Very pleasant site in a beautiful location, site was extremely clean and toilet and shower block was well beyond expectations. As mentioned in previous reviews there is a slight slope but this presented no problem for our Conway trailer tent. Nice area for quiet walks with Tarr Steps being 2.5miles away, or if you want a bit of fun for the kids and activity, Butlins at Minehead is well worth a day ticket, cost £42.00 for 6 of us. Tesco's and Minehead is approx 30mins drive, village shop/Post office was a pleasant surprise selling a lot more than basic's! Would definitely reccommend Pate's and local cheese's! All in all we had a wonderful time and would return without hesitation, but visitors must understand that this is a quiet site, after 10pm it is earily quiet!

Stayed here for 2 nights in a tent. There was only 1 caravan on site with me so it was lovely and peaceful. EHU ran a 2Kw heater and light no problem at all. No marked pitches as such, but EHU hookups are 2 per pole and they are quite a way apart so that should keep pitches nice and large. The site is quite exposed though and the weekend brought high winds; even pitching in a corner with hedges on 2 sides the wind was violent. Site in general was well presented, grass was cut and the whole site is on a gradual up and down slope, nothing major though. Toilets were very clean, but then it was the first day the site was open, so can't speak to what they would be like when busy. Showers were ok, nothing spectacular, but hot and functional. 2x washing up points and a laundry room with washing machine and £1 per use tumble dryer. There is also a pay phone which is required as there is absolutely no and I mean no mobile phone signal anywhere near Exmoor. No traffic noise or surrounding noise whatsoever, and apart from the wind my stay was quite relaxing. Bear in mind this is Exmoor and you'll have to drive out for 30 minutes or so if you want a Tesco or a cash machine or the like.

This was the second time I have camped at this campsite. The first time well over 13 years ago and the facilities haven't changed since then. The campsite has lovely views into the valley. Peaceful and very relaxing. The weather while there was very wet and stormy but we still had a great time. The site is little more than a field with a block of toilets / shower / laundry and a small play area for children. Our children loved making new friends there. If you are a walker or mountain biker this is a terrific spot with immediate moor access outside the main gates. We had sunday lunch in the New Inn @ Winsford which was beautiful, local produce including Exmoor Beef @ £8.95 per head. We booked table before the trip. Only 2 showers in toilets and 2 pot wash sinks but everyone was so chilled while waiting it didn't matter. Fantastic wet trip - great camping!

It's all been said before, so I just wanted to say it's all still true. We arrived unexpectedly (no mobile reception anywhere near) and camped in lonely splendor with late-March snow falling. The facilities were open, immaculate, and heated; a walk straight from the site memorable, just one of many chosen at random. We can hardly wait to go back.

This is a fantastic site, I've been many times, from spring thro to autumn, for a few years now. It is really peaceful and neatly kept, with clean, hot free showers. It's on a working farm, only noise is sheep baaaing, I've never had any problem with humans being noisy/antisocial here. It has the perfect position of being high up on the side of the moor so that you have that feeling of tranquility & space, and the views, and yet it is sheltered well by the moor above and its ancient hedges! There is no need to use the car here if you're a walker, there are SO many walks. And a fantastic pub at the bottom of the hill, bit of a hike a mile back up steep hill, but well worth it to inbibe the cider & beer!
One of the best sites I've ever been on.

Extremely nice site on a working farm, with lovely views and lots of wildlife. Pitches can slope a little, but are unmarked with plenty of space for all. The moor is on the edge of the site with lots of walking and a very pleasant pub (good food) a mile away in Winsford. Small children's adventure playground, clean facilities albeit only 2 showers (can only speak for the ladies!). Lots of information available. Highly recommended, will return.

June 2004 Halse Farm site lies in a sleepy vale just off the wild side of Exmoor and is within ten minutes (downhill!) walk from Winsford - one of the most unspoilt and picturesque villages in the area. Winsford boasts one of the best 'cream-tea' shops and an hotel with an excellent range of beers. The site is clean and superbly situated for walking to Tarr steps, the Devil's Punchbowl and for spotting animal life in the raw! The facilities are spotless and, although slightly inclined, the ground is as ideal for pitching a tent as it is for parking a van or motorhome. I have camped there many times and always found the reception and the facilities second-to-none!

August 2004 Quiet site in a lovely setting. Toilet facilities were good and kept clean. Quite awkward to get to. Very steep hill and winding single track road for access. We managed with our 6m unit but not for the inexperienced. Would definitely recommend for a 'away from it all' site. Although the site had limited facilities for children our kids enjoyed just exploring the local counryside. The only negative was the amount of dog fouling around the camp site including that from the camp owners dogs!. The toilets were cleaned well every day but did invole them being closed completely for the duration which did cause some inconvenience.

August 2002 We absolutely loved this site!
En route somewhere else, we spent a few days here having booked at the very last minute. The owner was really helpful and even suggested a pitch for us where the couple next to us had children of a similar age.
Very quiet. Slight slope, but that meant that we could see the childrens play area from outside our tent.
The size of the site, lack of 'amusements', and simple play area meant that the site was ideal for a family wanting to get away from it all with very little children.
Would definitely return.

July 2003 Halse Farm was just what we wanted, a lovely peaceful campsite. The views were outstanding and the facilities on the site were exceptionally clean. It poured with rain for the whole time we were there, but we didn't care, we had a great time anyway.
