Simon and myself have to say what a delightful time we had at the Cei Bach campsite. A hidden gem of peace and quiet situated in an idyllic spot - a haven of paradise for walkers sea, bathing etc. We were so lucky to have the sun with us everyday! New Quay is nearby with great shops and pubs. We also enjoyed a coastal walk to Aberaeron and caught the bus back - well worth a visit too.
The campsite was friendly - 10/10 for facilities - our pitch 15 was fantastic overlooking the sea and woodlands - the sheep were funny bleating away going up the hillside to bed on an evening whilst we were toasting our 1st Wedding Anniversary!
Thank you - we will visit again soon.

What a lovely campsite, it was very clean and well maintained. We had a lovely welcome and the husband and wife team were very helpful. The shower block was clean and although the games room was closed, they offered to open it especially for my children. Unfortunately We didn't use it as we spent most of our time on the beach, which was a stone throw away, with easy access. The nearest village of Newquay was a 20 min walk via the beach and approx 40 min walk by road. My children made full use of the play park and football field which were in full view of our tent. The only bad point is the road to the campsite which is a narrow country lane with a few pull in points, making a difficult with bigger mobile homes and caravans. There was another road to the campsite which may have been more accessible but it was damaged and in passable with vehicles. We would definitely return as we had a very enjoyable stay.

Our first visit to this site and I must say it was fabulous. The site and its facilities are first class the positioning is great for an easy walk into the town / harbour by road or along the beach. The staff were extremely helpful and offered great advice and service. The pitch we were on was flat with water and electric. We will definitely return and I would recommend.

We keep trying different locations and sites but every time we keep coming back, absolutely love the site and love new quay. fantastic views great location for walking the dog on the beach. it takes about half an hours walk into new quay on the beach depending on the tide. I would live there if I could.

We visited this campsite this weekend for 2 nights with our 18mth old daughter. As you arrive at the campsite you are greeted by a stunning view of the sea to which all pitches have a great view of it and a very well kept clean campsite. I must say that the owners were very welcoming, helpful and friendly.
FACILITIES: Shower block was very clean and with free hot showers. It is closed between 12-2pm for cleaning which ok is not ideal as that is where the toilets are but it has to be done!
The play park was great for all the children an there is also a games room for them as well. Unfortunately there is no club house on site but this was not an issue for us as the sun was shinning we gathered around the tent for a bbq. New quay is only £5 in taxi for pubs etc and the Cambrian inn is even closer for meals or just even a night out. The walk to the beach is only 3-5mins and is down hill but not to the extreme of a review someone else has left I found it easy enough even pushing a buggy. The campsite is on a slight decent but it is slight and adds to the beauty of everyone being able to have a view of the sea! All in all this is the best campsite I have been to with all the facilities you need also providing electric hook up for tents with running water on the same stand. If you are looking for a nice quiet friendly campsite for the family this is the one. P. S I have never left a review before but thought this site deserved it.

To add to the previous review I would like to add my take on the site.
In short this is a beautiful site, but spoilt. The hook up water tasted like TCP all week so was undrinkable, when I reported to the site manager/owner he didn't seem to care at all blaming it on a leak somewhere, but no idea where !
The gents shower/toilet block was looking tatty and the toilets were disgusting most of the time ( one toilet brush between 4 toilets ).
No official grey waste disposal point, we were expected to lift the wastemaster onto the elsan to empty the contents or poor it in to a grid near by which proved messy !
I would not expect to £27 per night in high season and get such service.
The road leading to the site is very narrow and only just enough room for a caravan so prey you meet no one coming in the opposite direction.
On a positive note the site is in a prime location, very neat and tidy grounds, a stones throw from the beautiful cei bach beach where we spent some lovely evenings swimming in the sea, BBQing, drinking and chilling in the sun.
New Quay is a 15 minute walk across the beach where we saw Seal's on route and Dolphins in the bay. The place is just beautiful :)
I hope things have improved at Cei Bach Country Club because we would love to return next year.

Management response: We'd like to address some of the points in this review, and to reassure potential visitors. The reviewer was told on two occasions not to speed around the site, but abide by the 5mph speed limit and also for tipping his grey water into a soakaway clearly marked 'not for grey water'. The elsan point is quite adequate for this and nobody has complained before.
He then complained that the water tasted strange (again - he was the only complainant). We take all matters such as this seriously and called in the Water Board immediately. They visited the next day and informed us that there had been a burst in the immediate vicinity and because of this they 'flush' the system out for a couple of days. Hence the strange taste - although the water is still drinkable. We informed Mr Hawley of the visit and resulting information - but he was still clearly unhappy. Unfortunately matters like this are out of our hands and we felt that by requesting a visit from the Water Board we had fulfilled our obligation.
We cannot understand his comments regarding the toilets, as the gents had just had a re-furb with new cubicles etc. They are cleaned twice a day and unless we actually check each toilet after it has been used, we cannot help having customers with disgusting habits. On nearly all such occasions one of our sited seasonal customers will come and inform us of any unusual mess which is dealt with immediately.
We feel that this reviewer has made these comments because he took umbridge at being told about his on site speeding and inappropriate grey water disposal, and this is his way of 'getting back at us'. We have been at Cei Bach for 30 years and most of our customers are regulars who come back every year which we feel reflects the site. |

This site is now managed by new wardens and is once again taking touring caravans and tents (the bar/restaurant was closed in 2010 and the owner's advised at that time they stopped taking 'coming and going' customers and just kept their sited seasonal regulars)
From this year there are 48 sited seasonal pitches on gravelled hardstandings with electric and water tap, and 26 touring pitches. These comprise of 5 gravelled hardstanding with electric and water tap, 16 grass with electric and water tap, and 5 grass with electric (no water tap - collection from central water point).

The location and information on their website seemed pretty good. Very happy with the outcome.
Sloping site, but right next to the beach at Cei Bach. Although the beach was popular, it was far less busy than the one round the headland at New Quay.
Facilities good, and no extras for dishwashing, showers or ice pack storage. Laundry facility available, which was useful in washing out a few items even if we didn't use the pay machines. Reception had wide range of local information, and even a book swap shelf. Van turned up twice a day at 9 & 5 serving food, and even took orders for newspapers the following morning.
The site used to have a club house, another camper turned up disappointed to find it shut. The games room remains, which would have been useful had the weather washed out any other activities.
It had two play grounds for the kids, which they loved.
A dog friendly site, but owners had a number of strict rules with regard to their being on site. My son unfortunately discovered that one owner had been careless (3 times on the trot now!)
Good base to explore the area, will definitely use again when in the area.

My family have been coming to this site for a number of years, the site owners are helpful, should you have any problems.
The site is about a ten minute walk from the beach. We have had some really nice meals in the restaurant and later a drink in the pub, that was until they both closed this year, the restaurant has been turned into a new games room slot machines and pool table, the pub is now a house.
The toilets were closed between midday and 2pm for cleaning and so for two hours you have to use the public toilet near the beach.
The beach was very quite but very nice and you can take your dog on the beach, which you cannot do on Newquay main beach.
There are not as many hookups and pitches as there were, as the owners are turning more towards season caravan lettings, March to October.

There are good and bad things.
We even went out of term to hopefully get away from all the crowds and children. That didn’t work.
Lovely location, great walks, nice sea views, 16amp elect, nice lay out, owner keeps grass cut. Lots of water points. New quay is lovely 20 min walk away. Great cliff walks, great food,
Site mixes tents and caravans, had 4 very noisy nights due to this
Simple toilet lay out but clean.
Owner informed me he is making more hard standing and getting rid of the club house. Banning dogs and only letting regular campers pitch In 2011.
My final words are if you go camping with tents or caravans please be considerate to the other camp site users. Keep quiet after 11pm pick up dog mess. Keep your children under control. Respect other peoples boundaries. And remember the site is not there just for you. Happy camping
