We are fairly new to camping and trying out a new unit this summer. This is a lovely and well laid out site with electric that is new and easily available. Nice green areas for the kids and plenty of space. It wasn't crowded when we used it at the end of July. A lovely shower block with lots of extras and towels which was really nice.
The owners were friendly and had good advice. I have to say even as a beginner I was really impressed with this site and would recommend it to anyone wanting a lovely quiet site that is very safe for children. Cant find any faults the three shower rooms were fine on this small site and it is all spotless. I see it is a graded 3 star site and have to say its spot on. By the way there is a lot to see and do nearby and Newent is a little gem.

This site was very nice and the toilets and showers were nice and clean, although the family shower room needed a good clean and decorating. The site itself is very attractive with nice views and the surrounding area is beautiful with lots to do.
The one thing that let this site down was the way in which it was run. When we arrived our pitch was not ready and there was no sign of anyone around in the office or the nearby house where the owners live. Our allocated pitch had an empty caravan on it and when we finally got hold of the owner on the phone we were asked to move it ourselves. The office remained empty all weekend. There was excessive noise from the tents next to us which we tolerated but when it was still going on at 1am we were nearing the end of our tether, especially as we have 2 very young children who needed their sleep. There was at no time any sign of the owners patrolling the site

We visited the site for the May bank holiday weekend and found it to be very well maintained with good toilet / shower facilities and the kitchen complete with microwave and convection oven very useful. We stayed in the family field where the pitches were well maintained and a good sized green area left clear for the kids to play. On the whole the site was very good and the atmosphere relaxed and peaceful. Would definitely recommend it and revisit ourselves.

No other tourers on site during our stay (mid week) and only one other caravan occupied which was a seasonal pitch. Very surprised at the amount of traffic movement throughout the day and even in the early hours woken at 2.30am by a car leaving the area.
Grounds were immaculately kept but with a basic layout. Toilet facilities had some nice touches with toiletry accessories and were clean. Only 2 toilets and 1 shower. It was seriously let down on cleanliness in the kitchen having the cat feeding bowl complete with half eaten meal sitting on top of the microwave. A further feeding bowl soaking in the sink in cold water with cat food debris along with a drinking glass added to the hygiene nightmare!
Newent town centre was very close by and had everything you could need for supplies and well worth a visit.
I thought £20 a night was a little expensive considering the few facilities, but we were able to arrive and leave at our convenience which was appreciated and made up for the fee.
If touring the area be prepared with goods maps and don't rely on sign posts as they are seriously lacking in places particularly on the single track roads.

Stayed for Easter weekend with friends, both with kids aged 10 to 15 and 2 puppies, enjoyed our visit very much. The site has a slight French feel to it and as it is such a small site it also makes for a very friendly site. The caravans are around the outside edge in the family avenues and the kids along with a few dads all got together in the middle for rugby.
There are lots of little touches on this site including supplying chimineas which we all used at night after the kids all collected wood from the lane behind the site which is great for dog walks. There are only 2 loos and 1 shower, but this does not cause a problem as a lot of people use their own in their caravans anyway and the loos are like stepping into someone's bathroom, very clean with products supplied, lovely touch. There is also a kitchen with microwaves, fridge freezer, washing and ironing facilities and hoover.
Great site, we were very lucky with the weather but if not there is plenty to do around the Forest with kids and dogs as long as you enjoy walking! Definitely visit again and again. Gail, the lady who runs and owns the site is very helpful and happy to stop and chat.

A group of us, 2 caravans and one tent stayed here August Bank Holiday weekend. Site was not overcrowded, we were on the family field. Showers& loos clean, although not enough for the size of the site. Toiletries and towels looked lovely. Lovely area, plenty of places to walk, May Hill certainly worth a visit.
Newent Town has some lovely shops and our Granddaughter had a good time at Shambles Museum.

Spent a weekend at this campsite in the family field as we went with friends who had children. There are some lovely touches such as the chimeneas dotted around the site. The toilets were also impressive and kept clean.
We did find that the site was a little small, with no shop, (although Newent is fairly close) We were lucky that due to the weather the site was quiet and this meant there were no queues at the toilet as there is only one shower available in the male and female toilets.
Our main gripe was the price - £16 per unit per night and not even peak season. We were also charged £4 per night for a gazebo.
The adult only field may be an attraction for some, but I doubt we will return.

So lets look at the not so good bits.
The family room facilities doubles as the disabled room but is open to all. The shower does need a small grab rail fitted for those with lesser abilities.
There should be more policing of the site by the campsite owners. There was a lot of late night noise from small parties which woke a few young children.
The corners are very tight for the bigger caravans 26ft+.
Dont take late night showers I made the mistake of going at 2330 and wished I hadnt, cold shower not good for me ! although I went earlier the following night they were fine.
Anyway enough of that good stuff now.
The campsite owners have taken some amazing lengths for the people who come here. The facilities in the family room at without a doubt quite stunning. Apart from our opinion above the family room has to be seen to be believed. It is quite brillant.
The remainder of the facilities have got it all. Clean tidy and extremely well cared for and the owners have gone as far as to provide basin towels with hand wash, hand lotion even hair gel ! usual push button showers, clean and well flushing loos and warm.
I trust all those that use it wont abuse it.
The entrance to the place is tight but we managed to get around with a little breathing it ! ! !
On arrival you are booked in with the owners team and shown directly your pitch. They will assist they do ask if your require help.
The grass pitch we were on with our 4x4 and heavy twin axle didnt have any issues and they are well looked after and are well draining. There are a number of hardstandings as well.
The areas of the campsite are split into two areas one family, one adult only.
The whole facilities has a touch of French about it with its tables and chairs, seating facilities wall signs etc.
The EHU were modern looking and well positioned. They keep both tenters and caravans mixed on the family field and it works well.
The owners and warden were very friendly very helpful and seem to care about what they are doing and who they are doing it for.
Summary: Elizabeth and I disagreed on one thing. I felt it was just to rural for us considering what is on offer in nearby Newent but she felt it was ok. You can make your own minds up when you have booked. Be assured we will book into here again. This is a campsite which offers stunning facilities with everything you could ask for on a campsite. We will be going back later on in the year and look forward to meeting up with you then.
Well done to the owners of this site.

We visit the site every year and came down this time to coincide with the Onion Fayre, a local street fayre where alcohol, cheese, local produces and onions are abundant. Great time for everyone. Again spotless toilets and double showers and no great wait as there are three shower rooms. The site has a good balance of caravans and tents. A lot of extras always provided and clean towels always around. The owners Pete and Gail pay attention to detail from secure waste sites, water supply and lots of chimneas and little bbqs. They had a little pet duck wandering all over the site and it joined us for breakfast several times. Newent is a fantastic little market town with several good supermarkets. We like it as it is close to the Forest of Dean, the three choirs vineyard and some fantastic pubs for eating in.
Thanks again. See you next year.

We visited this site on the August Bank holiday weekend, expecting it to be busy. It was! The camp site's own web site says they are small and selective, with 20 pitches. There were many more units than that. Having said it was busy, it was quiet at night, with a large number of caravans seeming to be there on a seasonal pitch basis. The toilet facilities are spotless, but with only one shower and toilet for each gender (plus an additional family bathroom) it gets very busy. I was glad I took the washing up bowl also, as only one washing up sink for whole site.We were in a large tent and had paid extra because of this, we also pitched (at the owners request) across 2 pitches to allow for grass to recover. This meant we had space to park the car and to sit out at night. However, others were not so lucky and the site did have a car park feel to it at times. We stayed on after the weekend and the site was pretty much empty, but because pitches seem to be poorly marked and allocated on a pretty relaxed basis, we nearly ended up with an other tent with us on our pitch. There is no 6 meter rule applied here. Also not an ideal site for young children, as no play area. The owners say that children can play in the middle of the family field, but we found that in practice, this doesn't work. We had a complaint about my 5 year old crying (for 10 minutes) at 11 o'clock in the morning. The site itself is ideally placed for visiting the Forest of Dean. The Shambles museum in Newent is also worth a visit.
