Following a very unwelcome reception from a previous park we decided to try this one. What a difference! Very friendly welcome at reception, great location, facilities fantastic, well stocked shop. Right on the beach, where you can learn to surf. Entertainment although we didn't use it seemed good from the adverts and feedback from other campers. What more can I say! Excellent park all round.

We've been coming to Croyde now every bank holiday & summer for the last 3 years. This campsite has a fantastic location right on the beach within good walking distance of the village.
The campsite has good sized pitches. It has however gone down hill in recent years. It is overpriced. The showers are temperatmental and not hot enough. You used to get electric points but these have all been taken away. Will be looking for a new site in Croyde next year when we will be going back.

This being our first visit to this site we thought that the pitches was of good size and reasonably flat the facilities was very good but I think its wrong for us to pay to use the pool @ £1.50 per person for an hour. The shower block and toilets was of reasonable standard but was only one shower block for the whole site. The prices of drinks in the bar were expensive but then again they got to make a profit. The entertainment was of high standards and the kids club was excellent. The take away was ok but service seems very slow .The site had excellent security through the day and night and was on hand to remove anyone that was causing a nuisance.
The park is located very close to the beach for surfing and also the walks around the hills and rocks was spectacular .
Overall it was a good site with friendly people and staff we will definitely return in the future

We visited the site in August 2008 and August 2007, We couldn't have two more different stays due to the weather conditions. August 2008 was abysmal but 2007 was perfect. What you can't take away from Ruda is that no matter what the weather - the site and location is fantastic! We're booked to go back this august and I cannot wait!
Toilet Blocks - two lots to choose from, plenty of toilets, showers etc, always kept clean and well stocked of loo roll!
Shops on site - could be a bit pricey but saved you having to drive anywhere. The pub on site did good meals and its only a short walk into Croyde which for a small village has plenty of eating places - but be warned - if its high season - book first!
Location - second to none, to sit and have breakfast with the view is excellent!
Good play area for older children and nice indoor play area for the little ones.
Pricey - yes but you get what you pay for. Only downside was having to pay to use the pool - but the kids love it as it has a big water slides and rapids to swim in.

Large site with good facilities, unfortunately not always run very effectively. Not sure whether it was just me but nothing seemed to work very well! I don't mean functionality, I mean service!
The costa coffee shop took forever to get served. If waiting for just a coffee, we seemed to have to wait for other peoples breakfasts to be sorted. On one occasion I stood for 10 mins without moving before I gave up!
Also queueing for food in the main bar took ages too. The service staff are very slow!
Good cooked food though.
The Cascada pool was good but had to queue for 30 mins to get in.
The toilets and showers were minging though. It seems that any part of the day they were dirty. And there seems only 1 block for the entire campsite??
This could be a much better site than it currently is. Sorry but I don't want to queue for ages when on holiday - I'd rather be out and about doing things.
For a 4 star campsite, I've been to much better for less money!

Well back again as predicted following our muddy stay last year. This time we stayed in our caravan on Croyde Burrows where the pitches are much bigger. Its a bit further from the amenities which wasn't an issue as the main attraction is the beach. The toilet block was well maintained & spruced up several times a day. Croyde itself is a pretty village with some good eateries covering most requirements & budgets, Squires Fish & chip restaurant in nearby Braunton was excellent along as you were prepared to queue

This is a very large campsite, where statics abound, that has all the facilities under the sun and would be perfect for a full on family holiday. There are slot machines, an on site pool, bar, large shop, surf shop and more slot machines.
The camping area is fortunately away from the facilities and so if you prefer your camping a little less gaudy, you can avoid the arcades and cheesy entertainment and this is a very pleasant site, with views across the beautiful Croyde beach, bay and surrounding hills.
Toilets and showers were first class, the pitches were big, word of warning however, although they allow up to eight people on one pitch, they all have to be in the same tent/campervan.
There were three of us and we could not all fit in the same unit so ended up having to pay for two pitches that were away from each other, members of staff, while not rude, were unfortunately obviously well disciplined and could under no circumstances be reasoned with. Ultimately, one person slept in one very small tent on a massive pitch and paid £21 a night for the priviledge.
The more one looked around the site, the more you realised that making as much money out of their guests was the aim and no budging from this stance was likely. The security staff who are ever present don't seem too concerned about what people are getting up to, just that they have paid their way and are not outstaying their welcome.
Returning to the positives, Croyde village is a lovely place, with a couple of very nice pubs, although for proper grocery shopping you need to drive to Braunton about 10 mins away.
To sum up, good site positioned in a lovely village with maximum facilities, just be prepared to pay for it.

Spent a windy Easter weekend camping at Ruda Holiday Park but found the facilities excellent. On our arrival one of the camping toilet blocks was under repair but opened the next day. They had just been refurbished and were of an excellent standard. The washing up area has plenty of sinks and hot water. The camp pitches slope slightly but are very roomy and large with marked out spots and numbered.
Childrens facilities are great with a good size pool with waterslide. The pool area operates on a timed system with one hour slots costing 1.50 Adult. This means that the pool is busy but not overcrowded. They also have a wooden playground and an indoor soft play area for the little ones.
Short walk to beach with lots of lovely soft yellow sand and lifeguards. A lot of surf shops around the area.
The nearby village is a small quiet place with only a few eating options but pretty looking.
Overall we had bad weather but the park was outstanding and would use again.

Excellent location close to the beach. Lovely walks nearby and only a short walk to the village with it's shops and pubs for eating /drinking out.
On site entertainment was excellent too, and the entertainments block was very bright and modern.
When we arrived there had been a bout of wet weather and many pitches were covered in straw. We were lucky and had a sand covered reasonably dry pitch. Others were not so lucky and the smell of rotting straw/grass was prevalent at some times during the day. But as you'll probably be down at the excellent beach, it shouldn't really bother you.
Shower block needs updating. Toilet and shower doors without locks that worked were a nuisance. Washing up facilites were adequate, though not all sinks had plugs and they were right next to the chemical toilet disposal.
Our friends stayed at the Tourer Caravan area elsewhere on site and their toilets etc were excellent. Why not the same for the Tent campers? I understand from friends that the site has had a lot of money spent on it refurbishing the different areas over the last two years, so hopefully the Campers section is on the 'to do' list.
We'd go again if they improved the campers toilet blocks but otherwise will look elsewhere for 2008.

Went to stay here for the first time and I can recommend it. It was ready for closing for the season but the entertainment in the club was as good as it gets. The supermarket was stocked with the things you needed but it was running low.
The swimming pool which is called 'Cascades' is brilliant though I can imagine it gets very busy in the summer months.
We stayed on Croyde Burrows which was very nice, the toilet block were modern and the showers were nice and warm and powerful. There were only 6 so I can imagine there would be a queue in the summer. There is childrens play area which is nice for the little ones, there is a picnic area at the side so you could have a nice picnic as well.
The beach is fantastic. Nice soft sand and big waves for the surfing. There is plenty of rock pools to look for crabs. There is toilets & showers on the beach which were nice and clean.
Overall I would visit here again. 9 out of 10
