We have just got back from a lovely bank holiday weekend at Greenway Farm. We booked at last minute as the husband decided he wanted to go to the Forest of Dean to do some downhill mountain biking. I'd say we had a VERY lucky find!

The site is beautiful in the rolling countryside, with views of luscious green fields, some with horses grazing in. Which was perfect for me!

The site is all laid to grass (although I did see someone mention there's one hard standing) and is slightly undulating, but we didn't find this a problem with our 7. 54 meter caravan and porch awning, as the wardens were happy for you to pitch pretty much however was easiest for you as long as you were in-between your pitch markers on the fence. Something we found very refreshing.

Also refreshing was the owners not having the need to 'overfill' the site with pitches which gave you a real sense of space. Lovely. The wash blocks seemed to be very new with the ladies having 6 toilets and 6 showers (all kept very clean on a fully booked weekend), I did not have to wait once all weekend. My husband stated there was ample toilets/showers in the mens too.

The Cafe was cute, with a basic but nice and not overpriced menu, we enjoyed our meal there. It also has a takeaway menu (the breakfast baps were lovely the day we didn't have time to cook). It also has a nice wash up area and I believe a laudry room, although I didn't use the latter. There's an information centre by the office, which also sell fresh hen or duck eggs.

The village is a short walk, with a co-operative mini market, postoffice, a fish and chip shop and a dog friendly pub. We only had time to use the mini market on our visit.

The Forest of Dean is close by, which is well worth a visit, whether you're into mountain biking or not (Pedalabikeaway is fab for all sorts of bike hire. There's also a payable uplift service called Flyup Downhill), it has all sorts of bike trails which have all been made up by volunteers for free use, whether you fancy a nice family trail or a mad downhill nutters trail (which the husband did!) or anything inbetween. Or if you just want to walk it's beautiful. If you park at Pedalabikeaway just make sure you pay and display, £3. 50 per day (Summer months) and I think it was £3. 00 per day in winter months. I didn't think this was much when you think the money is pumped back into such a lovely area. We did see cars/vans with parking tickets so don't risk it! If you don't wish to pay, there are other car parking sites around the forest.

Now back to Greenway Farm and the site Wardens (I think they were called Graham and Carol), these guys were absolutely lovely! Nothing was too much trouble and they were always smiling. Which made a very happy and relax weekend! Thank you guys :)

Myself, Hubby, 13 year old and 11 year old WILL DEFINITELY be going back to Greenway Farm. Hopefully VERY soon!

We spent two nights here and really enjoyed it. The wardens are really friendly and helpful. Great place for a base to see the sights, Only a few of us on site so was really peaceful.

The motorhome waste drain could probably do with being in the middle as was a little difficult near the trees to drain off into it.

Site is well kept and the cleanliness of the showers are fantastic.

There is a lovely Cafe on site, which we never got chance to use but the menu looks lovely, Sunday lunch too!.

The short walk into the village is only a short walk away, not all via a footpath though, take care with small children.

If you want a site full of entertainment and on site facilities this is not for you, if you want peace and quiet, self sufficient this is amazing.

We would really recommend this site and will be visiting again soon

Stayed mid Easter week. Welcomed by the owner - very friendly. They booked us in (very friendly and helpful). Site quiet, very tidy and toilet block excellent, very well kept, modern, heated and lovely hot showers! Very welcome on bitterly cold windy days! Would like to recommend that the women's showers have more hooks behind the partition please.

Electric hook-ups and one pitch hard standing. Didn't investigate any play facilities for children, as we hadn't got any with us.

Forest of Dean and beyond easily accessible. Good local walks. Didn't use Cafe though it looked very nice. Highly recommend this site.

Stayed at this site for the weekend whilst visiting the Forest of Dean, very warm welcome upon arrival lots of helpful information given about the site and local amenities.

Tent pitch itself was in a good location on a slight incline.

Facilities available were fantastic with hot showers available throughout the day and the toilet and changing facilities kept very neat and tidy. Also the fantastic luxury of on site free hair dryers which was a life saver in the freezing cold conditions the British weather threw at us.

On site cafe serves great food at a reasonable price with the ease of not having to walk very far in order to have a good meal. All in all a fantastic site run by lovely people in a fabulous location 10/10 will definitely be returning if in the area again.

This was my first experience of camping with a friend. Loved it here so much we have bought a folding camper and coming back for this week end.

Great snack in the cafe of tea and toast. Clean and warm facilities. Showers were warm and three were plenty of them. Good facilities for washing up too. A well cared for site. I would recommend to my friends and family.

Kids enjoyed the area, great for walks.

We camped here for 2 nights, last week, mid week. Everything was perfect. Toilet block, pitch condition and size, staff welcome, value for money, all excellent. Short drive to forest of Dean. Cant comment on the local pub as we didn't visit. Nearby walks through the forest a big plus for us dog owners! Freezer for refreezing blocks another plus point!

The site of the field we were in is on a gentle slope so inevitably some pitches had a gentle gradient. You just pitch your tent on your plot, to suit you best. Had a lovely stay!

Lovely site. Staff are very friendly & helpful, pitches are well kept, shower/toilet block is nice & clean with plenty of room in the showers to change, get dried and hang clothes and towels, etc.

Cafe on site is lovely. Cake!

Lots of room for the kids to play.

Forest is just a stone's throw away and great for walking and mountain bikes. Local village is a fairly short walk away with the usual basic amenities (not sure about the kebab shop next to the funeral directors but go to the rugby club for a cheap pint ;).

Very enjoyable and would definitely stay again.

Fantastic site. Just returned from a 3 night stay - 18 of us staying in 5 tents. The staff are all very friendly and helpful and the facilities are spotlessly clean with ample hot water. The site is well laid out with plenty of room to pitch even the biggest modern tents. Great idea to pitch around each of the fields to give children plenty of room to run around. 10. 30pm quiet time is also welcome after a busy day of canoeing or caving! Only slight criticism would be the lack of hedging between tents which are pitched back to back - can be noisy if there's a 'snorer' or a baby in the tent behind. The on site cafe is good and the meals were fine - would recommend the Gloucester Old Spot sausages which can be bought there. Local facilities are in easy reach as is the fantastic countryside particularly around the River Wye and Symonds Yat. None of us would hesitate in going back to this site.

We booked the site on the basis that there was easy access to The Forest of Dean, it would have internet access (needed for business purposes) and it would be quiet. I am sorry to say we were disappointed on all counts.

The main part of the forest is not an easy walk nor a pleasant cycle ride away. Very narrow and busy roads have to be negotiated to get there.

The internet access is weak at best and in our part of the field did not work at all.

The last and worst aspect was the noise from a combination of dogs, screaming children and giggling teenagers. The latter took place up to the curfew of 10. 30, which according to the parent was their 'right' to do so.

The other disruptive factor was the slope of the field which made getting a good night's sleep very difficult.

On a positive note, the owners and staff were very pleasant and the facilities clean and modern.

My recommendations would be:

Bring the 'reasonable noise' curfew back to 9pm, so that people like us with small children could get them to sleep.

Evict the owners of noisy dogs

Ensure that on taking bookings, the footprint of the tent is taken account of.

Advise that the sites are on a slope.

Great site! We chose this site because of its proximity to Bristol for a 2 night get-away. Ladies WCs and showers are really well laid out and spotlessly clean. Free showers, hairdryers, plenty of space and a separate baby-changing area were really welcome. Would be 10/10 if they could squeeze in a little baby bath too!

Friendly, helpful staff and the bonus of a few goats on site to keep our toddler amused.

Lovely safe site with plenty of space for children to ride bikes and play.

Only complaint would be the size of the pitches - we have a fairly large family tent and it was difficult to fit the tent + car within the boundaries of the pitch, it didn't leave much room to sit outside, BBQ etc and our 'neighbours' felt very close which was a little stressful since we have a toddler + baby!

All in all a great little site with loads to do in the local area - we would definitely return if some larger pitches were available.
Management response: The baby changing room will be converted to a family bathroom with additional baby changing room over the winter. After opening a new ladies utility block this summer we ran out of time (and money) I’m afraid. However, I have just ordered a baby bath and stand to help things along for the remainder of this year’s season.

We have previously received praise regarding our pitch sizes but, over the last 2 years, we have noticed that some tents are growing very large. If we have prior warning that a customer has a particularly large tent, we have several pitches that can accommodate these comfortably.
