This was our second time out with our caravan (had always done tents before), found it a strange set up as caravans went in front end first to the pitches and there were posts with numbers situate in front of each pitch. I don't know how you are meant to get your van in/out with ease (great if you had a van with motorised wheel) if you had someone opposite you with a awning up, luckily we didn't and only had to ask our oppos to move their car. Being on the coast it can be extremely windy and noticed that a lot of long term caravanner's had storm straps on their awning.
The facilities are good but you have to pay a £10 deposit for a key to access the toilet / showers, have noticed that they are often vandalised ( been there before with our tent). The site is lacking something, the shop is dire and could do with a little LTC and a lot more choice as their is no main shop nearby. Nearest big shop is in Leven or St Andrews which is a good 20 or 30 minute drive.
Again as are a lot of sites we have been to there are a lot of long term / permanent vans, which do make to place look uncared for and unloved as the grass is growing around the van and no lights are on.
Have heard that they are going to build a swimming pool, I hope this is true. They could do so much with this site. The beach is good but not always clean, its in a bay and when the weather is bad all sorts of rubbish is brought a shore.
The club house is great, bingo every night and very modern. They have a restaurant which we have never tried, but they also do a carry out till 9 which is great.
Overall reasonable site, but not when the weather is cold and windy (did try tenting here once in october and lasted 1 night).

Very nice site, a few miles down a country road so you are right on the beach in the middle of nowhere.
The main site building is very modern and bingo and entertainment is fun, although drinks were expensive (£3 for a tennents)
I also thought £15 was a bit expensive for a tent pitch for two people for one night.
Hill on one side of the campsite and caravans seamed to block most of the wind, not bad at all. Was not informed of time to leave so cant comment on that.
The beach was full of seaweed so not the best although the water is very clear and clean.

Beautiful site, on the east coast, with what you could term its own private beach, which is 2 minute walk from Touring area. Staff were extremely friendly at reception and although the tent pitching area is not massive, it happily catered for 20 or so tents with no restrictions on size or occupancy. Ground a little uneven, but very close to children's play park and excellent toilet / shower facilities. Park got a little busy, and noisy, however that is not the fault of the site. Site has games room, bar etc which we didn't use, but site was very clean and well kept. Children's play park was fantastic. Toilet area and shower area are in same building but separate, showers are enclosed in their own individual rooms with wet floor, their own toilet and sink. Very modern and cleaned regularly, however floors can get muddy with use. Plenty hooks but no where to lay clothes, so take bag to put them in. Overall, good site, 5-10 minute drive to local village of Elie, yet little on site shop caters for basics. Would definitely return!

We stayed for 2 nights in Aug 2009 with our first caravan and found the staff and other caravaners to be very friendly and helpful.
The evening entertainment in the clubhouse was good on the one night we went. The winner of Fife's got talent was one of the singers.
The coastal cliff walk was beautiful.
Yes it is a windy site but we had good weather while we were there.
The shower block is well organised having large unisex wet rooms with wc and basin. Plenty of hot water. The only problem I had was rubbish left behind in the showers by other users.
As it was during school holidays there were many children about but they were supervised and well behaved.
We would visit again.

Great location, only 45 minutes from my house. Easy access to the beach and clifftop walks.
Good clubhouse, reasonably priced for a captive audience. Decent food and takeaway.
Like bingo? Love Shell Bay! The highlight of every evening was bingo, and then live entertainment at weekends too.
On the negative side we were pitched near to a group who decided to party until 4am. When I complained in the morning to the staff I felt that I was not taken seriously enough because the offending caravan was a seasonal one whereas I was just a visitor. Also my electrics tripped so I informed reception then went for a walk. Upon my return 3 hours later they still had not reset it, and I had to go to reception again.

Stayed on this site friday to monday 26 - 29th June 2009. Lovely site, just next to the beach. Its reached along a single track road about a mile long but with passing places big enough for caravans. There is one touring field and small tent area. Lots of statics in another couple of fields. Lots of grass areas. Watch out for bunny holes, though I did not actually see any rabbits in the 3 days I was there. All pitches are hardstanding, which is chips put on top of the grass. £ 19.50 per night for a caravan with EHU.One night payment taken in advance if you book before coming.
Modern toilet block and showers. Looks like it could have been built in the last year . The showers are in 2 corridors and are unisex. Each shower is inside a room with a locking door. They are wet rooms measuring about 7 foot square, with shower in the corner with a curtain, a loo, a wash basin and mirror.Push button shower but it lasts a couple of minutes and the temperature is perfect, which is great as its not adjustable. You need to leave a £10.00 CASH deposit for the key. The pitch we were in was tight and I wouldn't have liked to get into it if I didn't have a mover on my caravan. Uneven ground and sloping as well. We were near the shower and loo block if you were further away it could be a bit of a walk to the loo. Very windy site, all the tourers who leave their caravans on site for the season had wind breakers round them and they were tied down. This also means no midges, hurrah.
There is a bar and restaurant on site. Nice and new looking as well. The restaurant served good food at affordable prices. £6.95 for steak pie veg and chips. Would have loved to have my breakfast here but too late for me , they don't start serving breakfast till 9.30 am.There is also a limited take away menu, there is a small hatch at the side of the building for this. Wasn't in the bar so don't know what the price of drinks were. There is an amusement arcade on the side of the building. There is a shop on site selling the basics at decent prices and papers from about 7.30am.
Childrens play park at the entrance and a field with goal posts to play football. No ball games allowed on the grass beside caravans. Nearest supermarket is Morrisons in St Andrews. There is a small Spar in Elie about a couple of miles away which sells the basics. This site is popular with dog owners, of which I'm one, so lots of dogs about. The disposal point for waste water and the loo is a bit awkward. My hubby went to empty our large waste container and realised he would have to lift it up several feet and needed help to do this even though he is a strong guy. We ended up loosing our cap and had to buy a new one.
Would recommend this site and will visit again as its only an hour and a quarter from our home.

Just returned from Shell Bay after spending 3 days there.
Reception staff very helpful, the original pitch they gave to us was small and right next to the road (D23). Spoke to the reception and they gave us a new pitch without any bother.
Very windy had to put the awning away now I know why most people had storm straps !
Lovely site not that busy when we where there, great walks along the coastal path.
Toilets and shower area clean as was the dishwashing area.
There is a club house, restaurant and games room they looked nice, however can't comment on them as we did not use them. Also a children's play area.
Ideal place for touring the surrounding areas of Anstruther for the award winning Fish and Chip bar, Pittenween and St Monans lovely harbour areas.
The only negative I can say is that the pitches could be levelled out

We stayed at Shell bay for a week in August 08 and had a great time. Our two kids aged 10 and 12 really enjoyed the week. They spend quite a bit of time in the games room since it rained most of the week. The tent area is quite small. This was not really a problem if you book. There was plenty of room between tents and the ground was fairly level and even. Being a small site we were pitched fairly close to all amenities. The toilet, laundry and showers were some of the best we have found with the showers being in large, individual wet rooms with a toilet, wash basin and plenty of hooks for keeping your cloths etc off the floor. It was a bit noisy at night but this did not bother us in any way. The evening entertainment was O.K. For a small site. The bar was good. The on-site shop was well stocked and reasonably priced. The staff were friendly and helpful. The surrounding area is beautiful with plenty to do and see. In conclusion, a great, friendly little site. Will definitely be back.

We spent a nice weekend here and loved it the site seemed to be well run and kept clean and tidy. There were a lot of touring vans just left on site all year but plenty of spaces and a good size. Some hard standing all with elec hook up. Toilet block was also clean with good big showers like a wet room with sink toilet and shower all in your own room. Loads of stuff in the complex with a games room / tv lounge / pool table / bingo and live entertainment every night and all the staff were very nice. The restaurant was very busy and is advised to book if you want to get a table at peak times. The food was good basic pub food but that is all we were looking for. Large play park for the kids and a big sandy beach at the bottom of the site with sand dunes. Will be back

This site was great for a couple of nights. Decent sized pitches but a bit worn and tatty. The club had good entertainment, live music and bingo and a seperate area with TV for sporting events. Couldn't get into the restaurant as it was fully booked but still got to sample the menu from the takeaway hatch and would reccomend it, decent grub and very reasonable on the wallet! Toilet block was OK, clean but nothing to write home about.
