Stayed at the site and had a superb break.
Site itself is good, sloping with terraces. We were a little disappointed being at the bottom of the slope, but thankful later in the stay when the bad weather and gales hit!
Toilet block looked new, and clearly one of best facilities I have seen. Excellent finish, kept spotless, more than enough facilities.
Indoor sinks / kitchen area was popular for campers with views across countryside.
Site has a small indoor and outdoor pool - did not try either but looked good enough.
Local area is good with plenty to see and do. Cannot miss a trip to the Needles, also, great restaurant in Yarmouth called ' on the rocks' - If you like steaks you will love this.

Found the site a little disappointing after reading the reviews and can only conclude it very much depends on the pitch allocated. Despite booking early and paying extra for a pitch with awning etc. The space we were allocated was small and barely wide enough to fit a tent between the road/track and the hedge. Parts of the pitch had more holes than the local roads so were unusable. Some other pitches around the site however were large with open spaces next to them so be careful to check when you book.
That said, the toilet/cleaning facilities are the best I have seen and the take away on site is tasty and good value for money. Site is very clean and generally quiet after 10pm. Location is excellent, especially if you fancy a walk in the countryside.
Only other gripe is that there is a charge for the indoor pool (£5 per family) and you have to pay every time you walk in the door. Outdoor pool was not heated when we were there (how do they make it that cold?).
Kids loved it and would go back if I could choose the pitch.

We have just got back from a 2 week stay at the Orchards and thoroughly enjoyed it. Of course the good weather was a added bonus.
I would say that the site is more than 'gentle sloping' and I know that some caravans experienced some difficulty when trying to get their caravans level and also pulling onto and off a pitch, but with help from other campers which was always readily available, they managed.
We were staying with friends and asked for large pitches close to one and other and got two fabulous pitches where we could set up facing each other and so make a communal area in the middle.
The staff were very friendly and helpful the whole time we were there.
The facilities on this site are 110%. Really impressed. The site was very busy but never had to wait for a shower and they were kept immaculate. You have a choice of either a cubicle with a shower and sink unit or a cubicle with just a sink if you just want to wash.
The washing up area overlooked the beautiful countryside (husband didn't mind washing up at all). There is also a place for hand clothes washing if you prefer not to use the washing machines. £4 for a wash, 20pence for about 10 mins in the tumble dryer and 40pence for the spin dryer. The irons and ironing boards are free of charge.
The surrounding area is lovely and we did plenty of walking - purchased a book called 'Walk Isle of Wight' before we left on Amazon and completed three of the walks in the book. Took us through some lovely countryside which you wouldn't see by car. Be prepared though, Isle of Wight is very hilly and some of the climbs were quite steep.
We used the take-away on site once whilst there. Not bad prices and the food ok but we had to wait a while for the food.
We didn't use the indoor pool as the weather was so nice we could use the outdoor one. It was heated and very pleasant to relax in.
The site shop is well stocked and very reasonable for a campsite shop. For larger shops we drove into Newport and used Morrisons.
The other plus about this site is that it was very quiet after 10pm. Everyone seemed to respect this and it was amazing how quiet the site became after dark.
I would definitely recommend this site to anyone and hopefully we will go back ourselves. We still have loads to see on the Island.
Would recommend, Godshill, Shanklin beach and Old Village (we took the lift up to the town from the beach and then walked back down through
Shanklin Chine), the Garlic Farm and The Needles.

I can only re-iterate what everybody else has said about the site. Well looked after, superb and clean facilities.
Most of the pitches seem to be sloping or slightly sloping, but nothing to worry about and it seemed as if everybody coped.
Nice quiet countryside location, not disturbed by road noise, only by the wildlife!
I would go back here again.

We had never been to the Isle of Wight before and were looking forward to seeing the island. We did a special with Red Funnel ferries and picked the Orchards as our camp site, after all a 5 star site should be good?
After a 45 minute drive over to the west side of the island we found the Orchards, a little distance from anything I have to say. But we did not know the island and thought it was a good location for exploring.
I found it a little strange that we were shown to our pitch. At first I thought it a nice touch, but upon being given a grass pitch at the bottom of the site and on a very steep slope you can imagine I was not happy with the pitch at all. I went up to reception and asked if we could be moved I was willing to pay extra if I had to. I was told nothing available, as they were busy, yet I saw pitches that were not occupied until 2 days after our arrival! I only saw two others shown to their pitches, I think if you do a special you get the left over pitches!
You will need to take levellers to this site, something we did not have, when asked if the shop had any we were told ‘no they had sold out’, but they had some bricks we could use?
In the caravan club book it say ‘gently slopping paddocks’! I would hate to see their definition of steep?
Eventually we got set up and the van nose in the grass to level us up a little and bricks behind the wheels to stop us rolling away!
I do not know what makes this site 5 star??? Could someone explain? Great new shower/toilet block, a good walk if you are at the bottom of the site and the only place to empty your chemical loo waste. Nice pools too I suppose if you want to use them.
So in all I would give it 1 star for the new toilet block, 1 star for the shop/take away and 1 star for the pools…. Other than that it is a field with some trees in it.
The pitches are small and if busy, trying to get your van off site could be a problem with parked cars in front of vans. Very cramped on the terraces from what I could see.
Overall, the west side of the island is very quiet and the Orchards in the middle of nowhere. Nearest pub is a mile and half away and quite expensive for very average food, so if you want to eat out you always have to drive. I would not rate this site so highly as others or rave about it being 5 stars, it is a shame they did not spend some money on the pitches then it would have been maybe pushing a 4 star

Terrific site! Absolutely loved it. Extremely good Toilet/Shower block with excellent launderette facilities. Even a separate Baby Washing room with a dedicated belfast sink & changing area.
Great little shop selling a good range (but not much in the way of fresh meat apart from sausages and bacon and limited fruit & veg so go prepared).
The takeaway was very good value indeed with a range of food from Pizzas, Burgers, Fish & Chips and even healthier options like Chicken with Wholegrain Pasta and Ham with Roasted Veg & New Pots.
Lovely indoor and outdoor pools - the latter being free of charge. Will be very keen to go back again! Staff were warm and friendly and escorted each unit to it's allotted pitch.
Overall - 10/10. Plus of course the weather over half term was unbelievably good which always helps!

The site is excellent and we could not find any faults, the outdoor swimming pool is excellent and and a very warm welcome to cool off when the weather is hot.
The new toilet block and showers are also excellent and very clean and airy and the dishwashing area is brilliant you can stand and wash up looking out to fields of sheep. If you don't mind being in the countryside away from the hustle and bustle then this site is perfect.
Every morning we awake to birds talking sheep bleating and cows mooing and we must not forget the cockerels. The site is very child friendly and the tent pitches vary from small to extra large and we had a vermont xl tent and still had plenty of room.
I would definitely book again and because they can organise the ferry booking it helps make the whole booking experience very easy. An excellent site and worth people booking a holiday there.
My family highly recommend it, well done the orchards for giving us a wonderful holiday and something we will remember for a long while and definitely recommend to fellow campers.

A very large site, with the best toilet/washing facilities that I have ever seen.
Lovely views and very quiet despite the numbers on site. Great for kids and close to some great attractions.
Some terraced sites difficult to get on to and staff don't help. Problem with rats from the river coming for left over dog food outside tents / caravans, don't leave any (problem solved)
Staff are helpful if you go to find them, but are rarely seen out on site.
Will be visiting again soon.

We stayed at The Orchards for the first week of the Easter holidays. We did book well in advance and let them arrange our ferry booking so we were hoping everything would all work out well! We need not have worried, the travel went smoothly and we did turn up very early for our pitch but they sited us straight away.
The site is lovely, the facilities are wonderful, I have never come across a more up market toilet block, fantastic! We only used the indoor pool once, it was nice as we went at a quiet time.
The takeaway was a bit slow, got our order wrong twice so only tried it the once. There was a playground and it looked ok but our teenage Daughter didn't want to use it! Everyone seemed friendly on the site and we had a laugh with a few of our fellow campers.
The Isle of Wight is a great place to stay, where else can you see Bird of Prey as a normal sight on a short drive! We are definitely going to book The Orchards for a week next Easter. Cant wait

Our visit to this site was a last minute decision. There was plenty of space on the site and we were tucked in a quiet corner. The staff were friendly and efficient.
There are a lot of static caravans here, but we could not see them from the touring side of the site. The site is terraced and there are fabulous views of the surrounding rolling countryside.
The washing facilities are exceptional and my only criticism would be the taped music in the toilet block.
The site was a little too manicured for our taste but nevertheless we spent a very peaceful couple of days here.
This is a great site from which to explore the west side of the island. We'd certainly go back.
