Booked one night camping midweek and when arrived was shown to a very nice camping field which we had to ourselves.
There were several water taps and picnic tables for use and the field backed on to a golf course. We couldn't see any caravans as willow trees seperated the camping field from the rest of the site which suited us just fine.
Another good point was that vehicles were not allowed onto the camping field and the car was left just on the other side of the willow trees.
Wonderful location by the river. Also a wonderful lake just a short stroll away which we enjoyed walking around.
Owners of the site were very helpful and directed us to some nice local pubs such as the dragoon which served some wonderful food.
Popped in to the brampton mill pub and restaurant next door to the site for an evening meal. The food was expensive and a bit disappointing, ordered two mai tai cocktails at £6 each but they didn't taste anything like mai tai's.
Toilets and showers on site were very clean. Some road noise at night but this didn't spoil our enjoyment
Overall of our experience at the willows and would certainly return again.

An idyllic site - flat ground, clean toilets and showers, a play area for smaller children and a large playing field for ball games.
Within walking distance (approx 15 mins), is a countryside park that takes you through the woods and to the icecream shop at the end - my children loved it!
There is a Sainburys Superstore a 5 minute drive away, ideal for all bbq essentials, and for your morning paper or to top up on milk is a co-op store in the other direction, opposite a convenient chip shop when needs must!
For a leisurely evening stroll, a walk along the river to see the water mill and the weir is a lovely end to the day.
This site was recommended to me by my Dad and he was spot on right - a perfect place for a get away retreat and leave the everyday hum drum of life behind you. We will 100% be visiting this site again in the near future!

A reasonably large site. Toilets and showers modern and clean. Golf course nearby for a pleasant stroll. There is a lake and Canada geese. Pubs in Brampton. Brampton Mill, which has been converted into a modern restaurant and bar while preserving the architectural features, is just two minutes walk away and sits on the banks of the River Great Ouse. A variety of reasonably priced, good quality food is served.

Pretty site which lives up to its name with lots of willow trees. We were in a caravan and with family who had a tent - the wardens kindly put them beside us on the caravan part of the site so we could be together.
Toilet blocks were clean and the showers were the best laid out site showers I have ever used. They had plenty of changing space in a bit in the cubicle which kept dry - very well thought out.
Location is lovely - a short walk to a few local pubs and lots of public footpaths leading from the site to various places and the river is just a minute away. The Mill House pub and restaurant is worth a visit - they do lovely cocktails and the food looked great!
The only down side for me was the gravel drive around the site - we were beside the gate so had the noise from the gravel quite frequently as vehicles went in and out, but all the plus sides outweighed this.
We were only there 2 nights but would have been happy to spend longer there.

This was our first stay in our campervan, and what a great choice too, the owners were very helpful and managed to fit us in.
The site is very well maintained and calm, the toilets blocks are very clean and has everything that you need. The owners were very helpful upon arrival (what a great welcome to the world of camping) and recommended few pubs in the area. Everything is great about this campsite. I would certainly go back again.

Arrived from the station by bike along the cycle route (NCN 12/51) which runs from the station exit to the road to the site. Sign to site was hidden in a bush, so look out for the Brampton Mill sign which is more obvious. So no bike problems for us (referred to in earlier reviews.) Charged £13.00 which is the car plus tent rate even though we were on bikes. Dare I suggest a cyclist discount? Might get more campers that way.
Reception at the wardens house is in the centre of the site so wardens can keep an eye on things. Escorted to the pitch in the screened off from mega caravans (satellite TV and rotissary barbecues essential!) camping area (no hook ups in this bit). Ground is, as previously noted very hard, so strong pegs needed. Showers very clean and look very new, so assume refurbished over the winter, given other comments. Surprised only 2 per sex given size of site. Separate disabled toilet and shower available with level access to all parts of the site. Nice touch are the books and magazines for all ages available for loan by the exit from the loos.
Playground now looking old and only for up to 7s, so my 6 year old son thought it a bit tame.
Dogs on lead rule not being obeyed by all, which is a shame as my son is not keen on loose dogs, although I should point out none were misbehaving. Important too as there is a public footpath through the site, so there are non resident dogs and walkers passing through. This is probably why there is a key pad lock on the toilets.
No site noise issues apart from a family whose daughter aged I would guess 5 was allowed to stay up until 10pm and then went to bed with a portable DVD. You can imagine the row when she had to turn it off at 10:20, by that stage clearly too tired! If only the parents had read her a bed time story 2 hours earlier!
What was surprising was the noise from the A14, quite a loud roar all night despite it being quite a way away. The trains were audible too, but much less intrusive. Very still and humid night so perhaps that's why.
Site also has a separate field for Caravan Club members only. I didn't explore this, but this does go down to the river and moored boats.
Huntingdon is a 15 min bike ride away all on cycle path. Town centre is nice but very dead on a Saturday night as only 3 pubs and one Pizza restaurant. Ice cream van called round the site that evening much to my son's delight.
Sunday am we rode to Hinchingbrooke Country Park (15 mins mostly cycle path) which has a very good playground for older kids (big slide, arial rope way) and a cafe open from 09:00 7 days a week. Cooked breakfast with toast and coffee for £5 was very good. This is walkable from the site in I would guess 20 mins and probably the closest place to get breakfast as there is no cafe or shop on site and the Brampton Mill is lunches and dinners only. There is a short cut path into Hinchingbrooke Park at Nun's Bridge, which is the river between the campsite and the road to Hinchingbrooke. This then leads to the Chestnut Avenue path so a shaded walk next to the river.

We had a 2 night break at this site with glorious weather on our side. The pitches are on flat ground and are well spaced with lots of lovely willow trees (ground was very hard-we used rock pegs). The willow trees did bring two of my children out in a rash and gave a child in another tent very puffy eyes, so please take anti-histamine with you if you visit. There were some more permanent touring caravans on site, but we had no bother from workmen / vans as some reviews have stated. There are some pleasant walks to Huntingdon and also to and around the country park (which has a fantastic playground for older kids).
The grounds and facilities were kept clean however the lock to get into the toilet block was a bit annoying, especially as this was also the only way to the dish washing area. Its not easy to type in the pass code when you have a large bowl of dirty pots and dishes to carry. There was only one sink for washing up which did mean once you'd managed to get through the door you then had to queue up. I never queued for a shower (even though there are only two for each sex)and hot water was plentiful, but the shower cubicles were a bit cramped. It would have been nice to have had some cubicles with a basin for washing.
All in all, we enjoyed our stay and will be returning.

Very pleasant site. Toilets/Amenities block well kept and very clean. Disabled toilet was well equipped and very user friendly. 4 pitches reserved for disabled as electric is a higher wattage so additional batteries can be charged without tripping electric. Huntingdon easy to get to, with a large sainsburys within easy reach. A pub restaurant is 500 metres away situated on the riverside. Quiet midweek and very busy at weekends. Wardens very helpful

We stayed at Willows for three nights during October 08 half term. We live only ten miles away so knew what a fantastic area we were going to be in for walking, cycling, dogs etc.
There had been a little rain before our arrival but poor drainage on site meant half the pitches were unusable. The play area was only open for the first day of our stay and then it was covered and put out of use for the rest of the winter, a very odd move we thought seeing as it was half term. The toilet block was ok, clean but dated. The whole site was a bit rough around the edges.
There were quite a few semi-permanent caravans, obviously occupied by builders / tradesmen who were forever coming and going in vans day and night. The children were moaned at for riding their bikes around. Unlike other reviewers, we didn't come across particularly friendly wardens, I understand that the chap normally in charge was away for a few days and his daughter was left in charge.
However, the area is superb, the river is a stones throw away, with lovely walks in each direction, one towards Godmanchester (through fields of cattle so dog-owners beware) and the othe other goes along the back of the golf course and the back of the village. The Mill pub / restaurant is great (it's been a bit dodgy in the past having changed ownership quite often) but the bar menu and the restaurant menu are both nice and they were very welcoming to the children. They also serve Costa coffee through the afternoon which is great out by the river.
Hinchingbrooke house and park are the other side of the road. We love Hinchingbrooke park and go regularly, great for kids, walkers and dogs. Free to park and free to enter. Nice little coffee shop on site.

We stayed for the weekend at this site as friends have been saying it a really nice site and it is. The warden is really friendly and helpful and site is really nice, willow trees everywhere and rabbits lol. Never seen so many. Just down the lane is a pub with a working mill. When we went it was a lovely hot sunny day and we sent the afternoon sitting in the sun with a few cool beers. We highly recommend the site and will definitely go back again next year.
