The site sounded great £21.00 per night plus £10.00 deposit for keys.

It is a very pretty site with pond etc. We were allocated a hard standing. On arrival at the pitch it was obvious that a static home had been on the stand and recently moved. The electric point had been knocked over and left in a mess (unusable), the water pipes were out of the ground. Next too us was a compound with a jcb, dumper truck, tractor, piles of pipes etc.

Both mornings we were awoke by construction workers who were laying pipes and demolishing old buildings. We spent 2 days surrounded by smoke watching old buildings burn.

No mobile phone reception & the site phone did not work.

The bar Manager is very nice and helpful.

We have visited this site a few times during early 2010 and always enjoyed it, there is a free swimming pool and free fishing.

In the bar they have a Wii for the kids and cabaret on a weekend. The showers and toilets are quite clean and the showers are free.

Over the winter there has been some drainage work going on and the demolition of some bungalows on the site, I feel when booking we should have been warned about the ongoing works.

The pitches we were always allocated were very muddy.

In summary Cawood is a nice park, the pitches a bit small and muddy, some of the staff especially the bar staff are excellent.

Just spend a lovely couple of days at Cawood Holiday Park. Had a bit of a nightmare of a journey to get to the camp site. Came down the B1222 from York. The roads are very narrow. When you come into Cawood you should turn right at the junction at the post office onto Rythergate. Warning this turning is to tight even for the smallest caravan. Our caravan is 20ft and we could not get round. If you are going to this caravan park I would suggest coming in to the park the top end from Tadcaster the roads are a lot better.

Pulled into the reception and the staff are lovely. The shop sells the basic food and newspapers. The pitch we were on was small, but due to been disabled had to be near the toilet block. .

The site is so pretty even in the middle of Feb. The pool and club house is great. The toilet block was very clean and tidy. The showers were hot and powerful. They have a disabled toilet but no shower which is a shame. The site looks like they have spent a lot of money doing every thing up to a high standard. The pond in the middle of the site is lovely but bring your own rod as they don't hire them out. The only down side to the park is that they could do with hard standings and a bit more spread out.

I would recommend this site to any one and we could not really complain as the price is very very good and it's all in no extras for the children dogs or awnings

Thank you Cawood holiday Park for a lovely break will see you soon.

We stayed on this site in february 2010 on arrival we did not think the owners were very polite and matter of fact attitude after a long journey this did not help! We were located next to the toilet block on a very muddy pitch.

The elsan waste was high up & very difficult to to empty our grey water & toilet waste into. The toilets were also very poor. We decided after two days we were not prepared to put up with this very poor site and left. Before leaving we pointed out all the problems we experienced with the site to the owner who was very disinterested with any of comments. We would not recommend this site because of the poor owners & conditions of the site.

Just got home from a really lovely, if somewhat chilly!, weekend at Cawood Park. All I can say is that it was absolutely great. The reception is bright and airy, the lady on reception is approachable and very friendly and gave us some great advice on where to eat locally, we went to the Castle pub in the village and it was lovely, a real diverse menu, homecooked and not overpriced, it would be a nice walk on a summer evening, but we took the car and it took about three/four minutes to get there!

We got a decent sized pitch opposite the toilet block and got set up with no problems. Plenty of hook up points and water about.

Toilet blocks were nice and clean with good strong push button showers.

Went to the clubhouse on both nights, great male singer on Friday and a band on saturday. The clubhouse is very fresh and modern and has a separate 'conservatory' style seating area adjacent to the bar, with contemporary furniture and some outside seating for warmer nights! We had our 14 year old son with us, but children under 14 have to leave the clubhouse at 10.15pm. My husband said the bar prices were reasonable at approx £ 2.50 per pint.

Had a swim in the pool Saturday morning, you do need to book a slot with the reception as they restrict it to 8, as it is quite small, but it is fresh and clean with nice big changing cubicles.

We travelled to the Park & Ride at the designer outlet (takes about 15mins)and went into York Saturday afternoon, £ 2.30 return for an adult and free for kids. Much easier and cheaper than trying to find city centre parking. We went to the Castle Museum and our family ticket (for 3) at £ 16.50 is valid for a year !

The park operates a one way system and the 'out' direction runs down between to good open grassed spaces which are for ball games, but there is no play area with play equipment.

You need a £10 to leave a deposit for the loo key and the barrier card, which is refunded when you leave.

The only negative I have is that if the site is to be open all year round they could do with investing in hardstanding for tourers as the ground looked like it could get very muddy! We were ok as it was 'frozen ground' this weekend !

All in all this is a great little site and we were very impressed at everything, the price at £21 per night is all in, no extras which is another bonus, I hate having to pay extra for children, extra for the awning etc.One pitch one price, perfect! and at £ 25 for bank hols what more can you ask for.

Just one last thing though. Sshhhhhhh.Keep it quiet and don't tell everyone !

Top place,, very friendly cant fault the place. Toilets and showers very good. Pond frozen, never mind. 10/10 I'll be back as soon as I can we loved it. There is a little shop selling the basics. Club on site, see the rules and check out the acts. No take aways in the village but ask at the office and they have menus of places that will bring food to the gate. Lovely well spaced out pitches, water taps everywhere. Take a long power cable you might need it, very safe site.

We stayed on this site for the whole of November (weekends only ) we left the van during the week at no extra charge. The lady on reception was polite and helpful. The site has a small indoor pool, we found this useful as this is the only thing on the site for kids. We went to the club house on Saturday night and were told to leave at 10pm even though our daughter was sat quietly watching the turn!

We had rain during the month we were on the site and to be honest it was very muddy with big puddles everywhere.

I would return again, (on a discounted weekend summer months only though )

Just returned from a 4 night stay at this site, well what can I say, great value for money, £72 for 4 nights, great site, great facilities. We arrived Friday night and received a lovely welcome at reception, everything was explained and we were given a site map to find our pitch. We were also given a loyalty card which was stamped and 4 stamps entitles you to a free weekend stay. There is a £10 returnable deposit for the toilet and shower block key. They were clean and tidy and there was always hot water. We went to this site for the fishing and my husband and son were not disappointed, caught absolutely loads of fish, some quite big ones, although they tried for 4 days to catch the elusive pike without success, although it did keep teasing them with its occasional appearance, just to let them know it was there! There is an indoor swimming pool which was really nice and was limited to about 8 people at a time which was great. There is a club house with entertainment at weekends, prices were o.K. There are a few sited caravans but not too many and they seemed really friendly. Although this is not an adult only site I would say because of the very large deep lake it is possibly not suitable for younger children and they will need to be watched, there is no play area but there are fields for them to play in. We will definitely be returning to this site in the near future. A*

We really loved this site. It was in a lovely setting near to York and Selby with lots of places to visit in the area.

The staff were helpful and the bar was welcoming. The entertainment was good. The pool was clean and the kids loved it, along with the shop which was well stocked.

Toilets were clean and tidy.

Most pitches were ample size but we got the smallest one on the site and were not able to use the awning, or park the car properly. It was right next to the toilet block so not the best view! Having said that, we would go back again, but would book in plenty of time to not get the same pitch again.

Loved every minute at this site, free fishing, free swimming pool, very clean toilets and showers.

There was a clubhouse on site, which we didn't go to, but by all accounts was really good and with entertainment on most weekends.

Although there was plenty of caravans on site, it just seemed so quiet and peaceful, and the kids also loved it and are already pestering to go back, at £19 per night with ehu and the facilities on site, I thought was excellent value, we will definitely be retuning in the very near future.
