What a lovely find this was. A very easy site to get to and not overcrowded. All hardstandings for caravans and at £15p. N for 2 adults, caravan, awning, ehu and car was good value for money.
The site is within walking distance of Kings Sutton which has a rail link to Banbury and Oxford. As the site is located next to the canal it is about an hours walk to Banbury along the tow path, this is a pleasant walk.
The toilet block is in a converted brick kiln and is immaculate - they are cleaned daily and are always spotless.
The only minor negatives to this site is the noise from the M40 but we did not let this put us off and it is not well sign posted (if you decide to visit the site, go down the bank slowly after crossing the M40 as it is on the right at the bottom of the bank before you go over the canal)- we would return to this site.
A Fish and Chip wagon comes round on Friday evenings, we tried them and they were lovely, a little disappointed that they did not do mushy peas - they did them in the form of a fritter - we tried but I was not overkeen.
An Ice cream van came round on the saturday afternoon, which was welcoming as it was a hot day.
All in all I really liked this site and would use it again and recommend it to friends.

We spent a couple of nights at this site in 2012. It is prettily laid out with nice gardens. The pitches were hardstanding with not much in the way of grass, which is important for some. For us, it didn't make much difference as we used the site as a base for exploring the local area. The site is nicely located on the canal and there is a pleasant walk along the towpath into Banbury, although flying insects were a bit of a nuisance when we were there. Staff on the site were helpful and the toilet/shower/washing facilities were superb.
I take the point of what previous reviewers said about there seeming to be people living on site. I don't have a major problem with that, apart from the fact that it detracts from the 'leisurely' mood of the place. Maybe if those 'residential' units were located in a different part it might improve the holiday feel. I suppose if you feel strongly about it, you're best just choosing a different site. It wasn't really an issue for me and I thoroughly enjoyed my stay there as it gave me the perfect base from which to explore Banbury.

Just returned home after a fortnight at this site. Lots to see in the area. Site well situated although close to M40 this did not cause any problems.
Facilities excellent they even provide a free washer/dryer. Nearby village boasts 3 good pubs.
The Tree Tuns has a Chinese takeaway in the back. Fish & chip van visits Fridays.
Would not hesitate to visit this little gem in the future. Banbury town well worth a visit.
Sainsburys, Morrisons & Tescos only a couple of miles away.
Canal at the bottom of site with towpath to village or town.

Managed to book this site at short notice - phoned on the friday to arrive friday evening. Warmly greeted and shown to the camp field by the owner. Cars not allowed on camping field, but parking is right next to it.
Facilities clean and well looked after. Lots of space to play relax in.
Site quite busy, but quiet - most of the noise experienced was from the road and the M40 - but not too intrusive.
Fish and chip van calls on a Friday evening at around 7pm. Tried to walk to Kings Sutton to go out for a meal, however could not locate the public footpath off the canal towpath - so drove there instead (5mins). Butchers Arms well worth the visit.

A nice change for tenters to have the best of a site, a lovely landscaped garden. It is close to the motorway but only a slight background buzz rather than the zooms I have had when staying at others near a motorway.
Facilities are really nice and you can choose your own pitch. There is no hassle with larger tents. A very useful Sainsbury's 2 miles away as I had left my bag with clothing behind.
The price is for two adults no charge for kids and no extras
Facilities are spotless and appears to be a free washer drier as well.

Clean and well looked after.
Allowed cap fires in a fire pit which was nice.
Our only gripe was the noise of the M40 & adjacent road. For me, camping is about an escape from everyday life. And the sound of the M40 was just too much in my opinion. You did zone out after a while, but was a constant reminder of going to work! I am surprised how many reviews didn't find it a problem.
It is largely a caravan site, so I imagine you would not hear it as much inside one.
So I would sadly not recommend this site for this reason alone.
I would echo the comments regarding the grounds and canal walks etc. But if you like lying peacefully in a tent, or quietly chatting over a box of wine, then I'd steer well clear.

Have just returned from a weekend stay at this campsite and had an absolutely wonderful time. I was with a group of 19 (adults and children aged between around 5-12 years).
The weather over the weekend was varied with some sunshine, heavy rain and blustery winds (gusts of up to 40 mph), however the site is sheltered and so the wind didn't affect our tents and the flat pitching areas are well drained. No mud at all! We were able to sit out a lot of the time.
The site is beautifully landscaped and in a lovely area next to easy canal walks into Banbury. The children had great fun helping some passing barges work a nearby (about 3/4 of a mile) lock.
Shower and toilet facilities are wonderful - modern, clean, warm, well stocked with toilet roll and hand soap and virtually insect free! There is also a washing machine in the ladies. There is outdoor washing up facilities and also indoor facilities (again in the ladies).
Large, shower and toilet room also available for disabled persons. There is some noise from the nearby motorway, but it just blended into the background after a short while. The plus points to the site far outweighed this! We made the most of it and took the children up to the bridge where they had great fun waving at passing lorries and were thrilled when motorists tooted horns, flashed lights and waved at them.
Site owner was lovely and friendly and chatty, and we were all rather envious of his gorgeous house right next to the canal. We tripped our electrics early one morning and he was there right away to get things sorted for us, so the morning cuppa wasn't delayed!
Residents on site were also lovely. Free WiFi was very handy, and fast! The boys were able to stream the football match on iPad and iPhone.
Fabulous site, child friendly and highly recommended for a visit. We would definitely return.

We chose this site because it is close to home and we wanted to test out the systems on our brand new caravan before we went further afield.
Stayed for two nights - very peaceful apart from some slight noise from the adjacent M40 and the odd train horn from the direction of Kings Sutton (we live on a farm out in the sticks, miles from anywhere so notice the slightest amount of non-natural noise but it really was not intrusive at all).
The site owner was friendly and the folks who were in residence at the same time as us made us feel welcome. Including advice about the pubs etc in the locality. We ate at the White Horse in Kings Sutton, as the Butchers Arms (recommended) was fully booked, and it was fabulous - would highly recommend it.
Facilities were clean, warm and very unusual, being housed in a converted Brick Kiln!
All in all, a great weekend and all the services on the van worked too, so a real result!

Reception: Lady on reception was very welcoming, showed us to our pitch and was on hand for any queries. No newspapers.
Pitch: Hard standing, good sized pitch with tv hook up, water stand points every other pitch. Noise from M40 was noticeable, but no problem for us.
Facilities: New shower / toilet block in converted barn is very clean and spacious, though with only 2 showers in gents and 2 in ladies, when all caravan and tent pitches are taken, it would be a bit hit and miss. Fish and chip van visits every Friday around 7. 30pm.
Dog walk: There is a small walk on site, but adjoining the site is the canal with long walks in both directions. There is also a pleasant walk through fields into Kings Sutton (25 mins)
Pubs: There are 3 pubs in Kings Sutton. We visited The Butchers Arms with our dog Scruffy. The landlady, Celina, was very welcoming, as were the locals. Only intended staying for a couple, but ended up having 5 points of Hookey, very nice.
Kings Sutton: About 25 mins across the field or along the road, your choice. Going through the field brings you out by the railway station. You can then work your way through the village. In the village there is a beautiful church which has lots of history detailed inside. 3 pubs, 1 post office and a co-op.
Local Transport: You can stop the bus outside the site, but it only goes every 2 hours. We walked up the hill, over the M40 to the main road and caught another bus into Banbury, but these are not frequent either.
Play Area: The landscaped gardens are great for kids, though when they have the tents on them this may be restricted.
In summary, a very pleasant site with good facilities and lovely walks. The local village has decent hostelries with real ales and is very pretty, the church is especially worth visiting.

Arrived on Christmas Day mid afternoon and went straight to reception. The owner had just finished his Christmas lunch and after I had rung the bell and woke the baby he kindly showed us to our pitch.
All hardstanding with full service pitches EHU, fresh water and waste water disposal.
The toilet block was superb very very clean and well kept.
This site is kept to a very high standard and the owner has put a great deal of work to keep this high standard.
We will most certainly camp here again.
