An ideal base for exploring Cornwall.
Friendly owners/staff, excellent facilities, above all so very, very quiet.
Excellent caravan, doggie ones are normally a bit naff, but not here.
Shop nearby, pub nearby, river nearby, what more could you ask for?
Didn't use the pool or toilet/shower blocks.
Good base for walking and cycling from as well as driving.
Overheard a customer telling owner that they need a shop on site. Sorry but they don't, one just down the lane, nor do they need a clubhouse.
Will visit again, and we don't normally do 'visit again's' so that's probably the best compliment I can give this site.

Good welcome when we arrived at this site and, although our designated pitch was not ready, we were given the option of waiting or having an alternative pitch. We opted for the alternative as we had not previously been there and had no experience of particular pitches.
All pitches are hard standing with plenty of room between pitches although the double row in the middle (where we were) means the occupants of the other row were perhaps closer than we would have preferred. This was demonstrated when, at the weekend, two tents belonging to the same family were pitched in the row behind us and, with some 5 children there was considerable noise (even at 6-30 in the morning).
The facilities were good with three showers for each of male/female and the swimming pool was excellent - empty most of the time when we were there but I suspect that is not the case at the height of the season.
Easy access for the the Eden Project and for the Lost Gardens of Heligan (we walked there).
St Austell is within walking distance (2 miles) but there was nowhere close enough to stroll out for a good meal ( we did try to walk to one pub but it was up a narrow lane with no path so we gave up).
I would recommend this site but get a pitch round the edge - it will be quieter.

Well what can I say? an absolute gem of a site.
I knew we were on to a winner when most of the people we spoke to when we got there were return visitors.
I'll start with the bad points;
Only three showers in each block and sometimes had to wait, however it's not a huge site so I guess that's not so bad.
That is all there is!
Good points;
Staff were brilliant,
Spotlessly clean,
Indoor pool (which was great some days as the weather wasn't always great),
Good size pitches,
Playground with probably the most popular zip wire I've heard of,
I could go on but the best thing I can say as a parent is that you felt your kids were safe to go and play! there is a mutual respect there that everyone just quietens down around ten and I've never been on such a quiet site of an evening.
I spoke to so many people throughout the week that had returned year after year and we are re booking to go back ourselves. So I'm sure we'll meet most of them again.
There is a small shop at the end of the driveway to the site and an asda a couple of mile up the road. Lovely walks from the site to Pertewan, Polgooth has a great beach for rock pools an Mevagissey is lovely too.
All in all I would recommend this site to anyone who wants a nice quiet break. If your looking for rowdy nightlife and a mad busy site then you should look elsewhere!

This is our third time at River Valley and there is nothing to fault it. The staff are friendly helpful and very welcoming.
It's clean, tidy and quiet, even in August with all the children it goes quiet at 10pm.
Only three showers in the separate ladies and gents toilets but you never have to queue and always hot water whatever time of day you visit them.
There is also a separate disabled toilet. The office has plenty of information about the area, things to do and even phone numbers for a dog sitter.
There is a local shop over the road that is open all hours. We cant wait to return next year.

I shall start with the bad points as there are so few and they are not really bad points just the usual, 2 extra showers and toilets for ladies and gents but that is minor and the only bad points.
Now for the good
Spotlessly clean everywhere.
Toilets and showers fantastic.
Pitches are all weather pitches but they will supply you with a tarp to put down as a footprint at no extra cost.
Lovely and quiet
Very friendly and helpful staff
They sell preserves and eggs in reception as well as having a lot of local and regional info leaflets.
The shop over the road is well stocked for a small shop although you will need you own shopping bags as they are reluctant to supply them as Hagrid (the owner )pointed out.
There is a camping and caravanning shop in the small ind estate next door (very quiet did not know it was there).
This site seems to attract very friendly people as every one we met were very friendly.
Unfortunately the weather beat us and the tent so we came home 2 days early.
I can thoroughly recommend to everybody not matter what type of unit you have.

Stayed here for the 1st time, what a gem.
Showers/loos, plenty of loos, clean & fresh. Showers separate, clean, & mop supplied for any puddles on floor. Never queued over our 10 days & plenty of vans/tents on site. Separate mens/ladies toilet blocks.
Washing up facilities were good, always had plenty of hot water whatever time you went.
Pool was good, not crowded, sometimes only us 2 in, has outside area as well so can read/watch youngsters or sunbathe when warm enough to open it up.
Although there isn't a dog field you can walk along river or go up through the woods, both accessed from site.
Nice play area for the kids.
Owners were very helpful, informative & polite.
Very handy storage facilities, we went back again in Sept. So left the van there, & the charge was reasonable.
There is no clubhouse which is a blessing, but there is a local pub & also a restaurant just a few minutes up the road, which is walkable.
I would recommend this site for all age groups. There is plenty to do/see locally, & the bus stops outside the site so you can leave your car & go galivanting further afield.

We came back again! Lovely welcome as usual.
We stay in the same caravan again (caravan No 1) and it was A+ standard just as before.
The reception now sells a few more things, eggs and some local honey and the shop across the road is still there for anything you may need.
The site was lovely and quiet and we had the pool to ourselves most of the time. All the facilities are still of the high standard we saw last year.
An excellent site and a great base from which to tour this part of Cornwall.

Had an excellent large private pitch near the facilities and adjacent to the dog walk path. Water tap and grey waste disposal point also close at hand. They had a special offer which meant I paid less per night than most CLs!
Their facilities include a first class toilet / shower block. Heated, well ventilated, piped music and very powerful showers with hot water. One of the 'wet floor' cubicles is larger than the other two, containing a toilet, basin and large shower. Excellent.Lovely clean swimming pool available within the price. This year I had to pay £2.00 an hour for using their computer. A good wi fi available in my own caravan may be more attractive to me at a reasonable cost.
Again the same gripe as previous years although nothing to do with River Valley themselves. On leaving the site entrance, looking right, is a massive sign for Polgreen Farmhouse. It completely obscures your vision towards St Austell making leaving the site very dangerous in my opinion. If the sign were raised by say 18 inches then there would be no problem.
I'l be back again next year to this lovely gemstone and of course Alison's daily blackboard weather reports and what to do today suggestions.

We have stayed in Cornwall many times but this is one of the best sites we have ever been to. As we were staying in peak season we expected the site to be busy and although it was full it was lovely and quiet. No club house helped.
The site is by the busy main road to Mevagissey but you can’t hear any road noise due to the large bank of trees next to the river on the edge of the site.
This is a barriered site (refundable deposit for the card) and there is a small touring area a short drive through the statics.
We stayed in one of the static caravans, which was spotless and well kitted out. All of the caravans looked to be no more than one or two seasons old, and it seems that all the caravans have DVD players and Freeview boxes.
Although there is no on site shop, there is a great little shop just over the road which sells most things you are likely to need. Plus there are two large major supermarkets about 4 miles away near St Austell.
There are lots of free facilities on site, swimming pool, games room, laundry room, kids play area, and for the touring site showers / toilets and a washing up area. All of which are very clean and well maintained. There is also a board outside the Reception with useful info e.G. Daily weather and useful suggestions of things to do in the area.
The cycle path that runs passed the site (you can access it directly from the site) has a very pleasurable walk to Pentewan, which has a great beach and a very good pub (The Ship). It is also possible to walk to Heligan and Mevagissey on this path if you cross the main road and pick the trail up just after the Garden Centre.
All in all a very pleasurable holiday and we shall be returning next year.

Pitches great on pea gravel so even tents were on them, lovely kept grass.
Facilities were very clean, laundry room with iron and some books to read, computer room, which you have to pay for,
Pool a tad cold, but clean and it kept my son happy, park ok.
Asda just a mile up road. And even closer is a pizza hut macdonalds and kfc. Put we love the pasties, so never went. The site is well situated for most of cornwall, if you busy rawdy this is not the place, small and quite.
Two things that I would say is, no mops in showers, very strange for such a clean place, (get some gang, )and the speed ramps are terrible, we were having to brake on the top of them and roll off slowly.
Will be back though as its great place, just up our street.
