Visited this site in wonderful location next to English vineyard. Toilets and showers were exceptional. Lots of freebies but could of done with more loos and showers. The pitch was good but we wanted to stay four nights but on the third night were told that there wasn't enough room for us to stay! They have a lot of static vans which takes away some of the ambiance of a campsite and I think they cater for a lot of people who come to pick the grapes and fruit grown in the surrounding area. Lovely walks to Newent and surrounding area. No shop on site but Newent interesting town to wander round. I don't think we will return here but very pleasant for a few nights stay.

We just must compliment Peter and Gail on running such a wonderful site. OK so there is only one shower in each of the toilets, plus one in the family room, and there is a slight lack of privacy at the sinks, but camping does help one to cope with this sort of thing. These small items were totally outweighed by the fantastic friendly welcome, the provision of towels, soap, perfume, disposable razors (in the gents), make up removing pads(in the ladies), and all other manner of homely and personal items in the toilet blocks. Everything was free of charge, the washing machine has an honesty box (£2 per wash), and the disabled/family room had everything from a baby bath to a library (that is as well as a sink, toilet and shower), in short it was just like the bathroom at home. The whole place was like home. More than that, the campsite has fantastic drainage. The tail end of our week saw the worst floods in many years, with all of Gloucester, Tewksbury etc. Under water. Many campsites were flooded, and we expected our tent to float away as the rain continued to hammer down from 4am on Friday, right through the day and into that night. The surrounding roads were flooded, but our tent was fine, no soggy mud underfoot, no need to bail out, despite us being at the bottom of the field.

This site is popular. It has a great immediate surroundings as Newent is only a mile away and is a lovely town containing a rather groovy Caribbean restaurant and plenty of other suitable places to eat out. If you prefer to eat in it has two good butchers and grocers as well as a nice deli. For wine lovers one of England's best vineyards Three Choirs is only 3 miles away and another local vineyard Strawberry Hill offers excellent wines that can be purchased on site. Three Choirs has an fantastic (we went) but pretty upmarket restaurant that you will probably need to book in advance. The campsite facilities are high on quality but low on quantity. The site was not full when we visited so we were o k, but I would not want a long stay when it is full, as there is only one sink for washing up for the entire site and we often waited to wash up when the site was half empty. The site has separate adult and family fields which is a very good idea, however the marked pitches are the smallest I have seen. We had the luxury of parking our car on the empty pitch next door. I struggle to figure where I would have parked it if the site was full. I would go back to Pelerine as it is a very friendly site in a great location but I would consider carefully when to go. Best in low season I think.

Back again to Pelerine. A fantastic and well laid out site and a warm welcome from the helpful owners Gail and Pete. The toilets were as always spotless and towels and shampoo etc provided in abundance. Grass and hard standings all well maintained again as always. They told us some customers from Worcester had recently left and stolen property from the site so they were re thinking about leaving out free articles.thankfully they know that most caravaners and campers are honest and respect-full.we love the site as its quiet and safe. See you next year. Well done.

Pelerine is a clean and well kept site situated just a short drive from Newent. It is well placed for visits to the Forest of Dean and Wye Valley. The pitches are level and are divided into adult only and family areas, most have electric hook up and hardstanding pitches are also available.
There is no shop on site but, with plenty in Newent this isn't a problem. The shower block is clean and modern featuring in ladies and gents 2 toilets, 2 washbasins and 1 shower of a good size (free hot water). A family room contains baby changing plus an extra toilet, shower and wash basin. You will also find a whole host of lotions, potions and sprays for your use as well as towels! There is also one washing up basin, washing machine (paid for via an honesty box), microwave, kettle, coffeemaker, freezer for ice packs, tea, coffee, cups, tea towels etc etc! However no tumble drier is provided.
This sounds like the perfect campsite unfortunately however it wasn't. The owners seemed friendly enough, but the office was frequently shut and on Sunday they were completely absent all day with no obvious means of being able to contact them. The pitch numbering is confusing - we were plot 10 next to 14 which later changed to 14b and then 11. There didn't seem to be enough showers washbasins or washing up points and queueing was a necessity. The doors to the ladies and gents open onto the washbasins giving no privacy from passers by. Some other campers seemed to be blissfully unaware of any need for quite in the evenings or early mornings. This was made worse by the biggest problem of the site which was that we were just too squashed in. Our guy ropes were positioned just a couple of inches from next doors. Cars were parked in front of their tents and even in front of other tents giving the feeling that you were sat in a carpark.

What can we say that hasn't already been said! This site is excellent for adults and children alike. Very spacious and flat pitches. The showers are fantastic, no squeezing into a tiny cubicle here, although there is only one shower and two toilets in both Ladies and Gents we never had to queue to use them, also plenty of toiletries and towels for your use, they were always nice and clean. Excellent kitchen for campers to use including fridge, freezer, kettle, microwave, iron etc. Newent itself is lovely, there is a nice walk around the lake and plenty of benches to sit and enjoy the peace and quiet.A visit to the vine yard is a must, purchase a nice bottle of wine to sit outside your caravan or tent with and enjoy the relaxing atmosphere that the Pelerine offers. We highly recommend this site.

Our first camping trip! but we needn't have worried, we couldnt have chosen a better campsite. From the friendly and helpful owners and the lovely laidback feeling to the site, everything about our experience was perfect from start to finish.
The bathroom facilities where brilliant (just as I'd read about on this site), spotlessly clean at all times and never the need to queue for the use of the loo or the shower (lovely hot water!towels, toiletries and even reading material!) Great kitchen available to all too, with fridge, freezer, iron, kettle and microwave and, for a small charge even a washing machine!
Our pitches where really big, we were in the family field and there was a big green in front of us where my son, nephew and niece played to their hearts content while we enjoyed a nice glass of wine.
Loads to do nearby -a perfect position for exploring the Cotswolds, Cheltenham, Forest of Dean and Gloucester. Newent is just up the road and there are some really nice little shops, pubs takeaways etc,we went to an amazing carribean restaurant,"marinades" here on saturday night, the food was out of this world and I would recommend it to everyone!
The final word goes to my seven year old son, and his review reads as follows! "I loved this site, the owners were nice and kind and I liked the comfy chair in the bathroom!"
We will definitely be returning to this site again! Top marks!

Having read the reviews of previous visitors we were not worried. The site lived up to our expectations. The toilet block is great for people using tents and I guess also for caravans. Where else would you get towels and toiletries in the shower block. The gents only had one shower (large) but that was never a problem.some people sleep in far toooooo long! The site was well maintained and the owners were more than helpful. We stayed in the "adults only" side of the site which was brilliant. Our only criticism would be that, as we took a dog, some others left their dogs off the lead and this caused us some problems. This seemed to be those with caravan bookings for the season. Everyone else adhered to the rules, impeccably so, even to the point of taking cages. We highly recommend the site.

A very friendly welcome and beautiful location. Close to Ross-on-Wye for a wonderful day out. Also neighbours to a vineyard!
Wonderful flat roomy pitches and reliable electrical hook-up with a generous 16amps.
The bathroom facilities were first class, warm, very clean and spare toiletries for your use! There were even spare towels.
If you wish to use the washing machine you just pop £1 in teh tardis money box and off you go!
For a small site, it has the bonus of a 'family bathroom', which is a must with toddlers!
Brick were also available free of charge for you to raise cookers or BBQs.
Highly recommended.
