Have visited this site quite a few times as it is in an ideal spot for the town and has a nice pub just across the road.
This is a pleasant site albeit there are not a lot of hard standings and you may find yourself on a very slopey stand, so take your balancers. Word of warning though to motorhome owners, always phone if there has been a lot of rain, otherwise you`ll find yourself squashed in a very small concrete car park, which in my opinion I`d rather go home than stay there! We nearly got caught out once but the Ruth the owner was good enough to let us onto the grass as our motorhome was staying put and not going out and in of the park.
I do feel if this is a problem, some money should be invested in making more hard standings and not expecting your arrivals to be packed like sardines into a very small car park.
The site itself is in need of some tlc though it has to be said, the shower rooms are cold and not that clean, just seems no one can be bothered, such a shame because this is situated fantastically well, so I guess you just have to weigh up whats important to you. I love it because of where it is and it`s adults only.

This is probably our tenth year at Riverside and we have never had a bad experience yet. The site is tidy, quiet, peaceful and a few minutes walk from the town which has every facility you could want on a touring holiday. The views from the site can only be described as stunning. The nearest bus stop is 10 minutes walk away and services Brecon as well as Abergavenny. The toilet and shower facilities are adequate if not luxurious but hey, at the very modest pich fee of £16. 00 a night, including hook up, well up to expected standard. I have seen sites in the Westcountry charging up to £30 a night for similar facilities. Well done Mrs Price is what I say! The local pubs charge a fair price for their ale, and the Bear Hotel, 10 minutes walk away, puts on a splendid menu for very reasonable cost. There aren't that many adult only sites this close to a town so if that is your requirement, you would do very well to give Riverside a go. See you next year, Mrs Price.

This is a good site on the very edge of a nice little market town. You are 5 minutes from pubs and restaurants in Crickhowell.
The camping field is perfectly flat. When I went there were just 3 tents so can't comment on previous reviews saying it can get crowded.
£10ppn is on the high side but being so close to a lovely town and all it offers is a major plus.
50p extra for a shower albeit a very long one - not convinced the timing clocks work so try turning the show on before parting with your money.

We stayed at this site for 4 nights and enjoyed the setting, view and peace and quiet - due to it being an adults only site.
Although this is a site that mainly caters for caravans and motor homes, we had a good pitch within a short distance of water, toilets and showers.
Our only criticism were that the pitches were very close together. The showers and toilets were always clean and there were loads of them, therefore no queues.
We liked the location as this meant we could take a 5 minute stroll to one of at least 5 pubs in the village in the evening, pop up to the local shop and bakery in the morning and begin several walks without using the car.
We would definitely return and felt that £12 a night was good value for money.

We arrived at 3:30. we didn't have a booking which didn't appear to be a problem, however we were then met by what can only be described as hostility and questioned as to how many, were we over 18, and then asked the same questions again!
We were thinking of staying for two nights but the attitude made us decide to only stay one night, I even thought about walking away and not staying at all. We were overcharged compared to the published prices.
Showers were extra on top of being overcharged.
Would we go back again - no not if it was the only site in wales, they need to learn that politeness does not cost anything.
I would rather pay more and at least be treated reasonably.

After 3 nights wild camping in the Brecons, my husband and I stayed - unplanned - for a night in Riverside Caravan Park.
We had a 2-man tent and were the only ones tenting it on this April night!
We thought this was the best campsite we had ever stayed in. The facilities were so good - there was even a gas barbeque and a gas ring to use free of charge.
Showers and toilets were excellent. We revelled in the luxury after the very basic previous 3 days.
We will definitely go back and make this a base for walking round the area.

This camp site in in a very good location close to the town centre and is well kept. Unlike European sites where there is usually a hedging around each plot, Riverside is like many UK caravan sites - it provides little privacy with caravans etc. Lined up in rows and quite close together.
To us, the site was not particularly welcoming. One is greeted with prominent 'do not' notices and I thought the lady on reception was brusque and not very polite.
The showers facilities were, in my opinion, poor. I wondered really if the owners had ever tried to shower in them themselves! The cubicles were tiny making changing and drying off difficult. Apart from a few hooks, there was nowhere to put clothes and nowhere to sit to, eg, dry one's feet. As a result clothes got wet. The 50p per shower is a bit antiquated.
Credit cards etc. Are not accepted and this was a nuisance - and, again, old fashioned.

We visited this site for two nights in July.
The site is well run and the toilet and shower block is clean. It is a lovely location, just a short walk to Crickhowell which is a lovely place to visit. There are lovely river, canal and mountain walks.
The owner is pleasant enough but doesn't engage in small talk.
The only thing we didn't like about this site is how close together the pitches are. They are far closer than we are happy with. It was all very regimented.
We would return to the site though, purely because of the location.

Riverside is a very well maintained site, there's a free gas bbq under cover with chairs & table, the cleanest toilets & showers & the most breath taking views all around you.
Yes the showers are 50p a go but that will last you for the shower. For £15 a night for 2 adults with a motorhome & electric hook-up its great value, so we didn't mind.
Ruth the owner is a fine (says it how it is, no messing. )
But doesn't answer the phone much even when shes in the office which is a bit of a pain because its a loud ring around the site.
The short 10 minute walk to Crickhowell centre where you will find a shops & pubs,
We found the Bear hotel expensive & small potions for food but the place was beautiful inside & well worth having a drink in. We liked the Bridge end pub which is just outside the site, turn right. Its a very friendly place with excellent food & oldy worldy inside, go into there private garden where you can sit by the river.
The Vine pub over the bridge & has a massive menu with some excellent dishes (you will be spoilt for choice)
We went for a lovely bike ride along the cannel, you come out of the site go over bridge, turn left then turn right at the Vine pub, keep going & you cant miss. Its a easy flat bike ride.
Riverside is a brilliant place to chill with excellent walks on your door step.

This was a lovely site set within minutes walk of the centre of Crickhowell. There were two fields to this site with the toilet/shower block within easy reach of both.
One field was for tents/small campers or motorhomes whilst caravans / larger motorhomes could be accommodated on the other. We were kindly given a choice of pitch, however, great views could be had wherever you were.
The facilities were spotless and if we had to say something constructive it would be that they were a bit dated and the showers a bit restricting. We also agree with previous reviews that having to find 50p for each shower was just a nuisance and we would rather have paid more per night with showers included.
For dog friendly places to eat we would recommend the Bear Hotel and the Vine Tree (just over the bridge) with its generous portions!
As the weather was kind to us we tackled Table Mountain - this was a moderate 3hour walk with some steep parts but was well worth the views when you got to the top.
The Britannia Inn was dog friendly as was the Dragon Inn and the Bridge Inn. Although the Dragon was restrictive to either a small room off the main bar area or outside, whilst the Bridge was limited to the 'cosy' bar area.
Overall a good site which we will revisit.
