I am just back this great site this afternoon and I must say what a great revamp it has had. I was told to go here by a close friend who has taken her motor home there and we were not disappointed. This is only the second time that we have toured our caravan but we liked it so much we booked a extra night. Both our children enjoyed it too. Its a all rounder too great for family's or the older end that just want to ponder. There is a large lake in the middle full of lots of fish. One guy was pulling them in every 5mins but my son took a good hour lol. There is a large play field, we did walk our dogs around this too but used our doggie bags and very pleased to say the whole camp used then too.Not once did I spot any mess. There is lots of fields adjacent to dog walk but we did not find anywhere to let them run. The toilets were kept very clean and the showers were very powerful and hot. They do go off quickly but no hard ship in turning around in my eyes and re-pressing. There is also 2 cubicles to wash and dress in. You need a key for this which you leave £10 deposit on entry at reception. Also there is a room with four kitchen sinks in the wash up and prepare veg in, also very clean. The waste for the chemical dunnies etc has its own room but hubby said the flush bowl was a little high when lifting the waste master. In the reception there is a small shop, stocking all the main essentials. I could not believe we forgot the coffee and bought some the morning after. Not silly prices either. Adjacent to the reception also is the new revamp swimming pool. You go in via the reception and leave your shoes on a rack then change, use a locker and shower before your swim. All very very clean. This looks very small from the outside but in fact is larger when your in it and we had a nice swim. There is also a club house on the site also revamped and very nice with a beautiful conservatory which looks over the lake. They have music acts on at the weekend and some nights under 14 have to leave at 10.15 and some nights they may stay till closing. The conservatory also has a large flat screen TV on the wall that was on. The staff are all very friendly and also are the seasonal tourers we met. All vans around the site are kept clean and the whole place which is still under development was pleasure to visit. There was quite a few caravans on but you still felt the feeling of space. Been a city girl I am still getting used to the twitcher dream at 5.30 and found out this time that Mr robin the bird I love, is in fact one of the noisy ones, but so cute to look at lol. Apparently if you feed the small amount of ducks they come knocking on your door the day after too.
The town Cawood is quite small and we only found one shop, but still a nice walk. Selby is only 10mins away in a car and they have a sainsburys. Go right out of the park-through the lights-left at the first round about and then follow the road to Selby. Its really sign posted the rest of the way. I hope my review helped and if your like us just wanting some peace and quite from smogg city and maybe a quite friendly beer we are sure you will like it too.

Myself and my family stayed at Cawood and we thoroughly enjoyed it. They have very good entertainment on Friday and Saturday nights. The toilets and showers are clean and spacious. There is no shop there at present however there is a shop approx half a mile away which sells most things you'll need. The caravan site is close to Selby and York for days out. We love the lake with its small fountain in the centre. Staff are very friendly and helpful. I think it would benefit from having a children's play area on site. Lovely quiet site for relaxing on!

The caravan site is about 10 mins walk from Cawood itself which has 3 pubs, all serving food to an average standard. Only 1 mile away in Ryther there is a lovely pub serving fantastic food with very large portions.
Cawood Park is set in lovely surroundings with most touring pitches overlooking the beautiful lake, Which is well stocked for all the fishermen out there.
So all good so far then.
The touring pitches themselves are very small and we found our neighbours sat inches away from our caravan on most days. Also many of the pitches are taken by seasonal tourers. Which makes for an empty park apart from weekends.
The site has a swimming pool which looks like its been closed for a long time and a club which is tatty to say the least.
The toilets and showers are old with just one soap dispenser in the gents which looks like its been broken for years. One more poor point is the fact that there is only one place to empty your grey waste which involves trying to lift your 40 ltr container into an old toilet! So if your not a weight lifter forget it!

I am sorry to say we booked for a month to stay at Cawood and were bitterly disappointed. I think if you have a caravan you would be happier here because our only view for the month was the toilet block, where as caravans were situated in much nicer surrounds. You can only get papers at the weekend and the shop didn't really have any good stock. Sorry to be down hearted but I just wanted to be truthful and say don't go if you have a motor home. I only booked for the whole month because the advert said swimming pool and well stocked shop and there was neither. If you had access to a car and were parked in a different spot it would be a different kettle of fish.

We stayed at cawood holiday park for our first family camping trip. We found the site to be very clean and staff friendly & helpful. There was a small shop on site stocking a few basics. The toilets and showers were lovely and clean and the showers were free with an abundance of hot water. The pool was out of use (this was July!) but looked rather small anyway. The clubhouse had evening entertainment with live acts but be warned children have to be out of there by 10pm so you didn’t get to see all the entertainment if you have children with you. There are a couple of local pubs which are a lovely 10min walk away where food is also served and children are welcome. A nice site with a fishing lake for those who like to fish. There is no children’s play area & we found all the kids gathered in the middle of the camping field to play ball games etc, but not a problem as they were all well behaved and supervised. A pleasant say at a nice site.

Just returned from a weekend at Cawood park. We enjoyed our stay and would go back. The toilets and showers were very clean, the staff were friendly, there isn't a play area for the kids but there is plenty of space on the tenting site to play on. The clubhouse has entertainment on Fri / Sat, but the downside is that the kids have to be out by 10.pm, There is a huge lake and there seemed to be quite a few people fishing, be warned the cash machine is miles away! which we found out to our cost.
A great little campsite and definitely recommended.

My family and I have just had a great 3 nights at Cawood. On the plus side the toilets and showers were spotless, and the club on site is great for a quite drink in the evening. Prices weren't bad either. The lake is nice and the kids enjoyed feeding the ducks. The site is about 10 miles from York, so great for a weekend break. We paid £20 a night which is not bad as we have three children and often pay more. On the downside the pitch was a bit muddy, as we were on grass and we had some rain. Also there is no play area, so the kids were a bit confined to the caravan. Overall I would recommend this site as a great place to stay if you want to visit York. We will definitely visit again.

Just had a wet and cold weekend at Cawood. Nice site, very quiet with a large lake in the middle. Some good walks nearby for the dog and only 15 miles or so from York. We were on a grass pitch so with all the rain made a bit of a bog (hard standing next time). The only negative was the toilet block which was ageing. If that doesn't bother you then its a good site for the family although no playground for the kids.

Just enjoyed a fantastic 2 night stay at cawood, it was our first time camping since we've had kids and this campsite was perfect. Our pitch was a good size and the field in the middle was excellent for the kids. All facilities were good and the music in the "clubhouse" was excellent on both nights.
The owner of the site was very helpful and kind, especially trying to start our car after a flat battery! We will definatley return to this site soon and I would disagree with other reviews and say this site was very child unfriendly.

Just returned from a weekend visit and had a really good time. Plenty of room to pitch tent and park car at side. Large, level tent field and clean shower block. Shower block had electricity points but wasn't working in ladies. Bar was great, kids had to leave at 10:00 (acts don't start until 9:00 though!). There's a games room for kids next to the bar also. Didn't try the pool but it didn't look open anyway. Went to waterworld and had a good day out in York. Definately worth a visit.
