We spent 4 nights here the week after Easter.
This site is in an awesome location, it looks over a lovely valley which we saw wild Exmoor ponies on one side and Red Deer on the other. It is only 12 miles to Minehead and is within reach of the whole of Exmoor.
The pitch was a bit lumpy and bumpy for a tent with hook-up, but it is early in the season so has had little wear yet. Pitches are generous in size.
If the site was full I think it would be difficult for the showers to cope, there is only 2 showers for men and 2 for women. Facilities were really clean and there was a free hair dryer, nice touch.
We would stay on this site again

This is the second time I've stayed on this somewhat remote site (which I like). The facilities are perfectly adequate - if you're expecting luxury, stay on a 'plastic' site(even on a bank holiday weekend) and spotlessly clean. There are no set pitches and whilst your tent is a bit on a slope, that's not a problem.
I will certainly be back. Fantastic walks from the site itself and also short drives away.

A good little campsite with basic facilities, showers and toilettes which were kept clean and tidy with plenty of hot water. A children's play area which was well maintained kept the kids occupied. Dogs are allowed at this site. The top end of the site is slightly sloping so if you book bear this in mind. Best of all about this site it was in a great area with some brilliant walks in the exmoor area.

Just returned from a very nice Easter break staying at Halse Farm. We found the site to be very good and well maintained. Free hot water for washing up and showers (which these days is unusual) and piping hot. The washing block was always clean (females: 3 loos; 2 showers; basins). Great views from the site. The pitches are on a slight slope, but not enough to be a problem. Very good location for numerous circular walks. At £12 a night (no increase for the bank holiday period, which again is unusual) a bargain. Very good 'information' room, full of leaflets to give you ideas if needed plus a pay phone (no mobile signal on the site). If feeling lazy, there is a pub and Bridge Cafe just down in Winsford. I can recommend this site.

Lovely area. Great to amble over the moors.
Found a great pub down at Bridgetown that took dogs in the bar (where you could eat- great food at reasonable whack)- and good with the kids too - lots of puzzles and stuff to entertain them.
Tarr Steps is a lovely little walk - mighty pretty -a must. Try the walk from there down to Dulverton.
Then try Woods. Nice grub but toppy.
Definitely go back. Book the Sun first!

Got back today from this lovely site could complain about the weather but not the sites fault. I must of been there same time as Gleneagles as the two tents next to us had two dogs which whined and barked which upset our dog but were quiet by bedtime. It was lovely being able to see wild ponies on the opposite mountain it was lovely going on walks on the moor and seeing the wildlife saw some deer and more ponies.
The facilities were good nice hot showers to be had and the little room with all information of the area and phone was handy as their is no mobile signal whatsoever in the area. Our tent broke on the second day there due to high winds but was nothing we couldn't deal with and it was lovely of the farmer to come and see if we were ok. The field did get water logged and very muddy [don't ever want to see mud again]but that's the weather.
Big Sheep has a big thumbs up rain or shine.
Maps are available from the farm house for a £1 of the moor which we tried and the dog loved

I visited the site during wet and windy weather which never makes you feel particularly warm towards the place.
The grass certainly could have survived a cut especially as it was wet and footwear quickly got soaked, saying that maybe the wet weather was the reason it wasn't cut.
All the pitches are on a slope but nothing you cant contend with.
I found the shower/wash/toilet areas to be basic but very clean. The showers work and were hot, although could do with a bit of modernisation.
My welcome was friendly and helpful no complaints there.
Again probably a by product of the horrible weather was the campers dogs were all being kept in, so barking was apparent but quietened down completely by bed time.
Handy room with phone and leaflets and didnt use the laundry facilities so unable to comment
On a nice day, it would be a site I would consider re-using

I am somewhat at a loss reading the other reviews about this site.
The facilities are far from modern, clean or quality. The showers have no temperature control. You share your shower water with the next shower due to the way the floor and drain are arranged and if you are in the toilet when someone is in the shower make sure your trousers are not touching the floor, wet wet wet.
During our stay the site was descended upon, on a regular basis, by groups of youths doing their duke of edinburgh awards, they were noisy, inconsiderate and took over and made a complete mess of the wash rooms, when these groups were not there the site was fairly peaceful.
The owners old dog would wander the site lifting its leg to do is business on the corner of caravans, awnings and even the fresh water supply.
During our stay we never once saw the grass being cut and it did not appear to me to have been cut for at least a couple of weeks before our arrival.
I cannot understand how this site has any awards. Very disappointing, would never return.

Just before a friend and I were going back to university we decided to go camping. We wanted to get away from the ‘hussle and bussell’ of life, towns and cars etc and this campsite was PERFECT! It was so quiet and simple, amazing views and walks, the facilities were good and clean but I can imagine they get quite busy and crowded during peak season. There’s a nice little room with a payphone and local brochures and walking guides, which was nice plus there’s a little self service laundry room – bring some change! The campsite is very high up and isolated but little villages surround it so it wouldn’t be to hard to find a little shop and we passed a few pubs on the way up. By my advice is to stock up on all the necessities before you go!

Stayed during last week in August including the bank holiday, facilities were kept clean and the campsite was quiet. Had a great time. Friendly campsite. Good walks from the campsite. Good pub in village. Only complaint was that the rules about dogs being kept on leads was not obeyed by everyone or enforced by the campsite owners, dogs were frequently exercised on the campsite fields and near the childrens play ground.
