6th June 2004 Took a week camping in a tent good first impression, large pitch, well looked after but the showers were a let down as they needed a good clean, they were warm all the time though, also the toilets looked as if they had not been cleaned for a week. The club was immaculate and if the outside toilets were as good as the ones in the club the site would be A1. Good enterainment and good food although price.

April 2004 A clean, wholesome and friendly family resort. Although enough fun as a young ish couple. A bit of noise late at night but nothing that wouldn't make you chuckle. Excellent ablution factilities and the shower plunge buttons stay on for quite a while and they get warm quickly. Croyde is as good as I remember it as a child and the campsite club is very good at what it does too. The only draw back was the farm in the top left hand corner of the site, which was loud day and most of the night. Other than that it is great.

April 2004 We have been visiting Ruda for 12 years and have enjoyed every visit. This time we stayed in a caravan, most of which have been replaced since the new owners have taken over, ours was spotless. we have recommended this site to a number of friends all of which have had a great time and return at least twice a year either camping or in a caravan. The facilities have all been updated recently with the exception of the pool, which is still clean and good fun for children. My boys ages 10 and 12 love everything about Ruda, this year they tried surfing for the first time, all equipment can be hired on site easily. The village itself is lovely with a great play park tucked behind the main car park, fantastic ice creams and a great pub called the Thatch, make sure to book in holidays as it can get very busy in the restaurant.

Summer 2001 I visited this campsite in summer 2001 and have been longing to go back. It cost about £60 for a week, but we had a car so I'm not sure if that added to the cost. The staff seemed generally friendly enough, and the bathrooms/showers were very clean. The food however was horrible. You get a wonderful view of the sea, and it is only a short five minute walk through some sand dunes to the wonderful beach. The little village has a couple of pubs, a fantastic ice cream parlour, and a bakery which I bought my breakfast. Love to go back there and I recommend anyone wanting to go to Devon to stay in Croyde.

July 03 Good site in lovely area - close to beach - clean showers. Good facilities, although the play area is too far out of sight if you have younger children.
Pretty laid back site - be prepared for Guitar twanging and late night renditions of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang!!!!
Also traffic in and out of Braunton/Barnstaple horrendous at at time of day.

July 2002 Extremely large pitch, which was great, we had a good position, right next to the gap through towards the club. Not too far from the loos either, which were always clean when I went. Café very good value for money, & I saw staff eating there! Food served in the clubhouse place (not late), there was also a chippy, but that seemed to close rather early on certain days. Not good when leaving the club after a few beers starving! Overall, a nice site that we will probably be returning to at some stage.

March, July 02 If you sue this site wqatch your possessions. I have had something stolen everytime that I have visited it. Now under new owners - let's see what they mangage to do with it. Caff on site; interesting that the staff don't want to eat there. Small supermarket on site used to have absurd prices bu the have improved of late. Better do your shopping in Brian Fords in Barndstaple. Cascades pool is great fun. Have never used the Lodges on the old Croyde Bay site but they look very nice; far better than the caravans!

March 2003 A really good site well worth visiting as first time campers we were really impressed. We had a good pitch near to the security guards shed and the ablutions block which were really clean and up to an excellent standard. The beach is wonderful for parents and kids alike all sand. Good entertainment all round and very friendly staff. Croyde village is also a very pretty village to visit.

19-26 July 2002 A great location and some level pitches. The site is quite clean and the staff very friendly. However, I feel their web pages deceptive. The pool is good but not as large as the impression given. Security staff patrol regularly but did little to quieten our neighbour that decided to have a private party until 3 a.m.!!! I have been going to Ruda on average every 5 years since I was 4 years of age (now 47) so have seen it develope over a good period of time. I will not be back for at least 5 years now in the hope that it manages to go the extra yard that their claims warrant.
