Have just returned from staying at the site for a second time during October half term primarily to visit Disneyland. The campsite covers a large area, and the pitches for statics and tourers are large. The site has an excellent if dated indoor (and outdoor) pool complex with slides that kids will enjoy.
The drive to Disney (approx 70 miles) takes at least 1 1/4 hours and the way back can be tiring after a day at the parks. We travelled for one day to Disney on the site's double decker coach (very friendly driver) which cost 52e for a family of four which was excellent value probably costing the same as driving.
The site is near to Compiegne, which has a great forest around it for cycling / walking - it also contains the Armistice Clearing which is worth a visit if you enjoy 20th century history.
The site is also close to the Chemin des Dames first world war battlefield, and the town of Pierrefonds with a beautiful Chateau on top of a hill overlooking a lake. All in all, a site with excellent facilities with some great days out nearby.

We had an overnight stop here, using Camping Cheques, on 23rd September, arriving an hour after reception had closed. We got a very warm and friendly reception from the Guardian, who left his meal and showed us to the overnight pitching area on a lovely plateau near to the entrance to the site. He told us where the hookups were, where to find water and the sanitary block, and the hours for the take-away and restaurant.

There were several other units already pitched, and we pitched on our allocated spot, allowing us to leave car and caravan hitched if we wanted an early start. The area was beautifully grassy, with no damage to the grass and there were four other units already there. The toilet block was immaculate, with individual tiled rooms containing shower and washbasin, and the water was hot and plentiful. The block contained toilets and several washing machines, and dryers too.

We ate at the restaurant (moules and frites - great), which was not typically french being more like an English chain pub type - but the food was good. There were lots of British families eating too.

All in all an excellent place for an overnight stop, and good shopping at the supermarket in Soissons (about 10 km away), with much less hassle them an end-of-holiday-shop nearer to Calais.

Having seen this site on here we booked 10th--29th Aug 07. When arrived reception was very good being shown are very large pitch. Water and waste water Facilty on Pitich ( not WC)
The first few Days Hot and ok, however there was a smell of sewage over the site which was to get worse. Then it started to heavy rain and very soon pitch's all started to Flood very badly. The smell of sewage just got worse.
There is 3 fishing Lakes on site and on my first trip to Largest lake, me and my mate sat by a pipe. Very soon it we saw flowing freely from the pipe into the lake pure untreated sewage with sanitry items. This went on for about 3 hrs. We reported this to site they checked and told us it was caravaners fault tipping wc into drain!
The fishing I have to say was brillent on site and in the river flowing next to site. I caught Bream up to 10lb and Stugin up 20lb. Many big carp also we caught but not by me.There was plenty to do, a good tip is to Buy you Kids a 30euro camp card as it works out a lot cheaper for you on boats/rides ect if there for a week or more. The food in restruant was very nice but do watch your bill.Overall a nice site but with a sewage problem that realy has got to be fixed and a better drainoff needed for pitch's.

Great campsite, toilets nice and clean, be nice if they had toilet paper in each cubical. Shops good with quite a few choices of stuff. Food in restuarant lovely but wasnt told we had to book a table .
Kids loved it plenty to do for them. The washing machines could be better as didn't clean that well. And the dryers took a long time and still the stuff wasnt dry.
But I think it is a good value park and we are planning to go back next year. As we was only there a week and would have like it to be longer. But the park is great.

Stayed in a pre-erected tent here, which are great with no probs. The site was really great something to do for everybody, bike hire, pedaloes, trampolenes, plenty pools and the list goes on! The bakery on site was great, shop was a bit expensive but which site shop isn't.
Only an hours drive from disney or the site do a bus trip a few times a week.
The toilets were kept fairly clean, we found one block near us to be worse (prob cos it was close to all amenities). Toilets were bit strange for kids as you have to go in and lock door before lights come on, bit scary for little ones!
All definite good site to go to, 2 1/2hrs drive from calais. May be back next year!

Is was our second visit to La Croix du Vieux Pont campsite (our first time was at Easter 6 years ago) and boy has it grown and improved since then.  This is a large campsite (500+ pitches) and spreads for 1km along the Aisne River at Berny Riviere. Many of the pitches have been taken up by several tour operators, so if you wish to stay in a tent, mobile home or chalet then there is no shortage of choice.
The campsite also hires out its own ‘gites’. These are quite strange in that they tend not to be individual buildings but have been built on top of or behind some of the campsite buildings. Some of the gites are over the bread shop and supermarket, some are behind one of the toilet blocks, and, strangest of all, two are built into the pitched roof of another toilet block. These last two gites do not have any grassy area to sit out on. Their only outside area is on a 10 feet high balcony positioned between two parts of  the main toilet block for the new camping area. I don’t know about you but when I think of sitting outside with a glass of wine and a baguette I don’t envisage being 10 feet up, strung between two toilet blocks with people milling about beneath me all the time. I’m sure that the interiors will be well appointed but the positioning of the gites does seem a bit odd to me (although the two gites I’ve just mentioned do have a good view across the lakes).
While on the subject of the toilet blocks, what are they like? Firstly the good points: there are lots of them dotted all around the site, so you shouldn’t have too far to go to get to one from most pitches. All the blocks are unisex; all contain toilets, showers, washing up and clothes washing facilities. Some also contain washing machines and driers. The blocks are all regularly cleaned (although some blocks manage to stay cleaner than others – reason later). Sadly there are also some negative points about the blocks that I should mention, which, in my opinion, are mainly down to poor design.  Firstly the toilets. Each toilet cubicle is completely enclosed, with a door that goes from floor to ceiling. Unless you choose one at the edge of a block there is no window and therefore no natural light. The cubicles are not lit until you lock the door, which means that as soon as you close the door the room goes very dark (this is especially true in the older blocks where the door seals are quite tight). This could be rather scary for young ones. A problem with the toilets in the newer blocks is that the doors spring closed which doesn’t allow for the air to clear as quickly as it might, if you get my drift.
A problem with the toilets that only affects the older blocks is the way they are flushed. They have a large cylinder above the toilet with a handle on it. You need to use the handle gently and not yank it like you might do with a household toilet. If you do pull it too hard then the flush water goes everywhere (causing the cubicle to get dirty quickly).
Now the showers. On the face of it these should be really good. Each cubicle contains a shower and a washbasin separated by a partition and is therefore quite spacious. Like the toilets they are completely enclosed and do not light up until the door is locked. The main problem with the showers is that they are controlled by a single push button so you have no control over either temperature or strength. We found that some of the showers never got beyond cold and had a spray pattern that allowed you to stand completely dry in the middle while the water sprayed around you. Having said that, I did manage to find a few showers that I was completely happy with. One other odd point about the showers in the older blocks is that all the glass is clear, so if you choose a shower on the edge of a block anyone passing can see what you’re doing. Don’t think “I’ll just sneak in – nobody will know” because as soon as you lock the door on comes the light, ensuring you can’t be missed. If you are shy or of a nervous disposition beware which showers you choose!
Finally on the subject of the toilet blocks; we only managed to find one genuine chemical disposal point on the whole site. This is behind reception at the front of the site – quite a distance from most pitches.
What is the rest of the site like? It’s really very good, very very good indeed. When you first arrive you report to reception, which is at the bottom of the drive to the right. This is a good-sized room that contains tourist information and also sells ice creams. From here one of the staff will show you to your pitch using one of the electric buggies that they have.
There are a number of different types of pitch on site, most of which are large. The pitches in the newer part of the site are either separated by low hedges (these still need to grow a bit), or are not separated at all (generally around the lake). Each pitch has electricity and may have its own tap. The pitches in the older part of the site are generally separated by tall hedges or by fences. Some of these pitches also include a barbecue. When I say barbecue, I don’t mean some rusty three-legged thing that can only hold two chicken wings. These barbecues are large brick or stone built buildings with roofs and chimneys, the smallest of which are larger than a small shed. The larger ones have chimneys that look like small towers. You can barbecue without getting wet. Excellent. Most of these pitches have now been taken up by the tour companies but there are still some available for tourers if you want one. There are also some tent pitches close to the river without electricity.
Next to reception there is an excellent bakers, and a very good size supermarket that stocks most things you would want. The bike hire shop is also here. On the other side of the main drive is the swimming pool complex that consists of outside and inside pools plus water slides, a Jacuzzi and an area for smaller ones. It also has changing rooms and lockers.
Next to this area is the bar and games room. The bar offers wifi connection for 3 euros per day. Next to the bar is the restaurant. We didn’t feel this was that good – it was all a bit rushed – a bit too fast food for a restaurant. Incidentally if you fancy an inexpensive meal out while you are here try Chez Micheline in Berny Riviere. It is very friendly and you can walk there from the site, plus, as a bonus, the barman looks remarkably like Rene from Allo Allo. I will say this only once – “Give it a try, c’est tres bon”. It is quite small so if you do decide to give it a try you should book it first.
Opposite the restaurant is the takeaway which serves burgers, chicken, pizzas – that kind of thing. We used this a couple of times and found it to be ok. Other buildings on site include a beauty salon and gym, a creperie and bar by one of the new lakes, and a gift shop. The actual site is very picturesque with many flowers planted throughout. There are a lot of grassy areas for you to play without annoying other campers.
There are now four lakes on site. At the first lake you can hire pedalos and canoes. This lake is also used for fishing. There are a further two lakes for fishing and a lake with sandy beach for swimming. The lakes attract swans, geese, and ducks that are forever wandering around the site.
There is plenty to do on-site. There are two tennis courts, at least six table tennis tables (some under cover), a multi-purpose sports pitch, 5 a side pitch, trampolines, large inflatable slide, free archery plus kids play areas.
Some campsites organise sporting events, this one did not, however, it did arrange some entertainment in the bar, and on one weekend also arranged a massive firework display and a sandcastle competition. The campsite also has its own rather posh coach and provides (at a cost) trips to Disneyland and Paris. There is plenty to do in the surrounding area.
If you like castles there is Pierrefonds and Chantilly. Theme parks are covered by Disneyland and Parc Asterix. This is also an area steeped in the history of the two World Wars. If you enjoy walking there are plenty of routes close-by. The gift shop sells books showing these walks.
If you are looking for a campsite that is easy to get to from Calais (3 hours by major roads), then La Croix du Vieux Pont is a really good choice. Please do not be put off by my ramblings about the toilets. They’re not great but they are better than many sites. It’s just disappointing that with the amount of money that the owners have obviously spent on these facilities they do not quite match the quality of the rest of the site.
This is an excellent campsite and must rate as one of the best in Northern France. Visit it; you will not regret you did.

Really enjoyed this site. We had a really big pitch with our own water tap and electricity point they had an English and Continental points! We stayed for 8 nights and the weather was really hot. Apparently it was not very good before we arrived.
The toilet facilities were good but by the afternoon they did look a bit grubby and they did start to stink. There are a few blocks dotted all over the site so no one has to walk very far. On the site there was loads to do the lakes for fishing and we spent most of the time around the man made beach as the pool areas were really busy.
The take away served all your regular fast food such as chicken, chips, burger & pizzas. The bakery had freshly cooked baguettes and croissants and the site mini market was really well stocked. There was a supermarket about 5 mins drive away or a HUGE Cora supermarket about 15 mins away which was a lot cheaper. We were also treated to a firework display it lasted for nearly 15 mins and was really good. Also 1 word of warning feeding the ducks is ok but feed the swans and they will follow you around until you have no bread left this was very scary!  We would visit this site again!

We have just returned from 14 nights at this campsite. The only thing that I would say could have been better was the weather !
There were 11 of us in total in 2 trailer tents.
The pitches are very large with your own electric, water tap and waste pipe. Plenty of room for the trailer tent, car, picnic tables and still room for the kids to play badminton, boules etc.
The facilities were great, on site restaurant, take away , very good well stocked shop, swimming pools, etc. The only downside to the toilet/shower block nearest to us was that by mid afternoon they could be a bit stinky, there were only 3 toilets (2 extra in the disabled showers) and a great number of people using them . Water was always hot in the showers , sometimes a bit on the too hot side !
Plenty going on in the bar in the evenings , they had a kids disco which went down well.
Staff were very friendly too. We had a late tunnel crossing on our return , so asked for a late departure which was given at no extra cost!
Euro Disney was only an hour and 10 mins away and quite an easy route , although they have a bus that does regular trips to both Paris and Disney for a fee.
All in all this was a great site and I would return to it.

Could not fault the facilities during our stay but did however have a little trouble getting hot water in the showers some of the time. We stayed very near the football area as my family are really into fishing. Apparently the fishing was not great but they did catch a few 19 pound sturgeon! The site is very easy to find from Calais but we also found it a little too English! Staff were very helpful. The restaurant was very average and seemed to cater for the British obsession with fast food rather than providing traditional French cuisine which I look forward to during my holiday. We would certainly go again for a week break but would not be my first choice for my main summer holiday. There was an awful smell at various times of the day which apparently came from the McCain factory down the road! All in all a decent easy to get to site but if you like to practice your French this is not the site for you - even the supermarket in the village has a Union Jack over a section of the shelves to cater for the British who can't live without their Heinz Beans!

This campsite was clean, welcoming and the sites were very large. Showering facilites and toilets were extremely clean even though you had to remember and take toilet roll with you, which isn't a problem. There are lakes all around the site but we had no problem with our daughter going near them on her own. They also have table tennis and a small play area. The pools were excellent and had lifeguards on usually 3. The restaurant was good but you had to make sure you booked. The takeaway was also very good with really good pizzas. They also have a shop/bakery and bike hire. Fishing is very popular and one of the lakes you can hire a boat and go round for 30 mins. All in all this is a fantastic site. The only problem I did find was the touring sites were large but the eurocamps etc were like sardines, very close together. We travelled through to Eurodisney and Paris with no problems. The Restaraunt Michelne in Berny Reviere is great, really friendly and good home cooking, even the kids would love it. The mussels were great and were the snails.
