A great site for our first visit to France, only just over 2hr drive from Calais, very straightforward and tolls were not too expensive.
The caravan we stayed in was clean and matched description in the brochure. All caravans are set in large hedged plots with enough room to park your car, table and chairs, loungers and space for the kids to kick a ball. Facilities on site are great for kids, and we saw lots of people fishing at the lakes. Was surprised at how quiet and peaceful the park was considering the number of caravans, obviously it was lively at the pool.
There is a large Cora supermarket in Soissons (for those with satnav the address is: 3 Avenue Raymonde Fiolet), Pierrrefonds is well worth a visit cost 14euros for 2 adults (kids go free), there is a lovely garden cafe on the walk up to the castle selling the most amazing ice creams!
Disney is just over an hour away and tbh unless your a real Disney buff, probably not worth it, we went on a relatively quiet weekday and managed at most 5 rides.
The reason for 9 out of 10 rating? You occasionally catch a whiff of the drains, not enough to put me off visiting again, in fact we are planning a return visit in 2012.

More of an update as the previous reviews have said it all already.
A great site, with lots to do and a superb pool complex - a normal pool, a wonderful, knee-deep toddler pool and a great 'gimmicky' pool (with waterfalls, jets to push you along channels etc). If the weather is dodgy, the first 2 pools can be covered over as well. Also a couple of water slides which are good fun.
The site is huge, so bikes are recommended just for getting from your pitch to the pools (you could be a 15 minute walk away). Every pitch is huge as well, with water and waste and enough space for van, awning, car and still some space left over! All have hedges on 3 sides, although ours were still not fully grown. However, I personally preferred it that way, as it made it easier for the satellite dish (had to watch the World Cup and Wimbledon) and also they didn't block out the sun (some of the more mature pitches are actually quite dark because the hedges are so tall).
Downsides? There are only 2 chemical toilet disposal points for the entire site, which can mean a long walk with a heavy toilet. Also, 80% of the guests are English - not a real problem but you sometimes forget you're in France. All the staff speak good English (some ARE English!) and all were very friendly.
Lots of food options; 2 proper restaurants, a cafe / take-away with the largest selection of ice-creams I've ever seen in one place, a small (but very expensive) supermarket and a bakery for fresh bread. Couple of other bar/coffee places as well - you won't go hungry/thirsty!
We were only there for 4 very hot days and I couldn't get the kids out of the pool, so we didn't see much of the area, although the local town was very quaint.
Overall, we had a wonderful, relaxing break and would highly recommend the site to anyone.

WARNING if your husband likes fishing and you want to see him on holiday-don't go here, if the opposite wonderful. The drive down from Calais very straight forward although we did get lost, but that's us! I booked this site before we got our touring caravan so was strange seeing everyone on their pitches with their home from home, ours was parked in UK in storage! The van we had with siblu fantastic air con like a mobile home. The site is large but beautifully kept, the lakes very pretty. Pitches on different areas of campsite, the ones near the lake have the best toilets and showers and are close by the pitches, we even took showers there on hot days, instead of going back to the van.Men and women are mixed which I'm not too sure about.
There is a lovely beach for children, although the life guard disappears as soon as September 1st comes even though the weather is hot! Wont mention fishing lakes much but must have been good! Restaurant didn't use, the take away chips were lovely! Fantastic restaurant in the next village a little tabac shop where they serve the most amazing food and just like allo allo, you have to go.
Drove to Euro Disney, and followed the campsite coach home-they run a bus but expensive for 4 of you. The best find was a little town called Pierrefonds about 15 minute drive away, where they film Merlin, it is a beautiful town with the magnificent chateau perched up on the hill, they were filming Merlin while we were there. It cost 7 euros each to go round - children free and we were there half the day, I would go back just to go there.
Good hyper markets in the area and a good supermarket in the town. I wasn't that impressed with the town, wish the campsite was at Pierefonds. Small town with a market once a week. I would go back, if there wasn't a fishing lake.

We have stayed at this site in Oct 06,July 07 and more recently Oct half term 09 ( each time with the Sun cheap holidays, twice with Eurocamp and this time with Siblu)
We love it,fab site for our 2 boys aged 13 and 7,safe and really clean etc.
We have only stayed in a static so far,but plan to camp next summer too.
We tend to mainly self cater as the on site restaurant not great apparently ( was mainly empty whenever we went past!)the take away is ok though.
Will be good to see what the new pool areas are like next yr,as they are planning a refurb.
We usually stay Mon - Fri with one day at Disneyland Paris. We also visited Pierrefonds castle this time too, which was good.

To find site- From N31, Compiegne / Soissons road turn left to Vic-sur-Aisne, follow signs to campsite. Some of the roads through the town are narrow so care is required. If approaching from Soissons an alternative route is via Fontenay from the N31, signed for campsite.
La Croix du Vieux Pont is a very large campsite situated to the north of Paris. It has in excess of 500 pitches of which 120 are touring pitches the rest being taken up with mainly static caravans belonging to various tour operators. It is more of a holiday centre than a conventional campsite with lots of facilities for children of all ages including boating and fishing lakes. The hedged touring pitches are really large with individual water and waste points. Electric points have six amp supply. The unisex toilet blocks are dotted around the site and are to a very good standard with seated toilets and paper is provided but on a large roll outside the cubicles. The large shower cubicles also contain a wash hand basin. Unfortunately the provision of chemical toilet emptying points is limited which means they are a long way from quite a few of the touring pitches. There is an on site shop and bakery, a good restaurant and a bar where WiFi is available. The campsite has an excellent swimming pool complex, part of which is under cover. During our stay in early September 2009 the site clientèle was predominantly British.
Although some 60 miles north of Euro Disney this does seem to be a popular destination from the campsite. The site also run excursions by coach into Paris. Nearer to the site the Chateau de Pierrefonds which is worth a visit and has recently been used to film the BBC series Merlin. For food shopping there is an Intermarche in Vic-sur-Aisne and larger supermarkets at Soissons.

As so much has already been written I'll just add that we thought this site was simply beautiful, massive pitches, pristine shower block, immaculate gardens with a lovely park at one end,fab swimming pools, friendly staff at reception and we spent four days there where I haven't felt so relaxed before or since! And fantastic value as we went in June and used our camping cheques. We couldn't fault it.
And there is an English speaking vet 10 mins up the road where we easily booked our 2 dogs in for their appointment and as a bonus turned out to be the most reasonably priced one we have come across in France yet! We can't wait to go back!

Boooked for 10 nights in August - 'a quiet spot overlooking the lake' which we were certainly given, although it was a long trek to the loos and pool - good job we took bikes!
Site was immaculate. Shop good and reasonable priced. Staff friendly. Pool complex was good but looks very dated (although they have plans to modernise it for 2010 season). Good as a base to go to Paris or Disney. They also run coaches from the site to both (but very expensive - easier to drive). Small supermarket in village, or large ones 1/2 drive away. Lots of facilities for kids (pedelos, trampolines, pool, kayak hire, table tennis, plus the pools etc). Fishing also available. A large site but structured in a way that you don't feel on top of each other, but be prepared to walk a lot! Very reasonable priced also!

If you are looking for the French experience this site is not for you.
However, if you are after a good clean campsite with loads to do for both adults and children of all ages you'll love it. People we chatted too returned year after year especially for the fishing - the site lies directly next to the River Aisne so along with the 3 fishing lakes on site it is a fishermen's dream.
Butlins in the sun - great for some but not for me!

Fantastic site! Something for everyone, we stayed on the touring field and had a lovely pitch near the river; we did have considerably more space than some but I think this was mainly because we did not need electric hook-up and were sited at the far end of the field. (This was only a 5 minute walk from the shop / pool etc.) It was peak season and very busy, some nights it was certainly quite tightly packed in some other areas of the site.
The children loved the pools, the lakes, the boat hire, the football pitch, the play areas etc etc. Well kept and clean toilet/shower facilities and shop (bit expensive!) restaurant, take away etc were all very good. Did plan a day trip to Paris but did not get there as no-one wanted to leave the site! Will definitely return next year.
Very easy drive from Calais (mainly motorway - toll 15 Euros each way) and good value at 31 Euro a night for 4 people with use of all the on-site facilities. Compared to the price of the packages available with the holiday companies with tents included would definitely say take your own tent!

This was my first visit to France on a camp site.
I loved it, not to far from the ferry and as it's not on the direct tourist trail, lovely empty Autoroute all the way.
The site is full of folks from all over Europe so makes for an interesting melting pot.
Activities on the site are great, swimming pool, canooeing lake, fishing lake, Beach/swiming lake, bike hire etc, unlike British sites, this site is large but some how feels like a small site.
The site is situated in a very rural area which I loved, some great walks just minutes from your door and you can be out for an hour or so and bump into no one :-)
The pizza take away on site was great and the boss was fantastic.
The restaurant was expensive and so so, nothing wrong with it, but nothing exciting.
Bar was expensive 4. 5 euros for a pint! but buy one get one free from 19. 00-20. 00 hours was great, all us Brits fighting to get to the bar!
All in all I loved this site and the surrounding area
