Not a great site, really just a back garden with facilities. Newer 'Westminster' toilet block bit nicer than older block which needs tlc. Showers cost extra up to £1 a time - key required for newer blocks. Key also required for laundry.

Place run with iron rod and I'm sorry to say we did not receive a friendly atmosphere. Expensive laundry.

Views ok from some pitches.

Only positives are that it's well located to visit local area and has reasonably level pitches.

We stayed for 5 nights at this site. There was no-one around when we arrived but we received a warm welcome from the owner when he returned home. The serviced pitches are excellent, hard standing and fairly level with good views from most pitches although little shelter if the weather is windy.

Showers are extra with varying prices from £1 down to £0. 40 - not sure why or what the difference was! Laundry facilities are available at reasonable cost.

Interesting area from which to tour the island. My only adverse comment is that the showers would benefit from a good clean.

WOW ! What fantastic improvements at this family run site. Great additional shower block absolutely marvellous. And the charge for the 'luxury' showers is well worth it and despite this charge the overall nightly fee is extremely reasonable. The additional hardstanding with own dedicated water tap and the provision for drainage really spoils you. No need for water barrels being constantly filled. Again a very warm welcome and an open barbecue for any takers as is the case whenever I visit this site. Please take the time to visit this site if you are ever clever enough to take the time and Visit Scotland, Especially the outer Hebrides.

We (two girls) staid there for three nights. The welcome was very friendly, the tidiness of the shower and toilet were excellent. Also the kitchen and the living room were perfect.

The pitch on a plastform was very big and we enjoyed the landscape and the country life very much. We will return (hopefully with nicer neighbours who did ignore us). An ideal place with wonderful campsite owners - highly recommend.

We stayed at this site for a single night - we were based for a fortnights holiday down on North Uist and wanted to do a two day trip up to Lewis & Harris, so the tent for the night it was! On arrival there was nobody manning the reception, so we found a spot (the grass area for tents doesn't have numbered pitches) and pitched - just as we finished the owners turned up and we were given a lovely warm welcome and reassured that this was the right thing to do!

Facilities are basic but immaculately clean - 2 toilets and a single shower per section in the main block (Nicknamed 'Downing Street' - the ladies use No. 11, the gents is No. 10!) plus extra facilities on the other side of the courtyard. The washing up area and small kitchen is a nice touch - complete with a small stove labelled for general use 'So long as you clean it afterwards!'. There is also a small sitting area, and a laundry room.

We were slightly stumped by an earlier review on here claiming that there were 'no views' from this site - to the contrary, although not a sea view (and bearing in mind its location, you wouldn't expect this!) the views out over the surrounding countryside are very pleasant indeed.

A nice little site - we would certainly be happy to return.

We stayed here as a base to activities along the north part of the Island, and options for other campsites are limited on Lewis. We had a warm welcome to the site, which is a converted garden, so quite compact and we were quite close to other units. The facilities were very dated, and although clean are in need of updating. Simple things like one of toilets has clear glass window with just an ill-fitted net curtain at the window which doesn't feel very private, especially when it is dark and the light is on. The showers are an additional charge. We used this as a convenient stop-off but quickly moved on once we had seen things of interest in this area.

We stayed here for 7 nights and were made very welcome indeed. Nothing was too much trouble and the whole family were very friendly.

There were several hardstanding pitches, grass pitches, electric hookups. This was a compact site with a campers kitchen, rest area, laundry, shower and toilets.

Milk was for sale and papers were available to order. Facilities were adequate and clean.

The site provided a good base for exploring Lewis with a lovely quiet beach within a mile - best to walk or cycle.

Nearest shop approx one mile away; dog walk on site. We would certainly revisit.

This was a pleasant well tended back garden site!

The owners could not have been more helpful and friendly. We could choose our own pitch and it was all very civilised. I needed to see a doctor whilst there and they phoned for an appointment and gave good directions etc.

I suppose the only negatives were, that you could have been anywhere. It was all very bland with no views, well, a few fields perhaps and other caravanners etc.

The toilet facilities and shower block we did not use but looked dated and tired, although clean. Good laundry facilities with full drying lines outside.

The location was good but the welcome was not great and I got the general feel that they could not be bothered to even point out where the facilities were, which they didn't.

Very annoyingly they never mentioned the 50p required for the showers and the next morning when I went to the shower I saw the 50p requirement and I approached the house to get change to find they were out. So no shower as I had no 50p.

The kitchen had cold water so washing dishes in cold water was a disaster. Also the number of posters stuck up everywhere telling you what you could and couldn't do was off putting and somewhat institutional.

The services provided in principle were good albeit old fashioned but the lack of hot water was a total pain.

I found the people of Barra, Uisit and Harris very welcoming and friendly but this site to be fair did not leave a friendly impression of the people of Lewis.

Possibly charging say £17-£18 and letting people have a hot shower without the 50p might be easier all-round.

As previously stated this is one of only a very few sites on the Island of Lewis. Hardstanding and grass pitches with EHU, showers and toilets in an old but clean toilet block.

We arrived in truly atrocious weather (pouring rain and blowing a gale) and got stuck on the boggy grass. The owner who is a lovely, friendly and very helpful man helped us out with great efficiency as he did with one or two others during our visit because of the awful weather!

This is a great site for visiting the Callanish standing stones, Blackhouse Village and the Broch. Also Uig beach is within striking distance and their are one or two other beaches near at hand.

There is a lovely restaurant just a mile or so down the road called the Inn Between where you can get a lovely meal in very pleasant surroundings.

I would definitely recommend this site if going to the Western Isles.
