Very good site,
I had a lovely two weeks. The staff were very helpful including a sign outside reception with weather reports and ideas of what you can visit that day. The shower blocks were always very clean, the site is also clean and tidy with lots of regularly emptied bins, great recycling bins too.
The children's play areas were very good and well maintained with a great swimming pool which is free to use and a well constructed flying fox. The children will love the farm animals and aviary. The free internet room is also a bonus.
There is a dog walk on site although its only a trail along the river so doesn't take very long! There is a cycle path though that you can walk which is nice and I recommend the 45min walk to Pentewan Sands were you can have a couple of pints in the dog friendly Ship Inn. There is also a nice beach although you can't take dogs at peak times so we didn't spend much time on it. Be careful along the path to Pentewan - there are very boggy parts in the trees like quicksand and our dog got stuck in it up to his neck in black sludge!
St Austell is two miles away with a number of supermarkets and high street shops, well known restaurants and cinema, parking is very good in town centre.
Mevagissey is a few miles in the other direction. There is a bus service but is rather expensive. You can take the dog on the bus, again for a charge. There are some lovely shops, pubs, restaurants and a picturesque harbour with boat trips. Catch the ferry to Fowey - dog friendly.
We would definitely stay at River Valley again. Reasonably priced, clean, good facilities and friendly.

Another pleasurable visit to this little gemstone. Very private and quiet yet ideal for all ages. Excellent dog walk along the River St Austell.
A 4 mile round walk will take you to Pentewen village and back. Dogs loved it. Excellent clean swimming pool. The hard working wardens, if I can call them that, George and Steve are on hand to help. The Clemo family do their fair share. At reception you can buy eggs and jam but not much else.
The real problem is the extremely dangerously placed B&B sign for the farm next door. As you leave the site you turn right for St Austell. This stupid sign is directly in your field of vision. So you have to inch out, very dangerous. I actually witnessed a near miss.
Otherwise the place is in my book for a return visit.

An excellent site, spotlessy clean facilities and nice swimming pool. Marvellous for doggy holidays as the cycle path to Pentewan can be accessed direct from the site and takes you on a fab 3 mile walk or cycle through woods and alongside the river to the lovely village.
Good pub there too! No shop on site, but it doesn't really matter as there is one opposite the main entrance.. Only issue was if you want a meal out at night there is not a lot within walking distance, so you would have to drive and therefore can't partake in the wine!

I stayed at this site only for one night but it was very clean. Toilets were immaculate. The camp was nearly full and very popular with the cyclists as it is on the pentewan cycle trail. Nice walks from site.
Pitches were spacious but seemed a bit crammed in as people directly opposite and paths quite narrow inbetween. But overall it was a pleasant stay. No clubhouse but there is a pub just down the road. And a pool on site. We didn't use. Prices were reasonable.
Useful information was posted on board outside reception as to weather for day and suggestions of things to do in the area. A nice touch. Everything was well signposted,
Staff polite and friendly. A good site to visit close to all attractions eden, heligan and beaches.

I choose this camp site based on the reviews on this web site so its only fair that I add my own comments.
My wife was working in St Austell for a week so rather than her come home after the week, I came down to her and pitched the tent, hence needing a site near St Austell. In fact it ended up with my mum, daughter, son in law & 8 year old grandson joining us and we were lucky enough to have pitched both tents side by side even though the bookings wernt made at the same time.
I was impressed with the cleanliness of the site & especially its very sensible layout of the main facilities separating the static caravans from the touring park, unlike the site we have just returned from whereby the campers were in one corner & all the facilities were diagonally opposite. The amenities block were clean & I never had to wait for a shower cubicle although admittedly we were here before the schools break out. For a relatively small site I was pleasantly surprised to find it have a lovely indoor heated swimming pool which on one occasion we found ourselves to be the only ones in there. When a site has a swimming pool you would normally expect it to have some sort of food or drink outlet but this site doesn't. That never bothered me as I am happy to go to the supermarket (10 minutes up the road) for our supplies although there is a small shop opposite for basic supplies.
The site does have an outdoor play area & small indoor games room and the balance of facilities is just about right in my opinion. If you have kids who need entertaining 24/7 then you are better off looking at one of these sites with clubhouse/dosco/bar etc. If you like peace & quiet but with a a few quality facilities then this site has got it right.
In fact the only negative I have re this site (although many will see it as a positive) is that the pitches are hardstanding. Having always pitched on grass I phoned the site first for advice. They told me that normal pegs will be ok but they have other types we could use. Obviously the pegs that came with my tent (Peakland) didn't have enough steel in them as some of them bent before being fully inserted in to the ground. I ended up going to the newly opened yeomans outdoors camp shop in St Austell (this is where my wife was down here working) to buy some rock pegs.
What should have been an easy tent set up ended up taking a couple of hours and a lot of cursing.
Would this stop me going here again? No. We rarely return to the same site but if we were to holiday in this area again, I wouldn't bother looking for another site, I would just book this one ( & buy a few more rock pegs & bigger mallet).

A great little touring site. Well presented and well maintained. Mix of pitches and statics. Excellent indoor pool but take your sunglasses, its a bit like being in a greenhouse but still lovely. Be aware the pitches are mostly hardstand and this may cause problems when pegging down. Also, we had major problems with mozzies. After about 8pm our awning became 'Mozzie Hotel', this is probably due to the nearby water course.
Great location, close to supermarkets, caravan repair shop, and great beaches. Local shop has all your essentials as well as a local chippie but this seems to open and close on an as and when basis.
Warning! There is a big sign post at the entrance to the site which obscures the road to your right on exit and a sharp bend to the left limits the view of oncoming traffic. Ideally the sign needs to be moved or removed (owners please note). Beware when pulling out of this site.
I will definitely go back but with a big can of fly spray and plenty of jungle formula mozzie repellent.

What a great little find this site was, close to home too! Friendly check in on arrival and info given on doggie friendly walks, pubs and beaches in the area. This is a barriered site (£10 refundable deposit for the card) and the small touring site is a short drive through very well looked after statics. The pitches are large and hardstanding with EHU and great hedging/fencing makes your pitch feel very private.
The central toilet/shower block is small and the ladies have 2 individual shower rooms both with toilet and sink and another separate shower cubicle. 5 toilets and the same number of sinks complete the set up. Piped music (Radio 2) is a nice touch! There is also an undercover washing up area and a chemical disposal point. For those of you with kids there is a neatly kept playground. They also have an indoor pool for all to use (free of charge). The dog walk run along the river and is very pleasant.
The village itself (London Apprentice) doesn't have much, a small village store (nice fresh pasties!) and a fish and chip shop (closed during our visit!) both just outside the site.
A flat 40/45 min walk will take you into St Austell town via the sewage works (!) (OK if you need essentials, nothing to write home about if you don't!). In the other direction is the lovely Pentewan Valley Trail - 2.5 miles flat river/woodland walk into Pentewan (this beach is NOT doggie friendly). We caught the bus from there into Mevagissey and had a smashing Sunday roast in the Ship Inn (very doggie friendly).
Plenty of info in reception of things to do in the local area and a lovely area it is too. We will be back for as many long weekends as we can manage!

Wow what a great week we have had. I can not fault this site. It is fantastic. Clean tidy, quiet and beautifully laid out. We have stayed at many sites and this one is top of our list. Everything was perfect. There is one toilet block with separate male and female sections. The ladies had 3 toilets and two toilet/shower cubicles and one singe shower. This was plenty for the 45 pitches and there was always hot water no matter what time of day you went in. There is also a family bathroom and a disabled wet room all with piped music! The swimming pool is covered with door and windows that open in the hot weather with a small terrace with sunbeds. The water in the pool was a little cold but the children didn't mind. All the pitches are hard standing so remember you will need different tent pegs. Again a fantastic site.

We loved our bank holiday weekend stay at River Valley Holiday Camp. We used it as a perfect base for excursions around the St Austell and Mevagissey area, and it was ideal.
The site itself is immaculately clean, beautifully maintained by the staff, who are also extremely friendly and helpful.
We didn't arrive until late on our first night so they made sure we had easy access to our caravan, which is spacious and modern, and has all the modcons you could require.
It is a lovely site, with excellent shower facilities on-site for campers, and a games room, and it's very peaceful and tranquil during the evening.
It is also connected to a beautiful riverside cycle route, which we used for morning runs, and has local shops for your convenience.
We loved it here. Great value for money

Another weeks holiday comes to an end at this wonderful park.
We stayed here last September and it was faultless then so what more can I say about this beautiful park located in one of the most beautiful areas of Cornwall.
Just like last year the static caravan was spotless, number 28, 36 feet by 12 feet, brand new and all the comfort anyone could wish for.
Spotlessly clean, great swimming pool, really nice kids play area, small games room with a couple of pool tables and a few various other machines, pigs and chickens were great fun, lovely walks down to pentewan, nice dog walking area, the list goes on, read my review for September 2009 below because nothing has changed.
The second day of staying here the microwave packed up but a quick walk to the reception and Alison clemo was straight over with another one, great service and really friendly owners, always willing to help with any problem or query.
Excellent service, excellent location, excellent value, we will 100% be back here next September
