got back from a lovely bank holiday weekend at Greenway Farm. We booked at last minute as the husband decided he wanted to go to the Forest of Dean to do some downhill mountain biking. I'd say we had a VERY lucky find!
The site is beautiful in the rolling countryside, with views of luscious green fields, some with horses grazing in. Which was perfect for me!
The site is all laid to grass (although I did see someone mention there's one hard standing) and is slightly undulating, but we didn't find this a problem with our 7. 54 meter caravan and porch awning, as the wardens were happy for you to pitch pretty much however was easiest for you as long as you were in-between your pitch markers on the fence. Something we found very refreshing.
Also refreshing was the owners not having the need to 'overfill' the site with pitches which gave you a real sense of space. Lovely. The wash blocks seemed to be very new with the ladies having 6 toilets and 6 showers (all kept very clean on a fully booked weekend), I did not have to wait once all weekend. My husband stated there was ample toilets/showers in the mens too.
The Cafe was cute, with a basic but nice and not overpriced menu, we enjoyed our meal there. It also has a takeaway menu (the breakfast baps were lovely the day we didn't have time to cook). It also has a nice wash up area and I believe a laudry room, although I didn't use the latter. There's an information centre by the office, which also sell fresh hen or duck eggs.
The village is a short walk, with a co-operative mini market, postoffice, a fish and chip shop and a dog friendly pub. We only had time to use the mini market on our visit.
The Forest of Dean is close by, which is well worth a visit, whether you're into mountain biking or not (Pedalabikeaway is fab for all sorts of bike hire. There's also a payable uplift service called Flyup Downhill), it has all sorts of bike trails which have all been made up by volunteers for free use, whether you fancy a nice family trail or a mad downhill nutters trail (which the husband did!) or anything inbetween. Or if you just want to walk it's beautiful. If you park at Pedalabikeaway just make sure you pay and display, £3. 50 per day (Summer months) and I think it was £3. 00 per day in winter months. I didn't think this was much when you think the money is pumped back into such a lovely area. We did see cars/vans with parking tickets so don't risk it! If you don't wish to pay, there are other car parking sites around the forest.
Now back to Greenway Farm and the site Wardens (I think they were called Graham and Carol), these guys were absolutely lovely! Nothing was too much trouble and they were always smiling. Which made a very happy and relax weekend! Thank you guys :)
Myself, Hubby, 13 year old and 11 year old WILL DEFINITELY be going back to Greenway Farm. Hopefully VERY soon!
