Stayed on this site for 2 nights, just myself and my 7 year old.
Booked it very last minute (2 hours before we arrived)
When we got there, the guy that manages the site took our site fee - £12 per night. And explained the basics.
He advised us to stay in the caravan field (on a large patch of grass) as the main tent field had a large party of people on it with about 20 kids.
I'm glad he did, as my Son had plenty of room to play in the spot we were in.
The toilet/shower block was good enough for a couple of nights, probably could do with a bit of an intensive clean, but they're really not that bad, I've seen much worse before.
Washing-up sinks were nice and clean, with plenty of hot water.
Mick seems to be round and about the site most of the day, just checking everything is running ok, but not intrusive at all.
We walked down the little road the site is on and picked a load of blackberries, which was nice.
Newbury town centre is not far away, and there is a decent complex with a few major retailers and a large Tesco about 5 mins drive away; turn right onto main road up to 'The Gun' pub turn right and carry on straight and you'll find them.
We would stay again, as it seem like a nice quiet place with enough room for kids to play.

I lovely little site, feels like your miles away from any were. Once all set up you could be any where in the uk, birds singing and wildlife all around. Its got a bit of a slope but nothing your jacks cant sort out. The shower blocks could do with a 21st century up grade but they do the job. Perfect for small children as they can run around and they cant get out. Whilst there I spoke to a few regulars and they said it grate to just pack up and go there for a spear of the moment trip.
Can recommend to any first timers and I will definitely be going back so if you see me running after my little boy don't be shy just say hi

We chose to stay here as it was within suitable travelling distance to Car Fest. The site is very pleasant with a large flat field for tents to pitch. It does feel as if you are in the middle of the countryside, however 5 minutes drive away is the centre of Newbury.
The chap that met us on arrival seemed pleasant enough and was helpful during our stay. The sinks for dish washing were clean and the hot water was always hot.
The only downside to this site is the washing facilities. When you are camping you do not expect luxury, and to be fair the toilet and sink fittings did look dated but worked adequately. However hygienic toilet, sinks and showers to me is essential especially when you are sharing the facilities with potentially hundreds of people during the season. They need a good scrub and the use of some bleach to obliterate some of the mould that has formed. I only once saw the toilets being cleaned and this was by the chap that had me us on arrival. All he had with him was a dirty looking cloth, but no hint of cleaning products.

My wife and I visited this site having found it on the internet under “Camp Sites Newbury”. Looking, for a site near to Highclere Castle (Downton Abbey). We stayed at the site over the very cold Easter holiday, and stayed the cold week following Easter.
On our arrival we commented on the nice layout of the pitches around a gravel road. And, how nice the distances between the pitches were. There is a mix of hard standings and grass, and the elderly man who met us, said he preferred to keep the hard standings for Motor Homes, so they could level better. We had a choice of where we went on the grass area, as there were only 5 Caravans and 4 Motorhomes on site. The grass looked well-kept and short.
After we settled the caravan on our chosen pitch, which was quite level, we went to use the facilities. On our initial visit to use the loo they looked clean. However, when we went to freshen up in more detail, the facilities were not as clean as they first seemed. The Floor although being moped, had dirty dried water in the veins of the floor tiles, they need rinsing after being moped, as the dirty water is just spread around and left to dry. Dirt has built up in the corners where it has been moped and left. The urinals and toilets could do with some Toilet Duck or Bleach to remove the stains and Lime Scale, The Cisterns would benefit from being cleaned with a cleaner, The service pipes need cleaning to remove the Dust and Cob Webs, The Extractor Fans are covered in Dust, The Toilet Cubical Walls need cleaning to remove marks, including the inside of the door. We only used the Shower once, we have our own in the Caravan, and did not want to get undressed and dressed after showering in the Cold Temperature of the building 2 – 5 deg. As there was no heating on in the building. The Shower head could do with being descaled as there was no spray; the water from the shower head was like coming out of a tap. The Shower Cubical is large and would be a pleasure to use.
All that is needed to make this NICE site into a VERY NICE site is some proper cleaning of its facilities. Although the fittings have seen better days and are old, they would be improved with better cleaning. The facilities are NOT DIRTY, but they are in neglect of a good clean. It really is a pity that this neglect of cleaning over rides the overall good condition of the site.
Having commented on the above, we would use this site again if in the area again.

We(myself and 2 friends) were on a cycle tour on the NCN route 4 along the Kennet and Avon and used this site. We'd used it last year and liked it so went back.
It's about a mile or so from Newbury but it's quiet which is just how we like it.
The pitches are flat and pegs go in easy.
Toilet block is generally clean and in good working order.
The chap that runs the place is a little bit quirky and came across a little wary. It would seem from what he said that he's had bad experiences with previous people staying there so makes sure that you follow the rules which isn't a bad thing I suppose.
After pitching up we used the same pub for the evening which is called the Woodpecker. It's about half a mile down the road in the direction of Newbury. This pub is excellent. The staff are friendly, they have a billiard table, they allowed me to charge up my phone, the beer was good, the wine was good and I had a small rump steak for £7 which was excellent.
I would definitely recommend the campsite

I spent 4 nights here and it was only £12 per night, including EHU. Site is well maintained and the toilets are better than they look from the outside - they are somewhat dated inside as well, but everything was clean and worked OK.
I was on the main site and the pitches were quite sloping. Even my levelling ramps couldn't quite get my campervan level, but there should be no problems with caravans.
Only a short drive to a large retail park and Tesco.
The tennis court was a nice little feature - neither of us could play tennis, but some cheap racquets and balls enabled us overweight geriatrics to have a few hours of laughter and gasping for breath.
I would certainly consider staying again, if I was in the area, but it's 190 miles from my home.

Stayed for a weekend break in April, small friendly site, very quiet just the way we like it.
Some slightly sloping pitches some flat, showers and toilet were ok, not the best but certainly not the worst I have used, plenty of hot water, nice size pitches, some grass some hardstanding.
Large grass area away from the the pitches for children to play also tennis courts available.
I liked the barrier system with added security.
Large tesco and sainsburys within 4 miles, smaller shops are closer but not within walking distance
Give it a try, you wont regret it for the price.
Our first time but it wont be our last

Visited for 3 nights during half term with my 2 boys aged 10 and 7. Lovely little site. Very peaceful (even during half term). Pretty surroundings, with lots of shops, Tesco and fast food places just 2 miles away.
Barrier in operation 24 hours a day. Site felt safe. Cars did leave site early in the mornings, and I believe some people were working nearby and using the campsite as a base. This wasn't a huge problem though and everyone was very friendly.
Site has a no noise after 10pm rule and this seemed to work very well. Didn't find the playground for the children and the games room was closed due to vandalism, which was a shame. My boys however were very happy using the large tennis court as an area to play in on their scooters and with their ball. Think the warden would do anything to help you - 10 out of 10.
Facilities adequate for the price. Shower block is heated at night, which is great. Plenty of quality toilet paper available, along with hand soap. Hairdryer 20p (didn't need it). Lots of nearby fresh water taps. Didn't have to walk more than 20 steps to reach one.
Electric hook up worked very well and didn't trip. Pitch was quite stoney, so had some frustration pegging tent, but worked around it. Site is gently sloping, so tent did seem to have moved downhill a few inches by the third night and would've needed re-pegging. It is a very gentle slope though and not a huge problem at all. Excellent drainage. Recycling area for your rubbish. Chemical waste point was as clean as it could be!
Overall, if you're looking for some peace and quiet in a small, friendly site, I would definitely recommend. I will definitely be visiting again sometime.

Lovely campsite in a nice and peaceful location. Very reasonably priced. Had a lovely man there who helped me get the caravan in place.
He also helped me hitch the caravan back on at the end of the stay too and lent us a electric cable as mine didn't quite reach. Surrounding were lovely.
Having a pizzahut, McDonalds, Tesco's etc just over 2 miles away helped. Facilities were fine. Being picky the showers could do with updating but really can't complain about them given the price and was pleased to be able to use them.
My son had a great time too, he's 6. I didn't manage to find the play area which some other people talked about but he spent quite a lot of time in the tennis courts playing and riding his scooter around.
The owner / very helpful man was fine so long as he was supervised and not causing mischief.

Brilliant site, very well kept and beautiful surroundings!
Site in a peaceful location although busy road can be heard from afar but not noisy enough to bother you.
Toilet/Shower block were very well kept and well stocked with loo roll, and hand wash and plenty of hooks to hang your towels/clothes on.
Hairdryer facilities was a bonus even though I didn't need to use it on this occasion. Three washing up basins for washing dishes etc and a very pro recycling area provided which was very well organised and simple to use.
We will definitely be coming back in the future and will recommend to everyone we know as this site is very good value for money!
