I was only there for one night and didn't get much of a chance to check out the whole site or the surroundings, but I would definitely use it again if I was in the area needing a place to stay.
The main field was about half full, mostly with caravans, but I don't think there were that many being used at the back end of September during a pretty wet spell.
Friendly warden. The shower/toilet block was basic but did the job. My hardstanding pitch was quite small but not a problem since so is my van! Other pitches looked bigger. EHU is optional and I did not need it. There is a recycling area next to the toilet block.
There was a barrier in operation all of the time - I think it was numeric keypad when entering/automatic when leaving.
Beware when using sat-nav.Mine tried to get me to the site using the narrow lane about 200m further up the A343, instead of Penwood Road. Not the easiest place to find.
There was quite a lot of traffic to/from the farm next door until quite late, and vehicles leaving the site itself quite early in the morning. From this and the fact that some of the vehicles next to the caravans were clearly company cars I suspect that some of the people were working nearby and using the site as basecamp.

Just got back from a short break.
Nice quiet site with a big field which was almost empty and the main field which was busier. We chose the busier field as the play area was here.
Our children aged 6 and 11 had a great time and there were other children to play with and ride bikes with.
The shower block is old but is kept very clean and there was always plenty of hot water.
A very good value place.

We were greeted at the gate by a very friendly guy who showed us to our pitch, and came back a while later to check we were OK. We were meeting friends, and they were able to site us together and didn't mind our two tents joining porches. The site has two fields. The pitches were level and site felt quite open (no fences / bushes). The toilet block was clean, and there were no queues for showers.
There was a small playground area, and a tennis court (the guy lent us some tennis rackets), and a grassy area for ball games. No problems with noise (either from other campers or road). Pub within walking distance, but it didn't look appealing from outside so we didn't visit it.
Overall, a well kept and run campsite and if you are visiting the Newbury area, we would definitely recommend it. It was a halfway point between us and our friends and we would go back.

Found the site easily, it really is just off the A34!
Warden very friendly and explained everything you needed to know.
We pitched by the park which had a slide, swings etc - perfect for children of all ages! Tennis court was also a real bonus.
Grass was very short and drainage was good.
Toilet Block was basic, but very clean. Showers were hot, but not very powerful.
Sinks were outside and had push hot water taps.
However, we enjoyed every other aspect of the site, the Warden was very friendly, site clean and peaceful.

Very good site, cant wait to go back again, not too far for Legoland and Windsor.
Toilets and showers nice and clean and Mike the site warden is a lovely man which is why I would go back again. Highly recommended!
Kids loved this site, nice and peaceful also wildlife is nice.
I would say it would have made a slight difference if the games room was open, it has been damaged by children who's parents didn't keep a watchful eye on them. But still a great site!
Keep up the good work!

We have previously only stayed on small 5 unit sites but were unable to find one for the August Bank Holiday and needed to have easy access to Winchester. This 30 unit site was therefore huge compared to what we are used to. We were pleasantly surprised. We were met and directed to our pitch on arrival and told where the jockey wheel had to sit.
The ladies washblock consisted of 3 loos and 2 showers although we mainly relied on our own facilities. The site facilities were however clean with plenty of loo roll and we'd have been happy to use them if we hadn't been self-sufficient. There was a hairdryer which was 20p to use. Excellent rubbish and recycling facilities including a special bin for disposable bbqs.
Although there were no children in our party, the children's play facilities appeared to be well used and enjoyed without impacting on the peace and quiet of this site. The Warden advised us he didn't like noise after 11pm which was absolute bliss and in fact the site was quiet much earlier than that. The site was so peaceful we were content to spend the whole Sunday just chilling.
Our only complaint would be that the waste water takes a long time to drain away - but we put this down to other people's carelessness, e.G. Emptying excessive food waste in grey water down it. The CDP was fine and at a good height for easy access.
Departure was easy with the Warden advising us which way would be easiest for us to drive off our good sized pitch.
If we ever need to stay in the area again we would not hesitate to return to this site.

Just got back from a long weekend.
Can't fault this campsite. We paid £14 per night in peak season, for 2 adults, 2 young kids and electric. Bargain!
We were made to feel really welcome and were shown to a lovely pitch, almost completely flat.
The shower block and washing up station were nearby and cleaned regularly. There was plenty of hot water. We had to wait on Sunday morning for a shower but other days there was no queue.
The kids loved the playground and would have happily spent all day there! They made new friends and there was plenty of room for them to run and cycle about, and yet it never seemed noisy.
There was traffic noise but the site is not far from the A34 so it's as you'd expect.
We'd happily go back.

A Great site, and a great weekend. We have just returned from Oakley farm and have thoroughly enjoyed it.
After a horrifically long traffic ridden journey to Newbury with our 2 and 3 year old girls, it was a great to get there and meet Mick the warden as you enter the site. He is incredibly friendly and helpful and the kids loved him.
The site is clean and tidy and everyone was polite. We camped on the field next to the play area, Mick advised us of the best spot!, and there was plenty of room. All the children played together on the slide and swings for hours leaving the adults to mingle and BBQ.
The facilities, albeit basic were very clean Two showers, 3 cubicles and three sinks. Mick cleans them all a couple of times a day. The washing area was large enough and had plenty of piping hot water. They also have full recycling facilities on site.
At night is was peaceful and quiet and the site is lit just enough to be able to find your way around.
All in all a great weekend and we will return, if we can get in.!

We just got back from 6 nights here it was lovely. On arrival we were greeted by the warden who is in the first caravan that you come to as you enter the main field he was very helpful. We had booked an electric pitch very reasonable the pitch with electric 2 adults and 2 children was £14 a night bargain. Mick the warden told us we could have a pitch that he had saved for us in the main caravan field or we could go into the tent field we choose the caravan field it was a large pitch with very level and well drained ground.
The toilet block has 2 showers in mens and ladies and 3 or 4 toilets in each. They were basic but very clean and just what you needed really. For the children there is a play ground in the main field which had a slide, basketball hoop and swings they also have a tennis court which is free not something we have come across before.
The site is really quite they ask that you be quite after 10pm and there is a gate that gets locked at 11pm but this isnt a problem because there is somewhere to park if you get back after 11pm and you can get in on foot but what it does stop which I have experienced before is people driving round like nutters in the dark.
The warden is always around and it makes you feel very secure knowing that your belongings in your tent are probably as safe as they could ever be when you are camping.
Newbury is about 5-10 mins in the car and tescos and a retail park are just up the rd about 2 miles also they do have some local shops at Wash common but we didn't use them.
They ask you to vacate your pitch by 1pm on the day you leave but it was raining really bad and mick was lovely and helpful and told us we could leave it up for a while which helped it to dry off. All in all we had a brilliant time and would have liked to return for aug bank hols unfortunately they are fully booked but I have no doubt we will return next year.

First time here - and I was very happy with what I found.
There is a warden on site all the time, who was welcoming and helpful, gave me a quick tour, then let me decide where I wanted to pitch my tent.
The site is nearly flat, and well maintained. The grass had been cut, but they must collect the cuttings, as none found their way into my tent!
There were a lot of very heavy showers whilst I was there - but the ground stayed in wonderful condition - no signs of puddles or muddy areas - testament to the good drainage they have.
The toilets/shower blocks are good and kept nice and clean. Hot water is free, both in the showers and for washing up. The sinks for washing up are under a good shelter, and the 3 of them were never busy.
It is about 1.5 miles to the Budgens supermarket, but that was a good size, and if you want more, there is always Newbury 2 miles away.
This is a perfect base for exploring the area, be it the Downs, the Canal, the villages and towns or the countryside.
The best bit is that all these excellent facilities cost me and my tent just £3.50 a night! Superb value. If I'm this way again, I will definitely go again.
