We have just returned from a 3 night stay over the May bank holiday and would not return again. The site is in a good location, within 10 minutes you have a Sainsburys, Morrisons, KFC, McDonalds and Paignton Zoo.
Now for the site, the staff are very friendly and helpful but if you like to be packed like a sardine in a tin then this is for you, the spaces were very small and everyone was on top of each other.
The toilet block was cleaned regularly but was very dated with dishwashing facilities located inside, our friends husband came from the shower which was a shower curtain not a separate cubicle to find a lady washing the dishes with her husband in the mens toilets. The condensation on the plastic corrugated roofing continually dripped onto you in the shower block, which is annoying when you are trying to get dressed after drying yourself.
The showers were also push button (a pet hate of mine) and one day the shower was freezing and the next very hot and you could not turn the temperature down. Apparently they were ran by gas so it would depend on how many people had showered before you on the temperature you had.
The facilities for children was very good with parks, playhouses and the pool but we did not use the pool to comment, clubhouse, shop or cafe/takeaway.

We will definitely be returning to Whitehill country park. The site is clean friendly well laid out and when we visited out of season very quiet.
The showers wash area were kept clean at all times, the showers had a constant supply of hot water.
We took our two dogs and they only allow dogs when its quiet and they provide a fenced of exercise area.
We visited a few places and one pub we would recommend for fantastic food is The Forces Tavern on the Totnes Dartmouth road. Try the Prawn and sundried tomato stuffed beefburger, its fantastic.

Just returned from a four night stay over Easter, we couldn't fault the fabulous weather. Overall the site is good, although a lot of the pitches are on slopes, we had a flat spot because we requested one!,
the shower/toilet block were cleaned regularly but were a little outdated, the condensation on the plastic corrugated roofing continually dripped onto you, which is annoying when you are trying to get dressed after drying yourself.
One thing we did not like was the fact that the facilities to wash dishes was inside the toilet block, you have to walk with your dishes through the toilets to reach the sinks, this room is also used for drying of hair etc.
There is one good toilet/shower block down the bottom of the park though if you don't mind a trek, and this has outside washing up area but it was too far to trek with all the dirty dishes!
Another down side is the fact that the chip shop shuts at 9pm, therefore if you go up for the entertainment in the evening and fancy a bite to eat afterwards your out of luck!
The grass is also a little long in places, usually campsites keep it very short. When we arrived we were given the pitch number and told to wait outside for someone to show us the pitch from a buggy, not very friendly welcome, although it was 8pm when we arrived.
Overall not a bad site, the location is very good for local beaches and attractions but the approach is very narrow, busy lanes so not ideal for walking!
Pool was good although the toilet/shower block near it was closed off due to problems with the boilers!
Shop and games room were fine. If it wasn't for the location we definitely wouldn't return, we have been to better!

I have just returned from Whitehall, booking the last week of the school holidays, and I can safely say that despite having been camping since I was a baby (I am now 40) this is the best site I have ever been on.
I have a six year old daughter and it is always a struggle to find a site that has things for her (playground/pool/etc) without the commercial plastic (caberat/park mascot/alco-pop crowd)that I abhor. This site is perfect.
Several fields, each with showers and washing up facilities which are cleaned vigorously every day. There is even free electricity for hairdryers and straighteners! One of the shower blocks was so nice I almost expected to find a spa round the corner. I didn't find a spa but I did find a couple of 'family rooms' which had a fixed baby seat and a bath! What joy!
The play areas are great: spread around the site, including a pool and baby pool (but unfortunately these were freezing!), toddler play area, mini-assault course/wooden play area. They also had a great nature trail with clues to take you round the site and a fantastic craft centre where we went a couple of times to paint pottery and photoframes.
The staff in the reception, the shop, the bar and cafe were wonderful and you really felt they were there to provide a good service and that they enjoyed working there.
We were taken to our pitch and provided with fire stones for our bbq. We were told about the facilities and just felt they would do anything in their power to help. There were always people busy doing something to better the site. So despite this not being the cheapest site you felt that your money was actually going back into the site not into their pockets!
The shop provided almost everything that you could want, although a Morrisons and Sainsburys were a short drive away. Also within five mins was Paignton Zoo (fabulous) and other attractions to fill your days.
Cafe was great and full English breakfast is highly recommended.
I will definitely being going back!

We have just returned from a 2 week stay at the park. It rained for the duration of our stay. This did not spoil our experience at the park. The staff are lovely, the Granary is great for the kids we took a 3 year old and 13 year old, the 13 year old was off with friends he made at the park and the 3 year old loved the kids disco and entertainment in the evenings. The added bonus of a couple of wins at bingo was also great.
The area is lovely visited Brixham and Torquay which where both around 20 mins drive, Woodlands theme park is a must with the kids and the park provide discount vouchers for this and many other days out.
We stayed in Orchard pitching area, the showers where lovely and clean, constant hot water and the added bonus of a family room with bath.
Washing up facilities great as was chemical disposal unit.
The pool area looked lovely didn't use it however due to weather. Laundry was great did all my laundry before returning home.
The only down side to the park was the sloping pitches we struggled to peg our awning as we where on a slope and other guests reported snapped awning poles due to the slopes.
I will be visiting the park next year as I took a note of all the flat level pitches before we left.
This is a great park with great location, facilities great with kids in mind, large pitching areas with a real family feel.

Myself,Husband and 3 children (11,7&5) have just returned from our 10 day holiday at Whitehill. Our children loved it and there was plenty for them to do even when the weather was not so good. They got good use of the outdoor swimming pool, amusment barn and craft centre which is all on site. There was also several little playgrounds scattered about the site. The sites supermarket was open til 9 at night and was reasonably priced with plenty of stock. We ate at the sites cafe once on Curry night but was not overly impressed with the food and preferred eating out in Torquay where there was ample choice of resturants. Brixham is also very close and well worth a visit. We took the children crabbing which was great fun. The site also offer discount tickets for certain attractions which is worth a look at in reception.
Both the site itself and its amenities were very clean and the shower rooms were warm with plenty of hot water. Staff were all friendly and helpful and we had ample space for our tent, van windbreakers and various other bits and pieces.
There was evening entertainment for both children and adults and bingo every night if that's your thing.
Overall a good holiday was had by all.
Just 1 groan. We were camping in 'Great Orchard' and it was on a hill. It was really irritating that when we entered our tent we ended up nearly running down to the end of it and everything slid off our tables including dinner plates because we were not on level ground. So do make sure you take pieces of wood with you to level tables etc!

Just returned from our second visit to this site, just as good as it was 4 years ago! Toilet blocks clean and serviced every day (except bank holiday). Pool still freezing even in august! Shop still well stocked even though it was due to close end of September. A little bit fed up with the fact that with an almost empty site, someone was pitched next to me, didn't mind, but for the fact they insisted on parking their car so that it blocked me in! Specifically chose my pitch to be as far from the toilets due to late night noise, but lo and behold a group clustered near the toilets and playground continued to make noise well into the small hours. When I asked the morning after, the office said they would look into it and nothing changed the night after. It seems that the warden patrols leave the larger groups alone. All in all though, a fantastic holiday on a fantastic site! we will be returning (AGAIN)

We have just returned from a 2 week holiday at Whitehill, on the whole the site has many plus points. The view from our pitch was stunning, we where near the top of a large hill, (sweet hill) the price for this stunning view was it was always windy sometimes very windy! we were also on a steep slope. The shower blocks where at the bottom of the hill, this was fine on the way down but once you had a shower you needed another one after the hike back up the hill! The showers were clean but a little bit old and dated, the hot water was not always available before 8 am was ok and after tea was usually ok the site was full but out of the 14 mornings I ended up having at least 6 cold showers.
The pool was clean and always in use our 3 used it and said it was fine once you got in!
The take away was reasonable but only used it once.We had a breakfast on the last day before our journey home it was very good value. The site is in a lovely location Goodrington sands is a really nice beach and the site is well positioned for Torquay Brixham and Paignton. There is loads to do in the area, the reception has loads of leaflets and ideas. Paignton Zoo was very good too.
We had a really good holiday helped by some warm dry weather, we probably wouldn't use this site again as the cold showers and the wind were a pain, but the biggest problem for us was the noise on a night. We didn't use the bar or the kids disco preferring to sit outside the tent with a glass of wine and play card games ect with the children, but a lot of people there let the children hang around the bar/take way area or run around the tents with footballs till quite late on a night. There didn't seem to have any sort of warden or security just to keep the noise down a bit. I'm not a killjoy and I know people are on holiday but I do think it could have been a bit calmer on a night.

I think I must be the only person to disagree with the other reviewers on this site! On arriving at the site we were not welcomed with a smile, on being shown to our pitch we were asked not to set up where it was flat but to set up on the slope as they wanted the grass to grow back. Not ideal, it also meant that we couldn't make full use of the pitch (in fairness we were quite lucky as the pitch was right by some trees) The site has pitches crammed in and if you were hoping for any peace and quiet then this is definitely not the camp site for you. There was noise, family parties and very active children running round the campsites and pitches from 7.00am till well after 11pm.
The showers and toilets were not clean on our first day and there was no hot water in the male or female showers, on the second day we made sure we were in there for half 7 and it was a lot better.
The campsite is close to Paignton (closer to Goodrington) however the road down to Paignton is very narrow and would not be ideal for walking down. Luckily there is a bus but you have to be back on site early, a taxi is not too expensive at £7 if you fancy a change. The Hayloft bar on site is a great addition, the staff are really friendly.
This is definitely a site for families

Just got back from a week at Whitehill and have to say I was very impressed. Good size pitch for our tent, you have to specify the size of tent when booking.Showers and toilets were always very clean, even though they could do with a bit of an upgrade.
Loads of facilities on site, two bars, take-away,shop, swimming pool, arcade.
Site is very well located, watch out for the narrow lane leading to the site, some people do not understand what the passing lay-bys are for. Paignton, Torquay and brixham all within 7 miles of the site plus there are loads of other thing to do.
Will definitely be returning next year.
