We visited Forest glade for the first time in May and we were really impressed.

BH Monday treated us to some awful gales, but the site is so sheltered we barely felt the wind, despite the trees all around being blasted. The site is situated on high ground, so when the heavens opened and local areas suffered from flash flooding, the site remained comparatively dry as the rain water ran off down the valley. We were pitched at the lower slope of the site and eventually, the ground did puddle, but considering the quantity of water dropped in such a short time, we got off very lightly, and once the rain stopped, the ground cleared up quickly.

The kids had a great time playing in the woods, riding their bikes, playing in the play area and swimming. This is a quiet uncommercial site and we loved it.

It's true the showers on timers are so quick that you really need to keep your hand on the button throughout, but there are two more showers in the toilets (same block) which have a dial and so washing long hair isn't nearly so arduous!

The owners were very friendly and happy to help. They were also laidback in their approach so we were able to pitch with our friends without any problem, and there was no hurry to rush off the site on the last day at no extra cost. The pitch sizes were very generous with plenty of room for the kids to play badminton, cricket, etc.

I imagine that outside school holidays, the site could become quite empty and quiet as it isn't in a particularly touristy area, this may or may not suit all tastes. Tesco at Honiton is around 20 minutes away and Somerfield in Cullompton a similar distance.

We took a walk from the site to nearby Sheldon Forest (forestry commission maintained). We didn't see another soul throughout our walk but did see some lovely wildlife. There's a great variety of trees and plants for kids to search for. There aren't many tracks through the forest, so be warned! We plotted a trail with our OS map, but the tracks marked on the map must be rather overgrown and we ended up getting a bit lost.D'oh!

In summary a very nice relaxed site, well worth a visit.

This was our third visit to this site.

The welcome is wonderful, toilet and showers always spotless. The shop is well equipped.

It is very peaceful, and as we do not have electric, there is lots of space on the touring field.

Be prepared to travel for 30 minutes or more, for good surfing beaches, and other attractions, although, I think that this is worth it!

Stayed in the rally field. It is a lovely clean site clean toilets and showers. But showers although hot were not very good you had to hold your hand on the button. Very hard to wash your hair with one hand. And felt they could do with a toilet block in the rally field. Good shop and cafe even though you had to think in advance and order your food and no cooking on sunday.
Brilliant site for dogs. Seemed the children loved the parks and the pool. Loved the idea of the campers kitchen which had microwave toaster and kettle. All in all it was a nice site with friendly staff.

I have just spent the weekend at this lovely site, with my husband and 3 kids, we were on a Rally with UKCS.

The Rally was given a field almost to ourselves, this was in a clearing in the forest, totally enclosed and really stunning.

The site itself is well equipped, with a small shop that sells everything that you would need at short notice, a small swimming pool, that was free of charge, along with a Sauna that you could book for an hour at a small charge of £2.50. There was also a games room and Play park for the kids.

Laundry room and dishwashing area, great for tenters. The shower blocks were in good order, the only downfall was the shower was on a timer, and lasted about 5 seconds, hard to wash the soap out of your hair and hold the shower on at the same time, but we managed.

All in all a great site, that I would go to again, be it with the UKCS Rally or on our own.

Nearby you have the local towns which have all the shops and supermarkets and I would say no more that 15 minutes away by car.

This is not a bad site, but there's nothing that would make me want to return. It's a quiet, 'middle of nowhere' type location, and it's cheap.

I would agree with most points in the other reviews regarding facilities etc, so I'll concentrate on two aspects which others haven't mentioned before:

1) Some pitches are really small. We were in a field with a lot of mobile homes, and our pitch was tiny. Also, the way the pitches are laid out means that all you can see from the window of your van is a sea of caravans. They could have been laid out much more imaginatively.

2) It is a nightmare to get to! It took us an hour to get there from the M5 Taunton junction(26) even though as the crow flies, it's probably only 15 miles, as the direct route is not suitable for caravans, and you have to go via the A303/A30 and Honiton. Even then, the quality of the road surface over the last 6 or 7 miles is so poor that you struggle to top 25mph unless you want the contents of your van scattered everywhere!

So overall, not a bad site, but nothing stood out to make me want to return.

Just returned yesterday from a weekend at Forest Glade and loved it!

We arrived on Friday afternoon and were shown to the Triangle pitching area where we were told we could pitch anywhere but advised that the sun fell best to the left hand side if we wanted to pitch there. We pitched our tent and were able to walk straight into the forest which was lovely.

The site itself is surrounded by trees and very peaceful (there was a road next to the hedge by our tent but it was very quiet, especially at night). There is a lovely play area with an area for smaller children and the more challenging frames and the zip-wire (our children loved this) for the over 10's. There's also an indoor games room with atable tennis table and a couple of pool tables and a ball pit and slide for the under 6's which is great when it rains. We also used the indoor pool which the children had great fun in but the changing facilities and showers in there were quite small and cramped when busy.

The general toilets and showers were kept very clean but are quite dated and the showers were very hot at some times and almost cold at others which wasn't fun with small children to keep clean.

The shop on site was very reasonably priced, quite small but it had all the basics.

We only left the site once when we drove to Dunkeswell airfield (about 5 mins) and were able to see small planes taking off and landing, Microlights and Gliders and even watched some sky divers which the kids thought was fabulous.

We are looking forward to a return visit next year to this incredibly friendly site (both staff and fellow campers) and would happily recommend it.

What a friendly, lovely campsite, great for the children, excellent play area from ages 2 to 12, the woodland surrounding this site gives a great adventure for all ages, den making is a real must. The only down side is the swimming pool is freezing, but you cant have everything. The indoor play room is sufficient for wet days and caters for all age ranges. The shop is fully stocked and you can even get a Curry !. Nice family site.

Visited this site on a recommendation of a friend and will be going back there at some point. We were on the rally field and had plenty of space to pitch our unit. The facilities were clean and well maintained although the ladies showers were the push button kind and a couple of them only lasted 3/4 seconds at a push so using the ones in the ladies toilets is recommended as they last longer.
The launderette came into use although it was busy at times so best to go early morning if you can. The swimming pool is small but I made use of the adults only hour in the morning and the kids were in and out of it all day. Lovely adventure park with a zip slide for the older children.
The small library was well stocked and the games room kept the kids quiet for hours. The water tap in the rally field could do with being raised as those of us with aqua rolls couldn't fit them under the tap properly to fill them. The staff I met were lovely and helpful so a big thumbs up to this site.

Forest Glade is most aptly named. It is a little gem hidden away amidst secluded & picturesque pine forest in the Blackdown Hills, with nice level pitches.
Lovely walks in the woods where we spotted a deer & a badger, squirrels, dragonfly & bats.
The children's play area is in a nice shaded spot & is spacious & well equipped. Indoor games room with a ball pool ( under sixes ), table tennis ( buy own ball ) & coin operated games.
The sauna room & tennis court is fee paying.
The covered free swimming pool proved a big hit with the kids & they spent every available minute there.
The shop carried quite limited stocks & would benefit by expanding a little on quantity & selection.
Tesco's supermarket in Honiton is approx 20 mins drive away.
The early evening takeaway is very clean, with a varied menu, but BEWARE as you must order your food earlier in the day.
The staff were all very friendly & helpful.
The toilets & sinks were clean & plentiful. There is a vanity mirror & free hairdryer & also a washing cubicle for a private wash down.
The main block showers were the only real disappointment as they were push button ( like the vanity & washing up sinks ) & only lasted about 3 seconds per push.
If staying in the Rally field, it is a fair way to the loos, so a potty for the kids is a must at night.
Impressed with the recycling room for bottles, newspapers etc., & the indoor campers kitchen with free use of toaster, microwave, kettle & sink.
All in all, we enjoyed our stay here & felt it was a safe environment for our children & dog friendly too. We will definitely consider another visit.

I was very impressed with this site and pretty much echo other reviewers' comments. Positives. Doesn't have the downside of the 'commercialism' of the very large sites and yet great facilities - the park was a big hit with the children in our group, indoor swimming pool - not the largest but very handy in the rain, fantastically stocked shop, excellent laundry room, good washing up facilities, a games room, a tennis court. The back field is a bit of a walk from the toilets, but it is large and you can pitch pretty much where you like. The site is surrounded by woodland and forest, which the boys (all aged about 9) absolutely loved.

On the negative side, our party wasn't impressed with the showers. There were five for men - two in the toilet block and three in a dedicated shower block. The site wasn't very busy and therefore, these showers always seemed relatively free. However, the ones in the shower block were push button, were too hot for me (were okay for others) and the nozzle was rather low down (which caused a problem for one of our party who is over six foot). The ones in the toilet block were okay but too cool for most and the cubicles were small.

Overall though I would definitely recommend this site.
