We were welcomed by very friendly and helpful wardens and were directed to the tent area to find our own pitch, the site was busy so there was very little choice. None of the tent pitches are far from the excellent toilet/wash block. Nowhere is that far from the busy play area which was noisy, however everything was almost silent come the 1030 curfew time.
The site is 2 mins walk from the lovely town centre with several pubs and local shops, there is also a reasonably sized supermarket. A visit to Loch Muich is well worth the drive and there is a stunning walk round the loch.
We will definitely be visiting again.

This is a great caravan park. We have stayed here many times over the years and have great memories of our holidays. This was the first time we have visited since the council sold it off and I have to say we weren't disappointed. There is always a great atmosphere here. Wardens are very nice, toilets spotless and site fees were reasonable. Just a short walk to the baker and butcher etc. We will definitely be back next season :-)

Beautiful situation on banks of river. We were in camper van so had plenty of room in our pitch. However the tent area was very busy with very little room between tents.
Shower/toilet block very clean even though the site was full.
Great access to Ballater village. Can recommend Lochnagar Indian restaurant. Fantastic food.
Right next to riverside walk/cycle path. Also next to golf course & tennis courts, so plenty to do.
Brilliant location. Friendly people.

We have just returned from a 5 night break at this Ballater site.
I would agree with previous reviews, its a great little site.
Good sized fairly level pitches with 16 amp hook-up if required.
Wardens were seen cleaning the toilet block 3 - 4 times a day. There are about 6 shower cubicles and around 12 sinks in a centre area, also about 6 WC cubicles in both male and female.
Even when busy at the weekend we never needed to queue for a shower.
Water points are scattered around the site, excellent CDP is in a room at front of main toilet block and one grey water disposal point to the right of that.
Free wifi also included in the price.
It is a nice quiet site if that's what you like. There is a good sized playpark for children but no noise from early evening onwards.
The staff at the site are so friendly and helpful and help make this site what it is.
Excellent dog walks from both ends of the site.
The town is a short 5 minute walk away and has a good choice of places to eat/drink also a good Co-op supermarket.
There are also a few small town shops but not touristy tacky like some small towns I have visited.
I would recommend the Lochnagar Indian Restaurant just across from the Co-op, where we had a very good meal at a reasonable price.
This was our first visit to this site but it won't be long till our next.

Nice, peaceful site in a good location. Says it all really! The site is clean and tidy and well laid out. Pitches are pretty level, gravel hard standing for most of the EHUs with the odd grass ones thrown in for variety. In the centre of the camping area is a green area for tents. Several water points. Grey disposal point which can be also driven over with a motor home.
The toilet block also houses a pot washing area and chem toilet disposal point. The toilet block itself was kept very clean and provided good facilities. After two weeks of touring around using sites for only a couple of nights at a time to get a shower that I could actually set the temperature on and move the head around was absolute bliss! The toilet blocks are a little dated but there is a sign saying they are due for refurbishment and to be honest they are still pretty good as they are.
The site also offers free WiFi which is a bonus.
The site is at the Dee side and there are some very pleasant walks directly accessed from the site. The town offers good facilities with mini markets, butchers, bakers, coffee shops, pubs, take away, etc.
If you want a peaceful, quiet relaxing break in a great setting on a site that is kept very well, with great walks then this site could be for you. If you want on site clubs with loads of screaming kids then go elsewhere!

Just back from a 3 day visit and I can thoroughly recommend this site to anyone. It is quiet and everything is spotlessly clean. We were 2 adults and a dog and there was a superb walk alongside the river Dee and the Golf Course. We'll be back for sure.
Only gripe would be that the water point and grey water waste were all on the left of the motorhome due to the one way traffic system. Because all my fill/disposal points are on the right of my Motorhome it required a bit on manoeuvring to get it right. But that is a very minor issue and would not put me off this site ever.

Stayed here for four nights over Easter. Lovely site with excellent facilities. Toilet and shower block always spotless and heated and staff were friendly and helpful. The local town has some excellent shops and we were very impressed with the local bus service. We use buses quite a lot as our motorhome is too big to drive around and they have the most accurate bus timetable we have ever used. Well worth a visit as this site is well situated to visit Balmoral and Braemar.

We've just had our first motorhome holiday with our dogs in a hired van. Ballater was a perfect stop - quiet, spotlessly clean in all areas and best of all lovely hot showers. This community run site is a real credit to Ballater. Even the wind and rain couldn't spoil our night's sleep. The Glenaden Hotel's Barrel Bar was the venue for an excellent venison burger and they were very welcoming to our dogs as well. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend this site, plus the bonus of over 65s get a discount!

Great wee site in beautiful surroundings and one which we keep coming back to time and again. Now run by the community and better for it I would say. We had a lovely pitch in the far corner right next to the River Dee. Kids enjoyed the small playpark and the walks along by the river and along the old Deeside Railway line are great.
Ballater itself is lovely, lots of nice little shops and a great place to stroll around on a dry day.
Site is right on the outskirts of the village which means you don't need to use the car to get to the shops/pubs/restaurants or the great little fish and chip shop.
Toilet block a little dated but kept nice and clean. Looking forward to our next visit.

This is a great wee site on the banks of the Dee. Well located for the town and all it's facilities. Hard to fault the site, the surroundings are pretty spectacular and the town of Ballater is very well kept. ( It is Royal Deeside after all) A visit to Loch Muick is a must, you can even tackle Lochnagar if you are keen. In short, great site which is run by the community with profits fed back to upgrade the site, give it a go - you will be impressed.
Ps great chippy and the grub in the Alexandra Hotel is first class.
