Even though this was the last week of the season, all facilities were available, unlike some other sites we stayed on in the same week!
Shop was fairly well stocked, swimming pool was open, games room for children and a well stocked information room. This contained leaflets on the area plus books, board games and jigsaws to borrow during your stay. Lovely touch.
As previous reviews have said, excellent site. My only criticism is showers are dated and far too hot! Beautiful area with lots of trails in forest. Brilliant for adults and children alike!

Excellent Site!
We booked this site through the sun newspaper holidays for its quite location and acceptance of dogs in the units.
Fabulous site highly recommended with an excellent range of facilities, although we never got chance to try them all out. Very helpful family who I believe would go out of there way to help you.
Pubs are not really within walking distance unless you enjoy a very long stroll afterwards. Having said that both the keepers cottage and the wyndham arms are excellent local, real ale pubs which permit dogs (which is a bonus when you go out for dinner). We enjoyed a very nice meal at the keepers cottage.

This was our second visit to this site and we just loved it. No club house or bar, just peace and quiet and a warm welcome. We came here mid September and the shop was fully stocked, the take away was still open (meals had to be ordered by 5:30) and the heated indoor swimming pool was also open. We found all the amenities really good, and clean, they provide a kettle, toaster and microwave in the Campers Kitchen and have a freezer for icepacks. The site is divided into small fields which give the site a very rural, secluded feel, the large trees and hedges make the site quite sheltered. There is an adventure playground for children, with a request that all children and teenagers are back at their unit by 10:00. We found many walks straight from the campsite as it is beside woods in the Blackdown Hills. We will be returning here many times because of the relaxing time we had here and this is just the kind of site we enjoy the most.

Just returned from our 2nd visit to this fab site. Really relaxing for adults as there's plenty to keep the kids happy. Park, playroom, pool etc. My only criticism is that the shower /toilet blocks are a bit dated now and could do with updating, got excited when I saw the new doors but still nothing done to the inside, but they are kept clean and tidy. Great site and will def return

Visited this site last week weather not to bad. Although it rained it was later in the day. Site is very clean and large pitches owners friendly but others made us feel like a intruder as we are from northwest. Youngest loved the play area and games room. A car is a must as not a lot within walking distance. The shop on sites sells most things you need. But there is a tescos about 6 miles away. The takeaway on site we used and the food, choice and prices was very good. We may visit this site again but possible earlier in year. As during the week it did go quite and not as many children for my youngest of 10 to mix with.

What a great site. Lost children for hours in the forest and park only to come home when hungry or thirsty. Feels very safe facilities were of a good standard. Must recommend the take away had a great curry on one night and very nicely priced. Pool was enjoyed by our children it got very warm when watching them with the roof closed. Very steep hill up into forest but well worth it.Tesco only ten mins away.
All in all will return.

We have just returned from our holiday here and can only confirm what all the other reviews have said. This place is perfect if you want peace and quiet. It's also great if you have kids like us as this site is perfect there's plenty for them to do and also as a parent you can relax about them being safe.
There was a problem with a few water logged pitches due to the bad weather earlier in the season. A few of the tents that were being packed up whilst we were there complained about the ground sheets slipping around due to the water underneath (although I have to say it didn't seem to deter them from enjoying their holiday at all).
As mentioned in a previous review there is a glider club nearby and we finally decided that it was worth a visit as you can sit and have a coffee whilst watching them take off, however the weather changed and we never got to see them.
The showers as mentioned were really clean and the water was lovely hot, however there was the slight problem with the dreaded timers. The shop we found was fab, selling freshly cooked baguettes in the morning and croissants, this the kids really enjoyed. I feel I must mention also that the shop seems to cater for the needs of the campers and was selling washing powder for the laundrette by the cup (30p), this we found was really good as most other sites we have been too wouldn't do that.
The kids are well catered for with a brilliant play area and ball field and also the swimming pool, which to be honest isn't much off a pool for swimming in but the kids loved it none the less.
I can honestly say that we all really enjoyed our stay here, but just watch the roads around here as they are a bit 'hairy'.

I found this site after using the campsite search on this site, I picked it because it was dog & children friendly and had plenty for them to do, set in extensive woods for amazing dog walks, with games room, adventure playground, tennis court, football pitch and free indoor swimming pool & sauna.
When we received the booking confirmation there was also a map advising not to follow SatNav due to very seep and narrow hill. We followed their instruction which unfortunately added an extra hour to the travelling time, but we did get there with no problems (a flat bed lorry and a Jeep with trailer both got VERY stuck on the SatNav route, we were to find out).
The site is very much in the middle of nowhere so you will definitely need a car or be happy to chill on site there is nothing in walking distance and no public transport. The site is excellent size with 3 separate fields depending on your camping preference, we chose the field with hard standing level pitches each with electricity and most have there own taps (we shared a tap with 6 other units). 2nd field was grass but still market pitches with hook ups and water the 3rd a 'wild' grass field with no EHU, but communal water tap at entrance. All fields were well used but not 'full'.
Our pitch was more than adequate size with enough privacy. Which backed onto the forest. Toilet, Baby changing and shower blocks only a short walk and very well equipped and clean. The showers were good size and free but those annoying 'timed' push button ones. The best lasted 30 seconds, the worst a mere 5 seconds. There was a good laundry room and ironing facilities, hair dryers in the showers and even a 'camper kitchen' with communal kettle, toaster & sink which I thought was a good idea.
There was a nice grass area just opposite our pitch which we played Boules, Catch, & football, but the kids spent most of their time in the playground. We stayed for 8 nights and it rained every day bar one, but we had not issue with waterlogged pitches maybe because we were in the hard standing field.
The shop on site was small, so limited in choice but we managed to fulfil our needs and prices were quite reasonable. WiFi cost £10 for 7 days unlimited access which we thought was fab, but a bit hit and miss with signal and almost no mobile signal at all. Fine if you want quite holiday like I do.
There is a gliding school near bye and my only criticism is of the constant drone of the light planes that take the gliders up, but this is no fault of the site and just my grumpiness as it went on all day.
The site is family run and they were really friendly and helpful. This is certainly on our list of 'will stay again' sites.

Arrived on a Sunday and they had had a lot of rain on the Friday, told to pitch in 5 acre field, this had been churned up a bit by the cars already there, we were advised to pitch in the middle as the edges near the forest were wet, soggy under foot but the tarpaulin we put down first we had no problems.
Showers were clean even with the muddy field and never had to queue as a mop provided.
Toilets were clean but the floor muddy as no mop. Only gripe about the toilets was needed more soap dispensers as only 1 in gents and as in corner furthest from door didn't encourage usage (ok this is a personal hygiene problem but more dispensers would encourage use).
Shop on site was good for essentials as nearest supermarket was 15minutes in car, no pubs on site thankfully as this kept the site quiet. Games room and kids playground were ideal for the kids.
Only problem with the camping field was it was a 5 minute walk to the toilets and this encouraged urinating in the nearby woods from some campers even during the day.

I was really impressed with this campsite and would definitely come again and again!
The owners were really friendly and as it wasn't busy, allowed me to pitch my tent wherever I wanted!
The facilities are good- there is an indoor pool, nice showers, toilets are clean enough (although quite a few of the sinks were out of order), and there are hot meals to take away available in the evenings which is perfect for people who've travelled a long distance or if the weather isn't great.
Had the most relaxing and pictoresque walk in the surrounding woods (got lost!)
Had a really lovely time here would definitely recommend to anyone
