Visited for late May Bank Holiday in a tent. Site is split up into 4 'paddocks' which gives a cosy feeling of camping in a very small site, rather than having all the tents in one field.
Pitches are spacious and the central areas of each paddock were kept clear as play areas. It was bank holiday and the site was full to capacity, also quite a lot of young children there as schools were on holiday,
toilets and showers were busy as a result and did have to queue at peak times for showers, the wardens however did all they could to minimise this, even to the extent of opening up the disabled facility when they could see people queuing.
Despite the site being busy, the facilities were kept spotless, and the toilet/shower blocks were amongst the best I have seen outside of C&C sites.
Ground in top fields is slightly sloping but just about OK for a tent as long as you think about which way around to pitch your tent for best sleeping position.
Local pub is listed as Dog Friendly, which in this part of the world means not only can you take your furry friend into the beer garden, but also into the bar, where the landlord's dogs will quite happily play with it while you enjoy a meal or a drink.
No dog walking facilities on site, but from the site entrance a 100 yard walk will take you into the forest where one of the many paths through the trees can be followed. Free WiFi on site was a real bonus.

Excellent site - very clean, like the way the bins are separate and away from the camping area.
Toilet/shower block - heated, no more needs to be said! Lovely on that chilly May evening! We all wanted to take our sleeping bags in there!
We camped near the goats, few little visitors kept passing our tent - but they were no trouble, and must say this side of the field there was no slope - wouldn't fancy the top corner though.
Friendly staff, good service and food - in the cafe. Book for the Sunday roast, we did and they still ran out, but they were very busy. The entrance is close to the woods for walks - dogs and kids (& adults) all enjoyed our stay and all said that we would return. Didn't visit the pub - but did walk into Drybrook to the chippy! YUM!

Upon arrival at the site we were greeted by a friendly member of staff who gave us an information sheet even before we made it out of the car! How's that for service!
The site is well looked after (whilst we were there they were in the process of planting fir trees around the edges of the fields to act as future windbreaks) and the facilities are absolutely spotless. Was most impressed with the generously sized toilet and shower cubicles and the fact that the toilet block was heated was a delight in the evenings when the temperatures dropped dramatically. I have to admit that there were a few nights when I seriously considered dragging my lilo down there and sleeping in the warmth!
There is also a covered dish washing hut complete with a couple of freezers for the freezing of ice blocks and another hut which contained a baby changing area and a washing machine for those in need.
The site is relatively level with slight slopes here and there, but nothing so sloped that it wasn't workable. All pitches are set around the edges of the three available fields which leaves the centre of each field free for children and 'young at heart' adults to play safely without having to worry about being a nuisance to the other campers.
The only shop we visited in nearby Drybrook was the fish and chip shop, which we can highly recommend by the way! Ross-on-Wye is only a few miles from the site and a large Morrisons can be found there if you wish to stock up on supplies. As for the surrounding area, the enchanting Puzzlewood and Raglan Castle are must sees, as are the Brecon Beacons just over the border in Wales.
We would definitely consider returning to Greenway Farm if fate takes us back out that way again.

Great site very close to a great area - so much so that we booked an extra night!
Upon arrival we were greeted without even having to get out of the car and shown our pitch which was next to our friends who were already pitching. We were given some really useful information including the location of everything you'd need from doctors to pubs.
The toilet and shower block were spotless throughout our stay (which included a fully booked bank holiday), and there was no shortage of hot water regardless of what time we showered. The washing up hut was also kept very clean.
We used the cafe only for some Ice Creams (in April.!) but it seemed very popular for meals as well as hot drinks (will try next time).
The staff were always friendly and happy to help.
Our pitch was plenty big enough - our four 'manner' + car + bikes + sitting area + friends tent and car fitted easily with room to spare across the two pitches. The only slight negative being that we were at the high side of the field, which although gave us great views across the rolling hills and of the sun sets, was on a slope which meant extra care needed with the stove etc.
Greenway Farm is perfectly positioned for exploring the Forest of Dean. 10mins from Cannop Cycle Centre (full day spent on the bikes exploring the forest - use the Family Trail and take extra trails off it - and on the single track trails), 15mins from Symmonds Yat (morning watching Falcons and an afternoon canoeing down the river), 10mins from the Forest Visitor Centre (really busy but starting point for walks etc). Only disappointment were the villages and towns within the forest - not as idyllic as you might imagine, but Drybrook is a 10min walk away from the site and has a really big Co-op with everything you'll need.
All in all, a great stay in a great area on a brilliant site - we will return!

What a lovely site! We couldn't get over how lovely the facilities were - they were warm and clean and never too busy. The cafe was also a great feature. We were very lucky with the weather but if it hadnt been so great it would have been nice to have gone in there for some lunch / warm drinks etc. The milkshakes and cakes were delicious! The owners were friendly and welcoming and the price seemed fair. When we arrived the electricity was off in the whole village and the owners kept coming round to keep us updated with what was happening. The grass was well kept in the fields and ground nice and easy to get pegs into, if a little worn and bare in places where tents had obviously been recently.
Only down side was the size of the pitches, ours was barely big enough for our tent and car (in fact we got asked to move our car a few inches as we were right on the line). We felt a bit too close to the motorhome and tent on each side and the inhabitants felt like they were inside our tent sometimes (especially the crying child). Owner's comment: We have previously received praise about our pitch sizes and are sorry that this customer felt hemmed in. The following morning, the owners of the motor home did tell us that their toddler had been extremely upset on the Saturday night and they had problems calming him down – apologies again
Some people have mentioned the road being noisy at times, I have to admit I wouldn't have wanted to be next to the hedge dividing the field and the road. Cars went along the road at night and this was noticeable but mainly because everything else was so quiet!

Very welcoming staff. The facilities are the best I have ever experienced. There were plenty of toilets and showers to go round. The top field is sloped but there is sufficient level ground to camp without a problem, but the slopes aren't too bad anyway.
The cafe on site is a fantastic feature especially as it rained on one day and meant we could go have breakfast in the warm and dry. The site wasn't as big as I was expecting but this wasn't too much of an issue. I think the site was about 3/4 full when we visited and it didn't feel too cramped - the pitches were a good size.
We had 3 couples and were able to pitch in a circle so actually only occupied 2 of the pitches. Being someone without children, the only down side was the number of young children running around, shouting, crying, etc.
There's plenty to do in the area. The reception has plenty of leaflets but nothing on walks in the area which would have been nice to have.

Took a lot of time deciding where to go for our first ever camping trip, trying to please everybody in the family isn't easy. Chose this site mainly from the reviews on here. I was not disappointed, thank you all.
We had EHU so were in the biggest field. It was lovely, with a real sense of space. A few children playing footie in the middle of the field but still miles away from the tents around the edge so no mishaps.
I have to say I was very impressed with the standard of the shower/toilet block. Extremely clean, despite the site being nearly full and my daughter loved the free showers and hairdryers.
Can't say the same for the washing up facilities, only two sinks and during our stay only one was dispensing hot water, although the receptionist did let me know that they were looking into getting it fixed. Owners' Comments: The mixer valve on one of our sinks developed a fault - we called out a plumber and it was repaired within 48 hours. Apologies to all our customers that were inconvenienced during this period. A note to all customers - we are installing new and improved washing up facilities for 2011.
My teens appreciated the wifi and the cafe.
In our three days, we had a day out at Symmonds Yat (stunning walks) and also a quick stop in Cinderford but mainly we chilled out on the site, just cos it was so peaceful.

We thoroughly enjoyed our 8 day stay at Greenway Farm in August 2010. The site provided clearly marked spacious pitches, ample & clean showers & toilets (we never had to queue), washing up sinks with plenty of hot water, laundry facilities and a fantastic cafe (good value for money & very tasty!).
On arrival we were met by the site owner who was extremely helpful and provided us with some useful local information. We would thoroughly recommend Greenways Farm for those campers wanting a small, friendly site conveniently located in the Forest of Dean.
Whilst the area is ideal for Forest activities (e.G. Walking, cycling etc.) we were slightly disappointed to find that the villages and towns did not live up to our expectations. The Forest of Dean (in our opinion) does not have the charm of The New Forest or The Lake District.

Just spent 2 night stay at Greenway Farm and we had a great stay.
The owners are very helpful and couldn't do enough to accommodate us.
We arrived late on Friday and we got a call on route from the owners to tell us where to park and pitch up for the night and to just settle up in the morning - first time we have ever had that kind of service on a campsite.
Pitch sizes a massive, we had a caravan, awning and a car with plenty of space around our unit.
The fields have plenty of space and its great for kids to play safely, even though the fields are big the owners have decided to only allow pitches around the edge of the field which is great.
The site has a cafe which although we didn't use, the menu looked lovely and the prices very good (plus was always busy)
Toilet and showers are very tidy, modern and clean but we didn't us them much as we used our caravan toilet most of the time.
Surrounding area is amazing, lovely walk into nearby Drybrook and the site is located near the forest of dean, Symonds Yat is a highly recommended place to visit, we spent 2 days here and had a lovely picnic along the rivers edge, also a lovely place to sit and have a cream tea/pint or some lunch.
Cant really say anything negative about this site. We will be back again and you wont be sorry you stayed here.
Big thank you to the owners for being so nice and making our weekend special.
P.S, follow the advice for Sat Nav on the homepage, coming from London you should take the A40 and go pass Lea and head for Drybrook / Cinderford, much more space to drive a caravan that why :)

Only my second camping holiday and what a lovely site. We were on the EHU field, which was flat and had hedges round. The tents were sited around the edge of field to leave plenty of room for games in the middle. There isn't a playground but the children seemed to be enjoying themselves.
The toilets and showers were kept very clean, hot water all the time. Only slight moan would be the water in the dish washing hut was tepid, not warm or hot. Owners' Comments: The mixer valve on one of our sinks developed a fault - we called out a plumber and it was repaired within 48 hours. Apologies to all our customers that were inconvenienced during this period. A note to all customers - we are installing new and improved washing up facilities for 2011.
The cafe on site served breakfasts and on Tuesday night they offer evening meals where you can bring your own wine and beer.
Would definitely recommend this site.
