Not the easiest of campsites to get too especially with a trailer, narrow winding roads .
Beautifully laid out Campsite with lovely surroundings, Spacious level pitches, with electric hook up. Well stocked shop at very reasonable prices and very friendly and helpful staff, very accomodating, park perfect for children and plenty of playing space, showers very old need complete update . Games room ideal for kids but again could do with a revamp.
Swimming pool quite small but lovely to have a swim first thing in the morning, Paid for Wifi during stay but so far up was a little hit and miss. Be prepared for very limited mobile phone signal. Shop cooks homemade food most evenings but be prepared to order well in advance. Havent tried the food yet but the reviews are excellent
Overall lovely camp site and have booked for another visit on the August Bank holiday . Will try there homemade food too this time :-).

On arrival our first impressions were good. Nice site, very neat & tidy. We had one of only two fully serviced pitches which were in a good location for the facilities.
Later that evening we noticed large amounts of people arriving. It is quite a large site and only has one toilet/shower block, not only this the showers are terrible. The push button showers give a dribble of water for about 2 seconds. I found one shower with enough pressure to work in the gents toilet but that was still only luke warm. The bins were overflowing at one point and the floors in the toilets were dirty.
Would not visit again.

Nice site. The kids 11, 9 and 4 loved it to bits, loved the swimming pool and the playground. Nice little shop reasonable prices too. Fantastic if you have dogs as your in the middle of large woods. The lanes surrounding are a little hair raising! Really enjoyed the stay. One downside were the showers, little pressure and random temperatures on timer buttons (2 seconds!)
Would like to return

This was our second visit to forest glade , not much has change except it was blazing hot all week.
The pitch we had was complete with hardstanding and hookup and could not fault it in any way
The waste water point was a bit of a trek from our pitch and was located at the back of the groundsman building near the pond
The site is very clean & quiet & safe
The kids play area & swimming pool is to good standard
The shop on site was excellent and was was not over priced like some other campsites shops
The toilet block has had a face lift but is still out dated in side , and wasn't very clean at times.
The free showers are not the best to be honest hit / miss , I would rather pay !
The surrounding area was nice for walks etc , with some nice pubs to visit within a 5 mins drive and some of the main attractions / beaches / day visits places were not that far away from the site
If you want to go shopping (don't bother going to hointon), there was a tesco at junc 28 or you can go to tiverton town were there was a large selection of shops etc
Overall we liked forest glade one or two gripes after all we are British , this site is reasonably priced and is nicely located in the hide away of the black down hills , this is a good family site and I would recommended to others to try.

Just returned from this site. Excellent, peaceful site. Well laid out.
On site shop stocks all the basic things you will need. Didn't get a chance to use the swimming pool, but being free I am sure would be a bonus if you have kids.
Toilet blocks kept very clean along with the shower areas. Not great pressure in the showers, but they do the job.
Good area for exploring the coast. Be prepared to drive along some very narrow roads though.
Nice pubs locally, doing very nice food. Very good Chinese in Cullompton.
Would definitely visit again.

We visited this site for a short break just before Easter. Decided to go there following reviews on UKCS, and the fact that they accommodate large tents.
Access to this site can be tricky for caravans and large motorhomes, as the approach roads are narrow, and in once case via a twisty road on a 1:5 hill! It did appear however, that the local council were patching up potholes in the approach road whilst we were there, making it much easier.
The site is divided up into several small fields - divided by hedges - which really does give a feeling of privacy.
Pitches are fairly level, and in our case, huge. We pitched our tent (Hartford XL) along with the front extension, parked a large 4x4 at the side, and were still within the boundaries of our pitch, and had ample play area at the front of the pitch.
One of the first things you will notice, is the peace and quiet. The site owners effectively ask for a 10.30pm curfew on noise. Which was absolutely observed by all during our stay. And because of the location, the only traffic noise you will hear, is the occasional agricultural vehicle going down the only road near to the site.
Would agree with others that the facilities are a little dated. However, they were kept spotlessly clean.
Showers were well designed with a separate showering and changing area for each cubicle. Whilst the hot water was plentiful, the showers were not exactly powerful, usually giving just a dribble. Showers in the toilets and swimming pool changing rooms were much better.
Toilets, as mentioned, were kept spotless, and well stocked at all times, and never seemed busy. Though I do wonder how busy the facilities would become during the peak weeks of summer, as just one block services the entire site.
Indoor swimming pool is an excellent facility, particularly for rainy days. Real bonus is that it is free!
Childrens' play area is superb - split into two. One for the younger children, and a slightly more adventurous area for the older ones.
The woods surrounding the site can give endless hours of walks and adventure. And as the site allows dogs, I would imagine that the dogs would have a field day.
The on-site shop was well-stocked, and in my opinion, extremely reasonable - given that the nearest off-site shop is a short drive away rather than a walk - Although there is a Tesco at J28 on the M5, which is only around 5-6 miles away.
Didn't try the takeaway food (need to pre-order before 6.30pm), and frustratingly we didn't take advantage of the warm croissants for breakfast!
This site is large enough to get a sense of a community, but small enough, and well designed as to have a sense of privacy. For example, from our pitch, the nearest water tap was fifteen seconds walk away, the toilet/amenities block was a forty second walk, the pool and play area was around a minute, and the shop/reception was about the same.
The 2009 Tariff was extremely good value. It cost us £80 for a week - two adults, two children, and EHU.
In my opinion, this site is a fabulous place to set up a base for exploring Devon, and venturing as far as West Dorset, as well as Torbay.
Would I recommend this site to others? Yes.
Would I use this site again? Damn right I would.

This was our first vist to forest glade , sadly it rained non stop , we had booked the 1st 2 weeks in august but only lasted a week due to the bad weather the pitch became waterlogged. The site owners tried their best in helping us in lending us a ground sheet for the entrance of our tent due to the soiling of the ground on our pitch. We had a nice large flat pitch with electrical hookup and a water water point near by . The site was nice and clean and the on site facilitues are all quite close within a 2 minutes walk or so to all pitches (not 5 acre camping field).
The showers are free and were hit & miss , luke warm some days , washrooms were clean slightly out dated.
The onsite shop was well stocked and had a good selection , you could also order takeaway food and reserve morning papers.
The children's play room near the shop and play area ( at the back of the swimming pool )were to a good standard.
There was also a information room with a good selection of books / mags you could borrow.
There were a couple of washing up sinks & and a campers room with microwave , kettle , sink
The laudry room had a couple of washing machines and dyers.
The swimming pool was good complete with parents seating area / but got quite packed , this was due to the bad weather there was also a sauna room as well.
The local area around forset glade is open and quite nice with lots of walks near by , you will need a car / transport if you wish to go any further ie Honiton / Lyme Regis (nice beach , safe for the kids) etc. The main shops are around 20 mins drive away , when we were there a new tesco was being built near junc 28 m5 handy for our next vist.
The local pubs were 5 /10 mins drive away and both served hot meals etc.
We enjoyed our stay at Forest Glade and will be returning whit week 2009 , we now upgraded to a caravan and were hoping for better weather.

Quiet site in the middle of the forest. Friendly owners. Good flat sheltered pitches for tents. Dish washing area needs to be upgraded (the plumbing leaked over my foot). We stayed in mid September, quite chilly, and found the toilet block quite cold without any heating. The showers in the ‘shower only’ block were push button and suitable for short humans only which was inconvenient, I had to kneel down to wash my hair and I’m only 5’ 6”.
I used the showers in the toilet block which were better, but hot water took sometimes 5 mins to come through, and then it wasn’t really hot enough. Some washbasins were covered over by plywood, so only 3 were in use – I can only think this exercise was to make cleaning quicker. Free hairdryer, shame about the broken stool. The toilet paper dispensers were behind the toilets, on the wall above a shelf – I would think this could make access difficult for children. With a bit of TLC and some modernisation, this site could be really lovely again. Cost £11 per night, plus 50p for the dog. Dog walk was in the woods, and easy access from site.

This was our second visit to this site.
Its seem the only times we stay here it rains, this year the weather was awful it rained for 8 days solid.
Given the amount of rain the site suffered, very water logged loads of mud and very little grass left. I did feel sorry for the owners watching all the pitches slowly being closed and people repitching tents and moving caravans.
The owners were excellent, letting you arrange a pay as you stay, they wouldn't let us pay until we went home.
Forest Glade is based in the Black Down Forest near Cullumpton and Honiton, roads leading to site are rough and can be tricky to navigate. Very quiet setting and secluded only 20-30 mins drive from Honiton and A30.
Site has well stocked shop, owner will always try and stock something if you cant find it. You could always use Tesco in Honiton.
Take away does do good food ( need to preorder on day).
Very dated play/games room.New outdoor playground which the kids loved.
Nice little heated indoor pool, well used during our stay. Given its size it can get busy at times. Bookable sauna on site aswell.
Showers and toilets are plentiful but could do with a lick of paint as they are looking tired.
Laundry ( washing and drying ) iron and rather cool that it has a campers kitchen which has a microwave, toaster and kettle.
Electric points covering many pitches (not 5 acre field), we found tripping out a lot was a pain as site only has one phase. Every one had electric heaters, kettles and tv's with such loading it couldn't handle it at times.
Given the last few points we will return sometime again in 2009, its a brilliant site with good value for money.Lastly always look out for Dawlish Airshow during August, its free and lasting all day. Spending a day on the beach watching planes.

Have just returned from a short break at this fab site. The owners were really helpful and friendly. Site has ample toilet and shower facilities, 2 baby rooms, 7 wash up sinks, campers kitchen etc. The free freezer block facility was great too.
Kids enjoyed the pool, playarea and games room.
Great value , well kept site and will definitely return soon thanks
