Spent four nights here, have stayed before and enjoyed my stay but this time was quiet. Disappointed it has now been put down to 6 amp electric and I have everything electric in my van so was unable to use many of my items or not have any heating going or it would trip. I have a low wattage kettle etc but still was blowing all the time. I phoned and spoke to owner she said oh it does state on web site. Also the new shower block was a nice building but you have to shower with your Hands on the shower all the time to make the water come through

We booked last minute as a group of 3 adults and 7 kids staying in a 6 berth tent. We live quite local and none of the kids had been camping before, so this site was ideal. We found the campsite very easily and were told where we could pitch. We were in the middle field next to the alpacas. We could pitch anywhere in there. The field sloped slightly but we made sure we slept the right way it was ok. The toilets were not too far away in a portacabin as the new ones are being built. We were right next to the water and washing up so that was a bonus. People were very friendly and helped us out when asked. The honesty shop was great and there is a chip shop 5 minutes drive away. We are definitely going again next year at the start of the season as we've only had a 2 night taster.

The owners and staff are lovely, the alpacas are gorgeous but. Only two female showers for a campsite that size is not sufficient and they were filthy. I know that a new toilet block is being built but that didn't help us! My other complaint is not something that the owners can do anything about but just to let others know, we found it very noisy, it's near a busy road and an army camp, so expect the sound of cars, helicopters, tanks and guns - not really conducive to a peaceful, relaxing trip. The only other thing is if anything, they're too child friendly (I say this as a mother!). There were families there who made no attempt to control their children and allowed them to run around going into other people's pitches and constantly shouting from 6. 30am until they eventually fell into bed. Not the owners fault but again, not conducive to a relaxing break.

Type of unit was a Folding Camper not a Trailer Tent but FC's aren't in the drop down menu.
We found this site with ease and soon found our pitch with 6amp EHU, although there could be more information about going around to the farm if know one is around, luckily however we did meet someone who pointed out our pitch, right next to the honesty shop and tap and backing onto the horses field.
This site is ideally situated for the short walk through the field to Monkey World just five minutes walk away, although we didn't really find it all that interesting as most of them were hiding.
What we found more interesting was our visit to Lulwoth Cove about 5 miles away with fantastic views of the Jurassic coast and the Cove itself, and Studland Heath about 15 miles away.
It is very difficult to comment on the toilet facilities when they are having new ones built. The cubicles in the temporary toilets I found to be very small and struggled to get in and out (I am a big chap) but the main thing is they were kept clean and had hot water at all times.
The walk to the toilets passed the Alpacas which was nice to see them on our walks to the loo. It wasn't too far to walk but I have had sites that have had closer toilet facilities.
The piece and tranquillity every so often was spoiled by the sound of tanks rumbling up the road outside but this sort of thing added to the quirkiness of the site.
I'll definitely be returning to this site and hopefully the new toilet and shower block will be built by then.

We've just returned from a lovely weekend at Longthorns Farm.
In an age when camping is becoming more and more commercial, it's lovely that these owners have retained the ideal of good old fashioned camping and not just trying to rake in money wherever possible.
I can't add much to what the other reviews have said. We didn't use the facilities so I can't update on those, but it was a very nice site situated in gorgeous Dorset. We'll definitely stay there again.

Well, what a wonderful 10 days! Cannot say enough good things about Longthorns Farm and the area.
Fantastic that a camp site allows you to have a fire (in a fire pit) and also provide fire wood and kindling at the honesty shop (which we used plenty of times to purchase local produce and even alpaca wool socks!). So many campsites don't allow fires, but it was lovely every evening to see everyone outside their tent/caravan with a welcoming fire! Sitting around the fire at night and hearing owls and star gazing are lovely memories too.
We stayed in the first field, the centre of which is kept clear for football, bike riding (even some little ones learning without stabilisers!), frisbee, swing ball, you name it! We had hook up but no TV as no reception, but to be honest, did not miss it.
Mark and Sally are very helpful and Rhoda too. Alpaca walking and the woodland walk are lovely, and the kids really enjoy these and feeding the pigs veggie scraps which they love, spotting chickens and stroking the horses as well. Monkey World is a must and lovely to hear the monkeys in the morning, and not early either! So don't be put off by it!
Chip van comes every Saturday and an ice cream van most nights too, both of which came in handy and have very high ratings overall.
Comments regards the showers, yes whilst not great, Mark and Sally are more than aware of the problems and there are valid reasons which they are hoping to overcome. It didn't put us off wanting to go back next year.
Hearing tanks/helicopters on manoeuvres was actually pretty cool too, if you're quick enough and get to the gate you can see the tanks hurtling along the main road!
Fantastic base to explore Dorset and only disappointed that we didn't get to see and do everything we wanted to. Lulworth Cove, Durdle Door, Weymouth, Swanage, Wareham some of the highlights, didn't get to Corfe Castle which looks amazing.
We also ventured to Longleat which is a fantastic full day of activity, and SeaLife Weymouth is great too including the Tower.

We stayed for 2 nights to be close to Monkey World.
It only takes 5 minutes to walk through the gate at the corner of the site and straight through the Monkey World carpark to the entrance.
The site was tidy.
Portacabin toilets and as previously mentioned the showers are not very private. There are 2 showers in each the ladies and gents.
Washing up facilities (cold water only)
Fridge for use of campers and freezer for ice blocks.
Honesty shop and fridge.
Lots of animals to look at.
The site was quiet the first night but the second night was noiser due to the tanks locally.
Lots of BBQ's and camp fires being enjoyed.

We booked this site due to distance to Monkey World and Bovington Tank museum.
On arrival we were offered our pitch which was nice and level & a lovely grass pitch.
Sally was very helpful as were others whom appeared to be on season pitches, honesty shop is a fab idea & it's great to see a site like this having these sort of shop facilities, for campers.
Did'nt use the freezers for ice blocks or storage of frozen food but again great idea.
Our youngest loved to feed the (Veggie) Pigs, & also walk the Alpacas (although she was nervous Rhoda assisted her)
Shower facilities were'nt great but they served the purpose, & I know they are trying to get this improved, for the future.
Great that the Fish & Chip van visits the site & also the Ice Cream van, the ice cream was lovely & I had a tripple Whippy! (Got to see it to beleive it), very good price too.
Hearing the monkey during the am was great & of no disturbance to us at all, the tanks doing their manoeuvres during the late evening wasn't intrusive to us in any way, also most days we enjoyed watching the gliders fly over & around the site.
Fish & Chip shop in Wool is fab, freshly cooked to order & very large chip portions.
We would love to visit the site again if we get the opportunity.
Its good that they keep the area in the front field clear for the kids to play about in, its also great to see all the kids playing together, & getting along A++++

We booked longthorns farm as it was right next door to monkey world, when we got there we were very impressed. We stayed 6 nights, Sunday to the following Saturday, the longer we stayed the more we enjoyed it, mark and Sally the owners are lovely people and would do anything for you, there are some lovely animals on site, horses, pigs, sheep, alpacas and chickens, the pigs you can feed your scraps too ( no meat though) and for a small donation you can walk the alpacas ( coco, Charlie, Clio and another one.
As for the surroundings it's lovely, there is a woodland walk on site, monkey world right next door, 10 mins down the road a small village called wool, which has a chip shop, pub, food shop ect, and further afield is the main towns, all within 20 minuets drive, the tank museum is a 5 minute drive, at the farm there are cold washing up sinks ( we used these to rinse things and then washed with hot water back at the van)
There are also drinking water points, there is a fridge to store cold food in and a small freezer for ice packs, there is a honesty shop on site which supplies eggs, sausages, bacon, milk, drinks, marshmallows, biscuits ect, you just take what you need and leave the money in the pot, which is a lovely idea,
The toilet block is temporary but is still nice, and the showers are a great bonus but the water is a bit hot then cold, but definitely better than not having one. There is a Chemical toilet disposal point on site, there are electric hook ups on site but we did not use these, also tipi and shepards huts,
We would definitely go back to this camp site as we had a lovely time and met some lovely campers whilst there,
