We found this a very clean, well maintained holiday park. Reception was open 8. 30 till 8. 00 so very accessible, and it was manned by friendly helpful people, nothing was too much trouble.
The grass was always well mowed, and we saw not one piece of litter in the ten days we were there.
The toilets and showers we found to be modern and very clean.
Although we have no children the play area was adequate, and well used.
We were given the usual paperwork on arrival for do's and don'ts, which included. 'All children to be inside their caravan and tent by 10. 30' We've never seen this before, but it worked! The site was very peaceful, and we felt safe as there was a barrier at the entrance only activated by your own pass key.
Water taps were readily available and electric hook ups close to each pitch.
AS far as pubs being nearby, the nearest one on the main road about half a mile away was VERY expensive, (£4. 20 a pint) but there is another one a little further away The Ship Inn which is more of a country pub.
Shops very handy, Asda and Tesco about ten minutes up the main road. (And a Maccies and a Pizza Hut even nearer)
Well located for Mevagissey and Helston and Looe only about 45 minutes away.
A very enjoyable stay and would recommend to anyone.

Spent 4 days here, meeting by brother and his family who had arrived a few days earlier. Pitches are good size, water taps every few tents, facilities were 5*. Never had to queue for either a shower or the toilet. Plenty for the kids to do, and nice size grassed area where all the kids mingled to play football and cricket.
A very pleasant stay. Will definitely go again.
Thoroughly recommend.

This site was just right for us. We visited in early July 2012, with a touring caravan, for 8 nights. A well maintained site with good facilities. A fairly small site but this was an advantage, not a disadvantage. The swimming pool is a bonus, something you wouldn't normally find on a site of this size, and there is no charge to use it.
Toilet facilities and washing up area are top notch. Pitches are a good size but choose an outside pitch when booking. It's also worth booking a larger pitch. Although near the road, noise wasn't constant so didn't spoil the holiday. Our only negative comment is the children's play area - fine if your children are over 5. Our daughter couldn't get up to the slide and there wasn't a swing. The site is perfectly located for days out.
Pentewan Sands is 5 minutes drive down the road, where there is no charge to park and the beach is the best anywhere. There is a large commercial campsite there with an indoor swimming pool (charge) and a soft play suite (free). You can also use their bar facilities and get a nice lunch/evening meal there too. Well worth a day out without the traffic headaches.
St Austell, 5 mins away, is a good size town with several of the larger stores and there is an Asda and Tesco within easy drive of the site. We visited Dairyland and Eden Project. Both worth a visit.
Staff are very friendly and helpful, even putting a blackboard up with 'things to do' out & about, on a daily basis. No shop on site but a very useful shop opposite site entrance, sells provisions and newspapers.
We will definitely go back again next year, as didn't get around to hiring a bike from the site and cycling to Pentewan! NB. Earlier reviews complain about the badly placed B&B sign at the entrance. We spoke to the site owners about it, who told us as the sign belongs to the B&B, they can't do anything and complaints should be directed at the B&B owners themselves.

Just wanted to concur on the previous positive reviews. Tidiest and friendliest site we've ever been.
Also very well thought out and attention to details: the (large) pitches have a gravel area which meant we stayed dry despite a very wet weather, radio in the bathroom and washing up area, plenty of water taps, bins and recycling facilities.
The kids loved the play areas especially the zip wire (and sweets sold in the shop!).
There is a very relaxed atmosphere with everybody talking to each other and the owners are always on hand for any help or tips.
Also it is a perfect base to all the major attractions if like us the beach weather eluded you!

Site was off a busy main road but once on the site there was no obvious noise other than the wildlife arrived very early after travelling 9 hours overnight, the lady on reception arrived around 8. 20am and was more than welcoming allowing us to pitch our tent so we could get some rest.
The site had fantastic facilities which included a covered swimming pool, great play area for the kids, and a small games room (did feel that £1 for a game of pool was very expensive). The shower block had great facilities, the ladies had 4 self contained showers all of which had a dressing area and lovely hot water, small gripe of them being on a timer so had to keep pressing the button to restart shower however they were inclusive in the price, the blocks were always spotless and even had nice touches such as fresh flowers, there was a hairdryer also free but not great I have short hair and it took ages to dry! 3 ladies loos which again were spotless and well stocked.
All the pitches were hardstanding so makmede sure you have rock pegs for your tent and a groundsheet and all had EHU inclusive in the price. We had some of the worst weather with torrential rain most days and gale force winds for 3 days, our tent stood up to this but we left after 12 days rather than the 14, the staff on the site could not have been more apologetic but they cant control the weather.
The site is walkable to a lovely restaurant which also has a bar and a lovely outdoor seating area, with a local pub approximately 15 minutes walk who also serve food. St Austell is approximately 25 minutes walk with all the facilities of a town including a train station.
I would return to this site if we lived closer or we could depend on British weather!

Very pleasantly greeted on arrival, site shop nicely stocked. Very clean & tidy site kept well maintained, toilet/shower block always kept clean & toilet rolls changed daily by the looks.
A nice play area for the kids is always an advantage, as well as a nice pool (covered). Pleasant dog walk along the riverside behind the site, and not too far from asda (around 10mins away).
Par market is the week-end visiting attraction, a massive indoor market well stocked with allsorts.
Megavissey, a great little harbour for an evenings walk around & a fish supper is highly recommended here.
Newquay around 25/30 mins away, nice beaches there too. Have just had a week here & sure would return, a great place to stay all round.

We have visited this site before (3 years ago) so just wanted to update with a more recent review.
The site has obviously grown in popularity as it was very difficult to get a pitch, so if you are looking to come here I would recommend booking very early and don't chance turning up hoping to get a last minute pitch.
Site still very clean and tidy. Pitches are a decent size and all hardstanding. NO motorhome point/waste disposal.
Showers are as clean as I remember them last time. Annoyingly this is also where I have a few minor moans ~ the loo would not flush in the ladies, bearing in mind this was 6. 30 am in the morning and I was the only person in there (so should be no excuse for water pressure!) I had to flush 3 times and still it would not flush the waste away.
The shower in the private bathroom is so powerful and the shower head is so high that I felt that the water was going over the top of me rather than actually washing ME, so the area outside of the cubicle door was wet.
The 'squeegee' mop in the ladies is not sufficient enough - when you have squeegee'd dirt, grass & wet into one corner with the squeegee where are you supposed to put it?! A proper mop with a bucket would be much better that could be rinsed out and the dirt got rid of.
Another gripe which was not the site's fault was the dog owner on the adjacent pitch never tethered their dog, and was running around adjoining pitches doing it's business which is very annoying when you have 2 of your own dogs who are tethered barking at the dog coming onto our pitch.
The chip shop over the road is still closed. Shop is still open and handy for essentials.
To sum up - still great value for money, ideal family site for those who want a quiet holiday but within close drive to St Austell, the coastal resorts of Mevagissey and Gorran Haven.

Stayed for two nights when the weather was miraculously very good and really liked this site. Very peaceful and attractive with a lovely little river walk.
Pitch sizes are very generous with nice plants around so good views from our tent. Excellent shower and loo facilities, all very clean and lots of hot water.
Swimming pool looked great though didn't use it on this occasion. Very pleasant and helpful owners and we will definitely be going back if it ever stops raining!

Another fantastic week at this family run holiday park.
This is our third visit to River Valley and yet again nothing has changed, we had caravan number 6 this time as there were only my wife and I.
The park is spotlessly clean, the caravans are stunning, swimming pool wonderful, staff are absolutely brilliant, nothing is too much trouble.
We have been going to Cornwall for over twenty years and this is by far the best holiday park we have ever stayed at, that's why we keep coming back, we have met so many people here who return year after year due to the service, cleanliness condition of the holiday homes and the location.
No shop on site but there is a convenience store just outside the park entrance across the road which is all you need, sadly the little chippy that used to be next door to the shop has now closed but there's a great chippy a mile or so away near St Austell, Tesco, Asda and Lidl supermarkets less that two miles away so very convenient, no clubhouse so very peaceful during the evenings, plenty of small country pubs a short distance away in beautiful surroundings if you fancy a drink or a meal.
Marvelous swimming pool and great children's play area, touring site looks immaculate though we have never used it as we normally stay in a static caravan, small games room with a few machines and a couple of pool tables, little pets paddock at he side of the park with a couple of pigs and some chickens to entertain the kids for a while.
Lovely walk through the country side to Pentewan Sands.
The staff are extremely pleasant, I have never said good morning so many times in one week, River Valley has to be the best holiday park in the whole of Cornwall, I say this because we have stayed at most and the service at River Valley is second to none.
We normally stay at River Valley in May and go somewhere else in September for a week at a time but we have decide to forgo next September and stay two weeks at River Valley next May instead.
To all of the Clemo Family I say a massive thank you for making our holidays something to remember and please never never sell your park to anybody else, you have something unique.
Don't just take our word on how lovely this holiday park is, try it for yourself, you wont be disappointed
We have written two previous reviews on this wonderful holiday park and it just gets better every time we stay there, well done to all of the Clemo family.

Friendly staff, lovely clean and well equipped static, nice clean site and plenty for our 6 year old to do.
We have had a lovely week and would recommend this site - we have already booked two tenting breaks for later this year!
The pitches are hard standing and well spaced out as were the statics. You can cycle around the site on level well kept roads
The swimming pool was lovely and warm and clean -only the floor tiles were cold due to the time of the year!
Our daughter loved the play area which is in the middle of the site and could be seen I would say for the majority of pitches although not enough to be a nuisance if you didn't have little ones.
The site is well placed for cycling and visiting all of the local attractions
Can't wait to go back in June and July
